I don't think our people should live like that in this century, I feel so sorry for masakiinta.. :D Walal, i am not suggesting that somalis should erase cultural modernization or any progress thats been made through our time. but you have to understand that there are people out there that enjoy the simplicity of nomadic life just as much as there are people who appreciate modern lifestyle. regardless of your view; i want to say that we need to teach our children the language and able to show them that their customs are unique and should be proud to showcase in school or community events. And speaking of somali weddings, why do they play arabic music, american, or even ethiopian music? its non-existent to see Ethiopian or Eritreans playing music outside of their culture in weddings. and while we are at the subject of Ethiopians and Eritreans; is it me or do they have lots of cultural songs- I mean just check Youtube - most of it waa heeso dhaqan ah.

  9. He deserves the death sentence- one: he came to a muslim country and broke the principles of that nation, two he lied about his mission and used the name of humanitarian as a propose to facilitate his agenda. This man is no better than a warlord, he have victimize a lots of innocent girls and worst of all he justified his actions as a humanitarian mission.
  10. Why would you want a British citizenship when you live in Sweden? Go backing to my Economic class lectures, i remember being told that Sweden is ninth richest country of Europe having $ 37,525 GDP (Purchasing power parity) while GDP (nominal) per capita is $ 52,790. more so it was said that Sweden is ranked as having the best creativity in Europe for business and is predicted to become a talent magnet for the world’s most purposeful workers. its just boggles me why you would need to scam what almost look like third world country having to moved from one of the richest nation---
  11. If i could nominate someone for this "great somali" award- I do say the first nominees are the somali mothers who work tireless hours both inside and outside to maintain a stable homes and build a better future for their children, I nominate the Somali women with little shops across Africa and elsewhere to make sure no child of theirs sleeps hungry at night, I nominate the women in Europe, in America, in Asia who keeps their family together with resilience and determination while their husbands banded them to other circumstances. I want to nominate the fathers who are the rocks in their community and in their children lives, I want to nominate the men in taxi, in factories, in buses, in business, in schools who work like horses to provide for everyone in their family.... I Nominate those who bring Health, and Education services to Somalis back home and anyone else who works toward a better future for all Somalis:)
  12. Whenever i check Sol, i feel like its full of political scoops from news sites... more so i feel like many members compete giving coverage on Putland and Somaliland- anyone feel the same?
  13. "The arrival of Somali families into Western communities as refugees undermined the traditional role of men being providers to their families. For instance, the American welfare system is set up in a way that empowers women, in the name of protecting the children, but at the same time it indirectly makes husbands irrelevant. The welfare checks are given to the wives and, if husbands want to leave the household, then the better. Why there are so many single mothers on public assistance is a question that can partially be attributed to the diminishing role of husbands and lack of employment opportunities. "` i THINK HE HIT THE NAIL ON THAT PART!
  14. The issue between Sudanese is mainly over resources and religion conflict which is fairly a reasonable split- However what excuse does northern Somalia have in their quest to divide? that they have done better job establishing better security and maintaining peaceful State while Muqdisho have was in turmoil and couldnt shake off from tribal clashes? come on there is no legitimate reason to split Somalia- its probably more reasonable to say Somaliland should be the focal point of establishing a government for All Somalis and make the starting point of New Somalia.
  15. - should scholars, leaders, and SUUGANTA SOOMALIYEED emphasize & encourage Somalis to revive more traditional customs? and more so shouldnt we at least build one historical museum? being in America I have been to Native American festivals and seen other ethnic groups display their customs with great pride - i have even seen African American Historic plantation sites (google DraytonHall) for example which preserves the history of being an slave in this country- and yet when i compare that to Somali traditions i feel like much goes unappreciated and under value. Anyways please share your input and also check out (HIDDO IYO DHAQAN >---------> THE ROOTS) on facebook.com
  16. "Waxa la yidhi nin ciidan baahi hayso ciid (sand) makala saaro", at one time or another the horn of Africa have seen the Egyptions, it has seen the Turkish empire , the British, the Italian, the polish, all trying to get a grip of that sea shore- S>O>M>A>L>I>A =SOMALI UNITY is the reason why they couldnt stand long enough. now that we have no colonial issue- we have a conflict of tribalism.... even more so- AS LONG as ( reer wuqooyi) are full of resentment and being "victims" of Siyad bare Somalia will be divide into mini-states.
  17. 40% of your pay check for missing one meeting? thats insane!
  18. i guess everyone wants to see Somalia falling apart into mini States in able to meet their business agenda. sad init? its been said that the smallest wind could break the branch of an oak tree, but the tree stands tall regardless of what branch is missing- UNITY IS BEAUTY !
  19. the purpose of the game? i dont know...maybe to give each member a chance to participate a post, in collaboration we are sharing ideas and input to create a story. The Rules of Game: writing a story line for a play. each person should add at least a sentence that fits the story. Example: lets say I begin with ~Hassan was in his first year of college~ the second person could add that ~he was planning to study economics and so on. ________________________________________________________________________________ THE STORY: Amina and her family moved to Kenya in 2000,
