^LOL. Alhamdulilah you've lived to tell the tale, eh? I'm planning a visit to SL soon and can't get these planes and the killer roads out of my head. It feels more like a preparation for death than a holiday. What planes do Jubba / African use? Those are some really good photos, Marx. Love the one with men playing dominos. Very professional looking! Thanks for sharing. 2+2=5, You can upload them on photobucket.com, rockyou.com or even facebook and then paste the url on here. Looking forward to seeing your photos... Insha Allah. p.s that camera is expensive, innit?

Why should they go to Kenya? I haven't heard any positive stories from the Kenya camps and wouldn't wish that on anyone. If SL and the UN were truly concerned for the well being of these people, they would find other solutions. Perhaps overlook the identity of the needy and address it as issue of poverty in SL. Poverty, lack of employment is a major issue in SL regardless of which region the residents come from a joint initiative with the UN to address this would benefit 'refugees' and SLers alike. I wish politicians weren't so petty!

Hmm. Depends on what mood I was in...

If I can like Brittney’s Fantasy. I think can overlook the details and buy any perfume- if it smells good. Those ads annoy me though. I think the message to women is that this perfume, shampoo, cream - whatever will make you sexier / more desirable. In a society that is so obsessed with sex and objectifying women – I’ve learnt to ignore it. Alhamdulilah, living in the ME I'm not exposed to such ads anymore but the there are these adverts for the Fair and Lovely range that pisses me every time because they link success to gaining fairer skin. In one of the ads, a struggling designer washes her face with Fair and Lovely - then suddenly everything is lighter and she's on the run way. How ****** is that?

Yes, but Obama restaurant is in Hargaisa not Burao. The caption is wrong. Ask J.Baro, he's a regular there. Not that it makes a difference, it's highly unlikely this would influence Obamas decision in anyway. He should be released because his capture and imprisonment are unjustifiable. Edit. Article from April 08 .. it seems they're held because the US can't figure out where to send them, not because they're terror suspects. Ciil waynaaa!

Subxan Allah. I can't get over the fact that this mans freedom was sold by so called Muslims. May Allah make this a gateway to jannah for him, doubt Obama gives a toss! p.s that restaurant is in Hargaisa.

Ng and I are speaking of two different videos. The one I've linked and the one he referred to. Neither of Ina Kabayare. Siday u eegtahay, ha iska kabo yaraatee, ma hawl yara yartu, taasu waa hubaal.

It's the same girl. I think she got the styles twisted too.. yacni ka beerta she looks like inay soo dagaal tagtay which is perfect for when you're singing to al shabaab and sharif. The one above is just confused ma qalanjodaan is ruxaysaa la daawan mise dadkan bakhtiyaya. It's hard to take her seriously or are we not supposed to? Lol@ NG. That answers my question.
-
I find it odd that she dressed down and kept it mellow for the love song but dressed (sexied) up for the sad, wadani duco one. I was talking to a relative about this and how Al Shabaab would react and then there's waayo cusub.

Whose to say that she would not have married him if he told her the truth? It's not as if Somalis are too keen on none Somali 'jareer' or otherwise, really. She must have fought for him even as an AA.

^I couldn't read past that line either. I can't be bothered with a writer who gets her information from tabloid lies.

I'm starting to think the 'go light' brigade actually consider darkness dirty. I go to tis Somali lady for my hair products and every time without fail - she offers me a new cream, she even claims that they are herbal to 'nadiifi' my face. It amuses me because despite my darkness (which I love btw) I have healthy skin, Alhamdulilah. Mid walba that uses these creams would say, 'meya kuma cadeenayo ee wajigu nadiifinayaa'but they all end up with these nasty dark spots and haaro. Not my idea of clean. Clearing off the top layer of your skin does expose your skin to more impurities and harmful elements.

Arraweelo, You really think that strangers can answer this question for you?

BBC Question Time - BNP Leader Nick Griffith Beaten Up!
Blessed replied to MAXIMUS POWERS's topic in General
He might be an id*t but he is still an elected representative of many Britons, that's the scary part... I think this whole thing was blown out of porportion. He was given way too much attention. -
^The use of car isn't an act of worship so wouldn't come into a sharia debate over innovations in the deen. Something can only be a bid'ah if it is a new act of worship that was not practiced / approved by the Prophet (SAW). Using pepple for instance was not a practice of the Prophet (SAW) but he didn't disaprove of it so it can not be called an innovation like Sheikh Uthaimeen has said in the above article.. I do think the use of fingers is better a way of remembering Allah, because you combine it with other good Islamic practices such as keeping a Prophetic sunnah alive (esp. in our times when sunnah is almost alien), your fingers testify for you in youm-el qiyaamah, it is more discreet than a tasbeeh, esp when you're in public and it forces you to concentrate, you work harder, gain more ajer. But there's no harm in using pepples or beads and can be useful if you have trouble keeping up with the numbers. Finally, we should not let shaydaan take our focus of the main objective of all this which is the rememberance of Allah, not only will it make us more peacful it will also sve us some unnecessary danbi.

I am trying to find difference between Somaliland langauge and Somalia.

^ The words 'erey, 'garbo saar' / 'foodad', Suuli & Musqul, Duqa Magaalada, Garoonka Diyaaradaha, Garoonka Kubada are all used in the North. Waxaad soo qortay words used by dadka ku hadla Urbanised / Modern Somaali - who don't really speak pure Somali. My spoken Somali is very different to that of my parents and theirs is not as pure as that of my grand parents and so on and so forth and I think that's true in every Somali region. p.s it's Bait al Mait not Xamaam and it's not used by northerners who find it just as hilarious. I don't know where it came from to be precise. Yaabka Shukaansi waa shukaansi- she was just offended by the idea of YOU and her flirting. Sufurka ma nolol baa ku jirta, xuu la bakhtiyayaa? Rather, wuu jabay. -
I'm not a big tusbax user but I'm a HUGE fan of tusbax bead art. I always buy one for hooyo, then I make a point of telling her about the sunnah being the use of hand and it being better to stick to the sunnah. Then I buy her another tusbax becuase it's beautiful and reminds me of her.

Che, I don't understand it, so to me it's a different language. No, really.. not only is it unintelligible to Somali speakers, it's different in it's structure and even alphabet. Off course there are many similiarities between the two but I think af maay was only reduced to the 'dialect' status due to politics. -
If this shows me 'ina likuli nafsin ajalin musama', why do I need to be mindful? ey? ey?

Personally, I grew up exposed to both so I've no problems understanding either dialects. The issue of misunderstanding here is not of dialects or regions. it's clear that some of you af Somaaliga dhan aa jiq idinku ah, dee. p.s It's not two langauges but two dialects from the same language. There's no such thing as af reer waqooyi/ koonfur those dialects aren't like Af May or Af Baraawe which have different phonological structures to Af Somaali. -
Hear, Hear! Tell that to SOLs very own KBDS who seem to break out in rashes when education and Somali women are put in the same paragraph.
