^Aww. Illahay ha isu kiin daayo, sis. I can relate to that sentiment.

Ticket prices are an absolute joke. Would rather go on holiday the fork out a few hundred for one event. I would love to see Mo Farah one day, InshaAllah. Just this morning, he was plastered across the front page of my complementary copy of Metro, nice to see a Somali Brit recognised for doing something positive. I hope he does well, InshaAllah.

Love does exist before marriage, our Messenger (saw) infact, has said that 'there is nothing better than two who love each other than marriage', this was in an authentic hadith. Loving someone does not necessarily translate to dating / xaraam. Love that is blessed by the AlMighty within marriage is obviously on another level and needs to be naurtured spiritually as well as all other aspects.. As for poster.. no I wouldn't! Mend your heart. Work on the ever lasting love for Allah and yourself and then think about involving another in the mix. Marriage is about a union of 2, it's best not to start it with selfish intentions.

I miss... My family - the sheeko, debates and laughs. Laxoox and kelyo for breakfast everyday for a week, because I can. Fresh papaya with lemon. The madness of H-town's buses and central suuq. Berbera beach.

Does this person read SOL?

Why so many somali-canadians who go west end up dead.

The-freeman;845425 wrote: As Tony Blair used to say :Education, education, education!" without it it is hard to exit the ghetto and ghetto mentality. I do miss Labour, not Blair as much but Labour was very much committed to ending child poverty and imrove outcomes for the underprivilidged, putting in place some policies which would have potentially changed the lifes of many in Britain had they be given time to take effect. However, despite free HE tuition, FE education grant for over 16s, free travel - Somali Youth in the UK didn't fare much better than these Canadian youths. Something is wrong with how Somalis generally raise their boys as one sister to put it, they raise their dhaughters and spoli their sons, You see the impact of this by our stats in in the prison system, you see it in how they treat their families when they become fathers.. Not too long ago in Yorkshire, there was an incident in Yorkshire where a group of Somalis in their 20s have battered an Asian Taxi driver... it emerged that this 'taxi driver' was in fact a drug lord, using Somalis kids as young as 14 to sell for him. The older boys approached him and told him to stop using our boys... kulahaa wilaashiina anigiaa iska leh, hadaad joogsan weydaan, I'll get wiilaashiina from meel hebla to sort you out! Sadly, the older lads with all their noble intent are now criminals in the eyes of the system for attacking this leech.. However, I was left wondering, where the fathers and mothers of these young men are? Why they did not figure out that something was amiss with their own children, why they let them out of the house at all hours?? Off course, other factors such as racism, poor schools which are a part and parcel of ghetto living -- you'd think that in 20 years, we would have learnt a thing or two and figured the life in these countries out. May Allah forgive and have mercy on our dead and grant us the wisdom and means to protect our children from harm. -
Do some more research by starting at the end, where you want to be after you're done with this student lark. Do you have a specific job in mind? A specific sector? What careers in that sector do you see yourself in? What are the entry requirements / routes into this career path? Find people in the field, talk to them, shadow them for a day if you can. From there, you can narrow down major / minor choices.

Garnaqsi, Looking for some barney rubble, young man? LOL. p.s Aaliyah, it's all good sis.

Habalyo iyo duco to you and the wife, walaal. Enjoy the little lady.

Hahahaha. Layzie. You never fail to amuse me, huuno. Since you want to get political, Fahima is on 'team SL / Siilaanyo' and far more of an advocate for the cause than I'll ever be. Her contribution to the health sector back home is also appreciated and welcomed. p.s I didn't think that so many nomads lacked comprehension skills. A critique of a given narrative of someone’s story by a third party is not akin to hating that person.

Poor woman, what a horrible way to go. Jealousy waa cudur waalan.

El Punto, is on a jihaad with the media and in general I do agree that Africa is almost always deliberately misrepresented, however I personally don't see the desert as a caricature and a large part of the North is a desert. Aaliyah, you can disagree but I don't know where you get off telling me to move on / carry on and moderate what we discuss on this forum. I find that rude to be honest.
-
She's done good, no doubt or discussion it. However, she's not here to read my congrats, so I would rather have a conversation with Elpunto who is present, which is the purpose of this forum, is that alright with you Aaliyah?

I agree there is a lot of xawaash in her story, for instance in this video her dad moved to the UAE but in that article she was a refugee of war. Hmm. However, coming back to my original comment, I personally don't see how and why the desert label annoys you, her fathers is part of her story and he hails from a the Somali desert but also AD where he moved to is always referred to as a desert metropolis. It is what it is.

What kind of Muslim Are You? How Would You Define Your Islamic Faith?
Blessed replied to Alpha Blondy's topic in General
Wadani, Well said, walaal. I think focusing on your internal spirituality will eventually manifest itself externally. Btw.. your post reminds me of one the best essays written on Islam in modern times. Seeing with Both Eyes by Abdullah Hakim Murad: http://masud.co.uk/ISLAM/ahm/cardiff.htm -
W/salaam ND, So, if you fail to fulfil your pledges and promises, do I have permission to karbaash you?

ElPunto;847502 wrote: Damn this shit about 'from desert to doctor' - how is it intelligent people allow their entire country and background to be defined as 'desert'. Caku qashinkaan. Actually, that reference was made to her fathers background before he moved to AD. Not an entire country. That is true for many Somaalis and I don't know when being of nomadic bakground became wax laga khashaafo,
