Usually Caribs try that on but to fellow Africans, we're black African, I guess because they know more of Africans and our subtle differences. Arabs have also been convinced by silly Somalis of our Arabness and it gets on my nerves when they (Arabs) demand that I speak Arabic with them and then ask me 'what's that?' when I say, I'm a Somali, I speak Somali, an African language!
  3. "Society sees me as black but I don't see myself as black, I don't want to be black"... Sounds like many Somalis I've come across!

Ehh, Reality maxaad ka taqaan? Unlike you, my experience of home goes beyond the dungeons where you hang out.
  5. Marksman, Thanks for sharing. Imaara bags look pretty... I've always felt the bag making industry back home needs reviving.
  6. Wow!! Love the interiors of his shop, not sure if I'd want to spend money on those bags though. Looks like he has good quality stuff, just not feeling the style.
  7. ^Ameen. Wishing you the same and more, Buuxo and all the Nomads.
  8. Rampage, Marka hore is deji, then enlighten us and share your alternative view and sources, InshaAllah.

That some people took it as a personal attack is mind boggling. I think what it shows is the intolerantand immoral nature of those who claim to be more moral than rationalist. Hmm. I don't know why you've qouted me in this response? You made a link between Islamic definition of nifaaq and nazi racism and I've very simply asked if you can provide an explanation. It's fine you don't have an explanation, just spare me the hysterics, aye?!
  11. Somali iyo the first maxaa kala haysta....
  12. Rampage Muqdisho was part of the Persian Empire and then it was part of the Omani Empire - not sure if it ever fell under Ottoman rule. The name Muqdisho originates from the the term 'Maqcad Shah' as the Arabs referred to it. This is according to Abdullah Hakim Quick in his Islam in Africa and he references early Islamic historians. UZTAAD;851967 wrote: yes Somalis have their own calendar they don't use months to count year instead they use days and it is 365 days. for example when you want to know the time of the year you will say today the year 100 days or 150 days Etc . they use it to know when the rain will come so keep some type of counting for example the Deyr season will start 4oth day of the Somali year like wise they know when the time of gu will come and end. another interesting thing is that every year is named after the day it started for example if year starts a Friday is called Friday year, sanno jamccaad, oro sano axadaad, sono khamiisaad, depend on the which day the year stated What happens when the rains don't come for a long period?

  14. ^Ya xabiibi, this book is in the past, he wrote it a few years ago before he joined the political bandwagon. He has a good track record in promoting developing nations to Investors, this where he wins with me.
  15. Ngonge, He's better than the competition as it stands. Alpha, Qaadka iska yaree sow kumaan odhan.
  16. No doubt that fasting has many health benefits, have been reading about protection against some brain diseases and how fasting 2 days per week was the best way to lower calories but the ultimate benefit and the reason why Muslims fast is to attain Taqwa. InshaAllah.
  17. ^NG, didn't understand half the jokes, so he decides that it must have been bad. I'm a huge fan of Jamaal. UCID is a big contender now not only do they have a popular leader now but more crucially because Kulmiye and UDUB are doing so badly.
  18. Big thing.. xuu ahaa?
  19. This is a nice way to begin the blessed month, great idea @ Narniah. I apologies to all Nomads and aliens for any offence caused by my words. Oh, while am at it let me wish all the Muslims a blessed month of Ramadan. May Allah forgive your sins and reward you for your siyaam, qiyaam du'aa and salaah.

  21. I tend to be in hooyos wardrobe a lot, for diracs, shawls, bags (some of these are vintage), she has a very classy style which I absolutely love, I try her things on and admire them like a kid. I wish she kept her dresses from back in the day, they'd all be mine.. LOL. There aren't many other people whose style intrigue me as much. So, Narniah, maybe you just have a good eye for style.
