QUESTION: DO YOU THINK AN INDIVIDUAL SHOULD GO INTO A RELGION WITH THE INTENSION TO CHNGE THE OTHER"...THAT IS MY PRIMARY QUESTION I hear what your saying sis .... but in my understanding Somali Men's thought mechanisims are influenced by religion and culture. Like I said, getting married is a major transition which places the necessity to change on the individual. It is as if we have these un-spoken rules about what a married women should or should not wear or how a married man/ woman conducts herself.. I think that your friend and other Somali brothers are verbalising these concepts .. they maybe over estimating their positions ... but fact is women / men do and will change after marriege. Thats the whole point in taking that next step in the relationship mahaa? A girl friend is not like a wife ....
  5. Although I agree with the legends arguement that completeness cannot be achieved.... I think that being content with what you've got and what Allah has blessed you with is the nearest we would get to completeness. You've more or less summed up what I view to be the way to achieving 'completion' in terms of contentment. Glad you didn't leave the shopping aspect out. If thetre were no shops, I don't know what I would do with myself . And most important the love and appreciation of life. oh! Entering paradise would make me complete
  6. There a sying 'play them mean to keep them keen' .... I suppose it is the 'challenge' factor. People want waxaney heli karin, some girls want to be the one to change a playa.... But Tweety likes good guys, so I don't know why any woman would allow herself to disrespected like that. It is a real reflection of how much you value your self and those girls (and guys) running after losers can't have much repect for themselves. This reminds me of saado Ali's Ragu Naago Jecelaa tune..........
  7. ^^^ Well said! I agree with most of your comments except for the one about a girl in jeans and islam mixing! You ppl really need to losen up on the jeans issue lol sisters don't set out to make religiouse or political statements by waering jeans... it just an item of clothing! Yes, idealy a sister should wear the hijab but wearing jeans doesn't make her a non-muslim! Brown_Suga Though I agree with you in saying that your friend is being hypocritical and idealistic. Truthfully, his statements are the requirements of the deen. When your married your status is different, you know culturally a girl is 'inan timo daban' prior to marrige and 'shaashley' after marriege... most brothers still beleive in this concept.... which isn't all bad if U think about it... sorry if my comments are muddled up .... laters. nice topic tho.
  8. Don't tell me you voted for laboure?! It only recently occured to me, that by not voting your actually giving ur vote to the ruling party. I ama go for the greenies too, I am sure there love of nature would stop them bombing other countries!
  9. We should always bear in mind that should we die in the company of a “boyfriend” or a “girlfriend” or even a “fiancé,” we will be leaving this world, having spent our last few moments of this life in the company of a non-Mahram. Wow! never looked at it like that  That was really cool MOM. Thanx! And welcome to the Nomad Zone sister, we need a motherly presence here
  10. Full time graduate jobs are scarce in the current job climate. So, many ppl are finding that they must continou their studies if they wish to pursue a career. The best option I, think is to work 4 a year or so and then study for your MA .. just to get the first hand exp. Internships are cool too... but u should never settle for a full tiime job you are over-qualified for.

  12. You know what they say, 'silence is agreement'. Demos. are a way of expressing ur opposition. they need to know that they are wrong ... as Muslims or even humans we can't sit back and watch like it is a football match. People's lifes are at stake here, the least you can do is register your disaproval, make ducaa and send aid if necessary... but we can't sit back n ask whats the point.
  13. You said you both felt the same way? then what are you waiting for? for another xaliimo to come and scoop him up ... lol. then you'd definately have something to regret and if U don't do nothing about it then you'll spend the rest of ya days wondering what if. Just make sure you both clarify that Ur friendship should not be affected regardless of the out come. If it is any conslidation ... me and my man were very good friends b4 we got together... some risks are worth it thats just my 2 cents .... what ever ur comfortable with!
  14. Mujaahid, Thank you for the advice bro... May The Almighty reward ya. I thought that was nicely put, comprehensive, with evidence and most importantly delivered with utmost respect.. some ppl can really take a leafe out of Ur branch . Somethings are just easier said then done.. but that's not to say that we should try. I think the same can be said to those beardless bres. seems like it is not only the sisters that fall short with their deen. May Allah guide us all
  15. I agree with MMA. Muqdishu should be the capital of Somalia simply because it has the appropriate structures of a caasimad in place. Hargaisa that of Somliland for the above reasons.
  16. What difference will it make. The war has already started. Even if Britain pulled out which is very doubtful, America can go it alone. "Thank them for their heroic stand" lol, that just made me laugh, I am sorry, but disagreeing with Mr. Blair via an anonymous vote is hardly heoric in my book. So much, for democracy

  20. S.O.S I've read the Phillosophers Stone... but the film is so much better. I really get into my books (the world stops till taht book is finished) and I don't think I can commit 2 a 900 pge book. Rocky ...... Whats up sweets... what is you busy with. Yes, I would like to know... so tell! Hook you up with the book ... U want me to send it to ya..... ?

  22. I wouldn't be straight. It is better to get to know the person and see what they are on, are they really all that, single even straight (one never knows lol). And then you can just ask them out or something ... but 'waan ku rabaa' in the first instant can be a little risky .... even Muna would ran away On the other hand .. it is cool to take risks. So what ever Ur comfy with bro.

For some dhaqan is everything, even it means reuining their girl's health.
