The Prohibition of Nationalism in Islam
Blessed replied to Conscious Manipulation's topic in Politics
Nice post CM.. Thnx. Ayoub there are, it is not xaraam to acknowledge your identity and it is not xaraam to 'fight' for your rights as a marginalised group. What is xaraam is extreme pride in your nationality, tribe. When your pride takes to a level where you think your better than others, when your nationality and tribe become more important than your islamic identity. See, in somalia we have a situation where muslims are fighting along tribal lines .. and ignoring the fact that they are all one under the banner of Islam that is xaraam. Laakin, it doesn't mean that you don't seek redress .. but that you do it in way that agrees with the Islaimic teachings. -
^^^ I don't blame her for kicking to the curbe .. brother you need to work on your flattery skills... waa ku sidee, U never ever insult a ladies fashion sense...!! Now, we strongly suggest that you enroll back into the 'Nin Raga Classes' and flying will be beging you to get back with her...!!

I actually like the bun.. gives your head an overall healthy look. Ilhaam, babes, how about tying your hair back at the nap of your neck and the twisting / plaiting them down? I got this Asian friend, that has really long hair so she tucks her hair under hair shirt.. I'd feel uncomfortable like that .. but its an idea

^^^ come on gal, you need to expand your dancabulary. I just love dances from around the wolrd and buraanbur is pretty cool. I always wonder how they (older ladies) can move and jump around so much - considering most of the Islamos (no pun intended) can't even run for the bus   It think its cool, we can maybe modernise it. I dunno, may be do 'the bounce' or makeup a freestyle routin - but you know you is gonna feel ****** when you reach forty... and you can't dance 2 ur traditional or any of the late grooves the yout dem will come out with did i just write the word 'grooves'

Yeah, she is a British Muslim convert too, she writes mainly for children. But her book, The Muslim Womens Handbook, is just awsome. Everything a muslim lady needs to know about her deen and life in general. Whilst, we are on Muslim Women writers, check out Michelle Al Nasar's writing in the Jumuah Magazine, for a young sister, she is blessed with so much wisedome and knowledge- another one you ca relate to. oooh, before I go, There is this really cool book called Islam : Empowering Women By Aisha Belwey (I think thats how you spell it). It discusses the role of muslim women in society and discusses the shift from a society where women were held in high esteem to the state we are in today (2 depressing 4 me to even write on). In the (best) and main part of the book she lists and gives brief accounts of political, scholarly and spiritual women of Islam (there are so many   ) Nice topic btw...

'Hate' is an extremely strong word - like my sis KK already said. I can understand why your feeling that way you do sis and blieve me, I went through the 'i don't want nothing to do with Somalis phase' myself. But, you know what? It turned out that Somalis are not the only ppl that are rude, disloyal, dishonest etc.. Those are bad qualities you get in every circle, society , race etc. Sure, everyone of us has their fair share of good and bad habits. We are all capable of hurting those around us, there is no denying that. Laakin, for some strange reason we expect so much from our ppl, simply because they are Somali and that ain't really fair. It is unfair on you and the good name of the Somali community, because by expecting more, the more likely you'll be disapointd .. d'ya get me? I am Somali and I can honestly say, that I don't mistreat my friends in the manor you highlighted and if you are honest with yourself you'll find that there are many Somalis, who do principles and are worthy of your friendship. Also, harboring ill thoughts for Somalis walaalo, only puts you in a negative framework when dealing with people. How are ever going to make true friends if you have already decided that we are only worth hating? I'm alway hearing brothers stating negative sterotypes about siters and vice versa. You'll risk only attracting people who fit into those stereotypes, for the simple fact thats all they expect of Somalis. Anyhuh, (me is chatting 2 much)so, I hope that this I hate somali pp phase passes soon. Actually, you seem too sweet to hate so lets see intey kula gaadho lol Best regrads babes

I hear you sis. The islamos can be hard core about t at times. Laakin, there are on or two sweet ones that are prepared to pass on the tradtion, I always found that when you give the hooyos a 'lets preserv our dhaqan talk' - they would bend their backs for ya. Just ask around and you'll find a teacher. Also, watch out for 'freshy' sisters, those that just come from Somalia- I learnt so muc Somali somgs and dance moves from some new kids on my block...Even, local communities are prepared to pay for a tutor if there is demand for it. if you don't ask you won't get, na mean sis.

Disrespectful????? what ever happened to OPINION? Free speech. Thats what you guys are doing. right? In my "opinion" I think most of the topics are crap. Can I express that opinion? I didn't say that you couldn't have an opnion did, I? I was actually opinionating on your opinion walaal, but I guess that ain't allowed.. You can call this positive criticism. What ever suites you luv Most of the other women don't seem to have a problem with what I implied. I am not most of the ladies here, see we ar different and we do precieve things differently ... Which, was if I may add the whole essence of my last post - ppl r different and like to talk about things that may not neccesarily appeal 2 u.. but we still need to respect it... maybe you should take your own advise and ignore my topic. My bad. Do pardon me sire Ameenah will keep her two pennies worth of advice to herselve in the futur  Salaams *walks out of thread*

lol@ Bari. I guess, it is okay to insult women no matter. Seems like you and Dusty have the same tactic in rationalising your wrongs.. "well, she/he said that so its okay for me to say that" and "you need to see it from my perspective, if he/she didn't make that comment, I wouldn't have made mine.."

I love flirty men. But that only under two conditions, 1 if he flirts with me and only me and if he is cute  .. I mean, you can't respond postively to an ugly brother, can ya? be honest ya'll

I'm fine bro, Thnx Originally posted by muraad: you see hardly a group who balance between the different issues, and the sheikh gave a good example that some muslims or some groups are always blaming others what happened to us, forgetting our role on what's going on. So, the Balance or MIISAAN and prioritising is an important issues since all above mentioed issues are from Islam, the question us is who will tell us which one should we give a priority and why and which one we should delay untill ....? Yeah, I used to hang out with HT's a few years back and all they did was talk about currption of the muslim leaders (as if that is news worthy) and how we should establish khilaafa... and am like so, whats the plan, but there didn't seem to be one. I guess, there is guidance in the Sunnah, the Prophet (saw) established Islam with the people before establishing it in the state. But a lot of muslims seem to be under the opnion that Islam is not a suitable system of governance - i don't get that.

^^^ Don’t take my last post too gravely, I was somewhat overwhelmed by the level of emotion directed at something so frivolous. In fact, it was more for my benefit – I just had to get it out of my system some how- to keep my thoughts on Somalis at a healthy rate. Obviously, engaging in propaganda against tribes is not something that I am keen on but I guess ya’ll have every right to insult other tribes and assert pride in your own (the last is not really a bad thing). As for insulting men by calling them women, walaal that is an extremely bigoted tactic, there is not a single argument that will make that acceptable to me. Whatever their comments, I don’t think that it is wise to debase yourself on the grounds of the ignorance of the few. You insulted women because they insulted your region… but you’re a woman .. I don’t understand and never will …….
