I am actually surprised that ya'll are taken aback by something found in the daily star  Helllooo, the whole thing depicts trash, its headlines are usually about some bimbo strutting her stuff in a nudist beach somwhere 9as if dats something 2 read about) and most notably it costs 20p. Surely, if its producers have acknowledge is worth (cheap).. shouldn't we? Pleeease, guys. Don't even give them the benefit of an email, it would indicate that Somalis read this ****** paper - which we don't. It gives their opinions value it does not deserve and trust me, no matter what you do they will not re-tract their statement. Isn't this the same paper that claimed to have seen So Solids -man (forgot name) @ a club when he was actully in prison - they clearly have no leads 2 their stories as the lovely folks @The Voice indicated anyways....!! Whilst, we'r on newspappers and stuff... wouldn't it be nice if we had a a newspaper that caters for the Somali community in the UK? I know we have some minis in circulation, but ain't it time we had a proper uk based weekly paper? Like the voice, new nation, nigeria times etc....

loool. I shouldn't be laughing, but has anybody noticed that some ppl signed the petition whilst defending the existnece of Somaliland? Come on people, if you disagree with a petition you don't put your name to it   Did ya'll also notice others who are black mailing SA into siding with their unity campaign. We recognised you when nobody blah. blah ayaa laga buuxshey. Blackmail no goodh dee  And others are blaming SA for the wars and separation.. come on now  Walaahi, the petition is cute, I'll print it and add it to my notable collection. I am undecided on which crew to join; the black mailers, the isqor bilaa liis S.landers, the blamers? or the nayers? Hummmmmm. I'll just wish for khair 4all now. sorry I just had to share my observations

^^lol. Nicely put. You know, what I know a few families that have relocated to somalia and they are living the life.. I am so jealouse walahi! My baby cousin was born and bred in Abu Dhabi and those arabs wouldn't let him to go to univeristy there, os his dad packed him off to somalia and enrolled him in the developing universities there, when our relatives asked why he wasn't sent to the west his aabo said, my son is Somali and will stay there instead of beinf treated as a second class citizen by dimwits who don't know better. I found that inspiring. Also, do ya'll know that chinese, ethiopian and egyptians are in Somalia making the most of all the opportunities avilable to them. Whilst, we the natives run around in qurbo land and deal with instituional racism, glass cielings and shidh! I was reading something about the increasing number of Somalis returning home in the Toronto Post / Times just this afternoon. The report described the bussinesses being set up by the returnee Somalis, the lack of basic amenities that we are used to here and how that is overshdowed by the overwhelming feeling of being in your own country. There are so much opportunities ..... And those ppl who are using politics as an excuse, that is utter BS - the majority of the people in Somalia live a relatively peacful life. I am not going back because, it right now it is not possible for me to do so. Laakin, my ultimate goal is to live in my self designed mansion @ the coast of Somalia ( the very spot my aabo grew up in) and to do my part in rebuilding the country i'a.

The first Somali Queen (ala Burco) – So why all the fuss?
Blessed replied to miles-militis's topic in Politics
She is not a Queen but a Sultaanad She is not the first Queen of Somalia And the fuss is odyaashu don't want to share their shaah with dumarka. If you think about it, a sultan isn't even that important in todays Somalia, so I don't get why they making such a big deal. All they do is (if anything), nagee after politicians and demand that people in qurbaha send money to mend the problems created by the warlords. I would personaly rather, if they had more women joining the politicaly active (with more voice than sultans)female groups. Like the one which has recently dictated that the Sultans to stay out of politics and pushed for the introduction of qabiil free (ambitious) form of politics.  I also read another article on the 'modern day araweelos', which referred very negatively to the ladies that have been atending the kenya talks. It just goes to show that odyaashu get very paranoid markey islaamuhu politics afaareeyaan.. I wonder why? If we had more females on board somalias politics than perhaps we wouldn't have so much blood spilt, definately there would be less insult rapes to women. Yes, yes, I understand (before ya'll point it out) that ladies such as Tatcher and the lovely  Winni Mandela do exist. However, I honestly hold the conviction that what Somalia needs is dumar odayaasha kala habaya, we need people taht challenge the status quo..chnage is what we really need. It is a dirty job, but some1 has to do it and if Amina Yusuf thinks she can do it. Then, let her... miidaanka haloo baneeyo (as they say In Burco) It's a nothing ventured nothing gained type of situation ... Best wishs to Amina p.s I think its high time we do away with this 'Sultan' position, it really is a waste of space   -
Put yourselve in Bushes shoes. You want supremacy for your nation, you want all the wealth and power for youself and your nation. You as any other human being want greatness over all - and the rest of the world is prepared to hand it to ya in a plate. Wouldn't you then, fight with anyone that so much as got in your way? Espcially when you are in a position to get away with it  To be honest with you, Bush (or rather the brains behind Bush - because he clearly lacks depth in that department) is doing what any self respecting leader would. Put the interests of his nation before anything else, so what if you have to lue your way towards this greatness, forget the dying innocent (thinking like a moron here). What a man does for his country is what is important. I give him kudos for that --- even though I hate his guts as my people (muslims etc) are at the recieving end of his wrath. Laakin, inagaa meeshaa is dhigney, America will self-impose for as long as it is allowed by other nations. I only pray that we gain some wisedom from this whole affair. So that we can assert our interests on america and the west *she dreams*

Originally posted by Blush 24/7: Bottom line is should I start e-mailing him and begin this friendship, or should I just stay away(considering the feelings he has for me) cos it will lead to nothing but trouble. You gotta help me out here guys. I wanna know what the brothers have to say about this too. This is a common boy likes girl scenario. Well, lets forget about the 'shoulds' and 'would's' for a moment. How do you feel about the brother? Do you want to keep in touch with him? Or do you want him to leave you alone entirely? Do you consider him a friend or something more? If you wanna keep in touch with him as a a platonic friend. I don't see it as an issue, tell him that you and he can only be friends and if he wants more than maybe, he is better of not staying in touch with ya. Most guys do get over the 'I fancy you' stage and become good friends as a result If you do like him as he likes you, than I think you need to be true to yourself. But keep it xalaa, get me We can't tell you how to handle your business sis, do what ever feels right to ya

Athena, pretty much sumed it up. Our fathers did have it bad. Although some of them, have got their priorities mixed up, there are many that try to fit into this society and help with bringing thier children up. Also, many Somali women seem to be pretty complacent about their husbands lack of invovlment

Originally posted by Athena: You should have each other tested if at all in doubt but ama make sure I know the guy and have no doubts absolutely before decidin to marry him... hence hopefully I wont have to ask him to get checked.. You've said it all babes. If I've doubted him than I wouldn't want marry him. Trust is a really important, if it ain't there, why waste each others time? But on a general note, if some 1 is sexually active (wether they are male of female) - they should get themselves checked for their sake (and the health or their spouse) and not to please or seek anothers approval. Thats called taking responsibility for your own actions....
