Who will vote labour u ask??? Who do think? Hardly any votes will come from muslims, anti war ppl, disatisfied OAPs, etc etc. Further poblems with the TUC and loads of strikes aint helping aswell. We are going back to the days of the Tory party, its just a matter of time. Lol. They've managed to piss off the very ppl that put them in power. I can't say, am disapointed but to be ruled by the Torys- a tory party with a yahuudi leader at that. Thats criminal. I don't vote - But My hooyo liked Labour!

^^it was the same on the votes to go to war- tehy disagreed than - hey presto Saddam was a threat - he needed to go and Blair was right all along! But forget that - did you say that Howard is yahuudi   Allah ba'ay! That makes Tony look like the old geezah who sits at the park bench. If he wins, I'm migrating  BUT what makes you think he'll win?

I believe that we do have a culture and this manifests it-self in our dress code (dirac, guntiino etc) food, arts - poetry and buraanbur in particular as well as traditional Somali utensils... which are now used more as objects of decoration. Incence (uunsi) we are famous for those things for centauries… and our values that are influenced by our religion and social norms (i.e maah maahyo) and our great love for camels (wiil geeljire ahoo gaajadu ____ waa waxa dhulkeena u gaar ahe!). Those are things that are specific for us – and hence our culture. Everything else sorts of goes through transformation and adaptations.. I welcome any change that is positive- however some things I find pretty odd... like our weddings; what is Somali about the white dress, and the cake - I get embarrassed when my Asian and African friends ask me about weddings - !! Somalis were also famous for their hospitality – lol that was kindly removed by our new found admiration for politicians. Our Role - Be Proud Islamic ideal best serves our people, as Islam is flexible. I disagree with the notion that to be Islamic one needs to be Arabic. You can be Islamic and be Somali – we don’t have to adopt their dress codes in order to observe hijaab. We don’t have to learn their dishes in order to eat xalaal. Our religion is that flexible. We don’t have to speak Arabic and Arabic only. We don’t have to say ukhti instead of walaal , aboow / abaayo / huuno lol what ever you fancy. – I find it hilarious when some wadaads go – ukhti iga bayd lol 0- I guess, it nice to be bilingual like that! I think we’re losing our culture do to the negative connotation associated with Somalis and Somalia (civil unrest). Also the fact that most of us have grown up outside of Somalia – unless you have very cultural parents – it’s going to be very difficult to be aware of our culture let alone respect it and uphold it.… and lets not forget the power of globalisation..!! My cousins in Burco are asking for Arsenal tops-- bal yaa Arsenal uga sheekeeyay? unlike other Muslims who had social beliefs and norms before they embraced Islam; Somalis were not that unfortunate. lol. Thats a bit odd, so what were Somalis? Cave people? Surely we had a languange and a social system of some sort - otherwise we'd be none-existent..

Unbelievable. Bully - Blair is ultimately invincible. Or is the media hype not a true representation of the views of Britons MP’s? He has even won the vote on tuition fees – didn’t see that coming.........I mean one minut we hate Blair the next 'In Blair we trust' =- why can't these ppl make up their mind and spare us the drama? Anyhoot, Luckily there are some decent Brits..who are are prepared to stick by the truth regardless....I likes Ms. Short, I does January 29, 2004 The truth is Britain was tricked into going to war Clare Short Hutton did not ask the big question - did the Prime Minister deceive us? Tony Blair is a very lucky man. Lord Hutton has completely acquitted him of the criticism that the September dossier was improperly influenced by political pressure — unless it was “subconsciously influenced” by the desire to please the Prime Minister on the part of John Scarlett and the Joint Intelligence Committee. There was unsurprisingly jubilation in government quarters at Lord Hutton’s conclusions. But it will not be the final word on many of the big questions of how we got to war in Iraq. If we step back from the detail of Lord Hutton’s findings, we should ask whether it is right to treat one broadcast at 6.07am on the Today programme, after the conflict in Iraq was over, as of equal significance to a dossier that was made available to the public by the Government in order to make the case for war. It seems to me — despite Lord Hutton’s careful findings — that it remains the case that the Gilligan story was basically true, reflected what David Kelly said to him, and that Andrew Gilligan is guilty of nothing more than sloppy wording when he said that the Government inserted the 45-minutes figure probably “knowing it to be wrong”. The problem with Lord Hutton’s findings is that the whole world now knows that the dossier was inaccurate. We know from evidence given to Lord Hutton himself that the 45-minutes claim was provided by one source who had reason to try to influence British thinking. We also know that the source claimed only that chemical weapons, only capable of being used on a battlefield within Iraq, might be made available within 45 minutes of an order to prepare them, and that the thinking of the intelligence agencies was that Saddam Hussein might use such weapons only if attacked. We have only to look at the press reports the day after the dossier was published to understand the way in which the PR operation led by Alastair Campbell was exaggerating the threat to Britain from Iraq’s WMD. In recent statements the Prime Minister has rested his case — that there were WMD — on the intelligence he received. But the truth is that the intelligence was exaggerated. The intelligence agencies thought that Iraq had chemical and biological programmes and probably some capacity to use some chemical weapons within Iraq. The continuing failure to find any WMD confirms that they were wrong in that assessment. But there is no doubt that the intelligence was exaggerated for political reasons. This issue is causing enormous controversy in the US and it has been repeatedly made clear by former security services staff in the US and Australia that the intelligence was exaggerated in order to make the case for war. But behind all this, and the tragedy which befell Dr Kelly, lie the big questions on which the Hutton report does not comment. It is still clear that our Prime Minister committed himself to support a US war in Iraq before the summer of 2002. He therefore lost the leverage that Britain could have exercised to persuade the US that, since there was no imminent threat from Iraq, we should start with implementing the road map to Palestinian statehood. He should also have insisted that we should work through the UN and exhaust all possible means before resorting to war. This was the proud role Britain could have played — acting as a bridge between the US and Europe and helping to end the central cause of division and bitterness in the Middle East. Instead it remains the case that the Prime Minister promised us that there would be war only if authorised by a second UN resolution. But he had also promised the US we would be with them. When the Security Council would not support war before Hans Blix had completed his work, he excused his failure to keep his promise on the second resolution by misleading us on the French position. In fact, President Chirac said he would veto any resolution at that time, but would support a resolution authorising war if Dr Blix’s efforts failed. Instead we were repeatedly told that the French had said they would veto any second resolution. On top of all this, the Prime Minister promised a UN mandate for the reconstruction of Iraq. But when the US refused to allow the UN its proper role in bringing into being an interim Iraqi government, the Prime Minister gave in again and thus failed to legitimise and internationalise the reconstruction process. Lord Hutton’s findings are important. But I fear he may have over-estimated the nobility of style of the No 10 operation under Mr Campbell’s tutelage. However, I have always taken the view that the central issue in relation to Dr Kelly was whether one considers it legitimate to have “outed” him. There are two views. The first is that Dr Kelly was misused and the power of the state abused to counter political embarrassment. But Lord Hutton took the other view, that Mr Gilligan’s insult was so great that it was legitimate to put Dr Kelly into the public domain. It follows therefore that his criticism on this issue would be confined to the lack of support provided to Dr Kelly during this process. Lord Hutton does not deal with the big question of whether the Prime Minister was less that honest with his country on the road to war. I am afraid it remains my conclusion that through a series of deceits, half truths, and omissions, the Prime Minister got the UK into a war in support of America which has strengthened al-Qaeda, further destabilised the Middle East and increased the suffering of the people of Iraq. I have no doubt that the Prime Minister thought he was doing the right thing and still thinks he did the right thing by going to war. The question remains whether it is acceptable for a Prime Minister to be economical with the truth when committing the country to war. Clare Short was International Development Secretary from 1997 to 2003

^^^lol- I was with you till you started crossing oceans and aduunyo (if life is not difficult enough). If he feels the same way is a case of give and take! I view a guy that doesn't get the message the 1st, 2nd and 3rd time as a 'bug-a-boo'. Khasab maaha jacalyku and I doubt any relationship where one person eventually gives in simply becuase, they can't do better is not worth pursuing. I have to agree with Kaafi, your gilr went a little OTT with the brother. But than again HE did take it from her - see I can't see myself loving a guy that would take crap like that from me.... if a guy lacks self respect - waht kind of a life partner would he be? you just can't force these things the person either loves or they don't... -
Mansha Allah, macaanto. Great piece of poetry! I don't know but your poetry just talks to me Jizaak Allah ..hon. keep it up!

I'm going to sound dumb here! But by Jilbaab we mean? is it the cabaayah - or the long triangulare piece worn on top of cabaayaats and skirts by somali sisters! Personaly, if the maro meets the standards of hijaab - covering everything and not being tight etc... it shouldn't matter what the style is!!

Saudi tortures rape mujahideen during interrogation

^^ I didn't say they were angels ... but Saudis are not as bad as they'r painted out to be. If a marsian came to this forum and read everything we had to say about the Saudis - they'd probably conclude that Saudis are the Gog and Magog ppl mentioned in the Quraan. I just think we'r a little too keen in highlighting the misguided ways of others - whilst we'r no better. There's nothing wrong with being critical - but I wonder about the intention behind it? The western media does it to discredit Islam .. we do it because......? -
^^ Walaalo, it is not my intention to get into an arguement about contexts in which things are said or used. My point is and was, that even when qabiil names are not used - regional names are used in place of tribes. Whenever some1 uses Puntland - we know they mean a certain sub-clan - 'Somaliland' the you know who clan..and statements such as the one I pointed out make it even more clear - that the remark was directed at a particulare tribe (who ever you consider the one tribe). so whether Admin goes through the heavey handed task of deleting names - ppl will always find ways of ducking the rules - it happens here all the time and it will continue to happen. Like I said, I personally don't get annoyed by those who differ to my political view-point. So this is not a question of whether I agree with your statement about that region or not... Rather, my intention was to point out the contradiction between what you wrote before and what your preaching now...perhaps, you had a change of heart...and if that's the case than i guess you can perhaps set an example to other nomads - who mean well but fall into the trap of hiding behind lables and please don't read this as an attack on your character...I'm just merely expressing my sincere opinion - take it more as a sisterly advice. salaams

^^lol. Sweet. I like it when ya'll are honest Keep that up and I might just reconsider - Che Guavera's peace deal

How can we improve the dilemma that has caused us pain and suffering? What does Somalia need to be a peaceful country again? What stigma or element should be left out in the process of reconstruction? Individually, what can you contribute? now that is some questions to ponder over... personally i think we should first start with ourselves and move down the road...possibly move back home ....any good cause will do...such as teaching, parenting the orphans, contributing ur money to build hospitals, etc etc....whats better than putting to good use the skills u have learned here with ur own ppl back home... Thank you dearest.. waad ii hadashey. Islam is most certainly our only solution. If we take the example of the Prophet (saw) - not only did he manage to unit a feudal, tribal society with the help of Allah's deen - He (saw) created the most just Social system on earth. The problem with our people is that they left the Shari'ay of Allah- and our dilema is a direct manifestation of our disobedience to Allah. 'Allah will not change the condition of people, untill they change themselves' so as long as we fight for, work for and strive for - hebel iyo hebel kale - our affairs will remain the same. Not only have Somalis messed up their dunya - they have also gambled their aakhira - and for what? to live the life of a refugee. I think learning our deen, practising it in all it's forms will change society as a whole- because it is individuals that make up a society...!! Opnionated, What if the Corrupted leaders were replaced by Islamic leaders - and by that I mean ppl who truely follow the Quraan and Sunnah?

Salaams, First of all- you are all welcome - wa iyaakum! I was just asked by one of the nomads how we know if the material is authentic.. I havne't gone through it all - but so far I haven't come across anything worrying. However, lets be a lil vigilant - if something don't seem right than look up the sources used / or with a more reliable source... and let us know too.
-
^^May Allah bless you, us and all those true to the Word of Allah - with ease and happiness in both dunya and aakihra. Ameen. JZK' Allah for the reminder bro.

^^^ your telling me that there was no balatant racism on the part of the security that night? You know, thats the same excuse the organiser used when we complained about it - I'm really tired of this 'Somalis are trash' type of attitude from some Somalis who think they are better than everyone else....I'm sure those guards held everyone there as people who in your own words had no respect the rules ,guidelines u set ! The problem with us - is that we are too busy looking down on our own - that we fail to see what's going on around us. I'm not saying that all Somalis are perfect - but expectations of people, has a huge impact on their behaviour. If all we tell the youths is - somalis lack order and balaayo - than thats all you can expect from them! -
salaams and Welcome back girl. and Mabruuk on passing your exams
