I'm the quiet one - sow sheeko dheer igama sugaan.

AsSlaamu Aleikum Nur, Welcome back walaal. I liked that pice, but am wondering: isn't it possible to play now and play later, providing that you do it within the limits of Islam?

But, lets say one of these ladies gets arrested for her lies, then you would have a perfect opportunity to remind people of how bad that practise is. Bad, because it'll get you in the nick or because it is forbidden in our deen to commit fruad or to lie and not to mention that it misrepresents Muslims. Besides, My POINT was. Our daily actions and encounters are as bad if not worse than the actions of this Farax. Whilst, our youth are more likely to encounter the every day dilemas we turn a blind eye to (on a daily basis). The chance of having another Somali in the BB type of situation is pretty dim. I'm not saying don't talk about him, and I don't deny that there is a lesson to be learnt from this show.....I am a little surprised that you are so shocked that a Somali behaves in such a way. You get sisters going half naked to Somali events - brothers drinking beer in Somali events. People commiting all sorts of sin and corruption on a daily basis with muslims and our children grow up with this.. Thinking that it is okay - unless something tragic happens  They all have one thing in common = ignorance, lack of guidance and will to be true to their beliefs.. that is not something you sort out through a 5 minut converstaion about Ahmed in BB. It takee everyday of the year - cos educating some1 is not only about lecturing them on the do's and don't of Islam - it's about showing the youth how it's done on a daily basis. sction speaks louder than words...

^^ Your right, we shouldn’t act like Ahmed! But perhaps we should start acting like our ‘maryo weyn’ sisters, who condemn all to hell but at the same times lies, lies, and lies to the authorities to get her pay cheque. How about we teach them to sit in the marfesh like adeero Salax and let him teach the youth about the virtues of being a man. While, you’re at it, you might as well tell them to waste their years away in maqaaxis like inadeero Cali. Better still, why not hide some cans of beer and a few ‘roll ups’ and chill with the boys instead of going to schoo, maybe we can sit with our eedos and ayeeyos to learn the fine art of gossip………how about we go back home to our country and learn our deen and the virtue of our tribes and why it’s okay to kill and ridicule others............. . Lets face it folks: We are a nation of hypocrites! We talk the talk but seldom walk it -- and Ahmed brought that reality HOME. I don’t think that this is a rare opportunity to educate our youth and our self’s. We should be doing this 365 days a year as it’s an Islamic duty and neglecting it is like walking around the BB house naked. An uninhibited show-off of a man who thinks he's an Italian is also stereotype of some Somalis. I prefer the old qaxooti stereotype to this all-smiling and all-giggling ***** As far as i'm concerned from this moment: he is sawahili. lol! Look on the bright side, if he remains freindly and boring. He'll soon be evicted! Besides, Somalis do worse. If, I got a pound for the number of times, i took the time out to explain our Islaim limits to a none-Muslim and they responded with a 'well my friend Farax, isn't like that'..... - I'd be a rich girl.

If a Somali female dared step into taht house - the Somali honour guards would have burnt it down by now.... Thank GOd it's a Farax, eh? After seeing a short clip of the show and hearing how every one is talking about this brother. I am reminded of why I stoped watching that patheticc show. I don't know who I feel sorry for more, the pawns who allow themselves to be treated like fish in a bowl - or the people (us) who actually sit in front of a television screen and watch a bunch of bored people lounge around. A great waste of money, time and talent walaahi. It's another way of promoting gossip, idlesness and self righteousnes. Acuudu Bilaah - I suppose thats what so 'eveil' about the whole thing   Besides, what makes this bloke and all others representative of their categories. Does anyone notice the contradictions of liberal Britain? I hate the way these media pigs play on stereotypes. For that reson, am actually glad that he ain't acting up the supposed common characteristics of a Somali, Muslim refugee - that should smash their silly pre-conceptions.....

For now, I'm happy in living and earning my escape in London. But, i'a This is where I want to be - actually the coast of Berbera is more appealing. Hopefully, by the time I get my self together. The area will be more stable and more developed - though I'd love to be part of the development process. Nothing beats, living in your own Muslim land. As much as I love living the gulf - your still a foreigner and they don't waste time in reminding you of that fact. I want to be in a place, where I can be me, where am respected and where there will be sun, sand and Somalis. In-sha Allah, nomads, In-sha Allah. I hope I make it there....

Salaams Observer Thanks for this topic, you seem to have marched straight into my territory. There seems to be a slow but sure development in this field and we are not short of great individuals who are working hard on for the lazy majority. This revival is taking place in both our homeland and the qurbe. But since am a Londoner, I’ll share what’s happening here. As A_S already mentioned KAAH is playing a very major role in reviving Somali literature and promoting contemporary literati artists. As well as their very difficult to read site; you can also visit www.aftahan.com which I believe is a part of the KAAH parcel. It contains both written and audio versions of poems, proverbs, stories, Islamic lectures and articles. And my personal favourite; a section with pictures and short biographies of our current literati. KAAH, supports many poets and writers with the publication and promotion of their work. There seems to be some very talented young men who have written some good books and plays – but somehow there isn’t much support and encouragement from the community and our business men. I think that there is a need for more involvement from the community as a whole to for this revival to really work -. There is more to performing arts, than playwrights and actors. In case, you’ve wondered; NO, I don’t work for KAAH – am just a very appreciative culture vulture, lol For those interested in learning the Somali language or developing course materials for teaching Somali, Martin Orwin who is a lecturer of Somali at SOAS University – London, not only runs course in Somali through out the year – he is also very eager in developing course materials for those who want to teach it. I believe, that you can get more information by visiting universities website @ www.soas.ac.uk. – I can not stress how important it is for as to retain our language, not only is ‘luuqadu salka dhaqanka’ as Martin Orwin says, it is also how we maintain our political and community strength – notice how the first thing the colonialists did was take away the language of their subjects – it’s that powerful. There are many smaller organisation who also work in this field….won’t go too into it. There are many publication houses – which publish books on the history of Somalia www.haan.co..uk is one – but there are others…. Personally, I find that the most exciting development is the rise in promotion of visual arts. Oxford House in East London – as been for many years promoting and developing Somali arts and culture and organises an annual arts festival every year around June. This organisation works with Somalis throughout the year and anyone who is an artist or is interested in the development of art can literally walk in their and get the necessary support: web page ……oh and speak of art – you are just going to love this site….. Marka Cadeey - go to the arts section ...Amin Amir rocks man...damn! That is all for now……………. tata

Salaams [Allah begets not nor is He begotton - He Will reserrect man] On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Allah Almighty has said: The son of Adam denied Me and he had no right to do so. And he reviled Me and he had no right to do so. As for his denying Me, it is his saying: He will not remake me as He made me at first (*) - and the initial creation [of him] is no easier for Me than remaking him. As for his reviling Me, it is his saying: Allah has taken to Himself a son, while I am the One, the Everlasting Refuge. I begot not nor was I begotten, and there is none comparable to Me. (*) i.e., bring me back to life after death. It was related by al-Bukhari (also by an-Nasa'i). Text copied from Al-Nasir's Hadith Qudsi Software v1.0, www.DivineIslam.com
