  1. ^^Good question indeed! There are a few scholars in Egypt but some how they aren't as recognised as their male peers. I personaly think that it's more to do with people's attitudes to Islamic Knowledge; some how it's precieved that it's the domain of men. Even though most Muslim scholars cite women as tehir primary source of Islamic knowledge. It would be too easy to blame male chavenism alone. Sisters have also accpeted this notion without bother; I guess life is so much easier if all we have to do for Islam is raise Muslim kids..... In many Muslim countries; there are opportunities for sisters to study Islam - right OG-Girl? How many of them take their roles seriously?
  2. ^^^ and you call yourself an educator. What is so dirty about sex? I think Bee and Rahima have nicely made my points for me. A culturally and Islamicly sensitive aproach to sex education is way over-due. The number of Somali Youth with STD's, HIV has increased rapidly in recent times. Young sisters are being misled into very confronting situations by farah's (who should be stoned to death). ***Keeping hush about sex is no longer an option.
  3. Great post walaalo, Thankz! I been reading books / articles on Tawheed since I was 15 and I'm always picking up something new...... P.S Can I borrow your signature?
  4. Sweetest post in SOL. Reminds me of my neices; they've been making this Ramadan that much more special for this year Carry on...
  5. ....have mercy ya rab, they just don't know. At least they have a conceivable excuse; what is the case for those of about us who are lucky enough to have escaped that ordeal; yet continue to support and feed the fued of our helpless youth?! Read our forum folks and tell me; What do we gain out of being Daahir and Abdullahi's propoganda ploys?

  9. May Allah make it easy for you! Here are some useful Dua's you can use : Dua Before Studying “Oh Allah! Make useful for me what you have taught me and teach me knowledge that will be useful to me. Oh Allah! I ask you for the understanding of the prophets and the memory of the messengers, and those nearest to you. Oh Allah! Make my tongue full of your remembrance and my heart with consciousness of you. Oh Allah! You do whatever you wish, and you are my availer and protector and best of aid.†Dua After Studying “Oh Allah! I entrust you with what I have read and I have studied. Oh Allah! Bring it back to me when I am in need of it. Oh Allah! You do whatever you wish, you are my availer and protector and the best of aid.†Dua While Studying Something Difficult “Oh Allah! Nothing is easy except what you have made easy. If you wish, you can make the difficult easy.†Dua For Concentration “Blessings of god be upon Muhammad and his progeny. O god, I ask you, the one who mentions goodness and actualizes it and commands it, remind me of that which the shaytan makes me forget.â€
  10. Allah! This is bad, this is very bad! These people have lost it walahi; to fight over stup*d borders in the finaly days of the blessed Month. Have they no regard for their Islam or their people: The blood and honoure of a Muslim is forbidden, why do Somalis find that soo difficult to grasp *akhas* Allahuma jacalahu khayr.
  11. I'm good bro! I hope you is having a blessed Ramadan As for being attacked; heard the story about the boy who cried wolve. People assumed he lied; when he actually told the truth. Get my drift...
  12. Salaams, This is an interesting article. Women in Dawah

    W O M E N?

Aaah! I just love the way the tables have been turned on the Somali man. We now have a situation where the men moan, nag and complain haplessly at their predicament. Whilst the ladies carry on - well, inflicting further pain. Oh the joy *yawns*
  14. Ilaahay ha us sahlo miskiinada. It's a really disgusting thing to have happened to a young sister. As long as we have the likes of Ina Ducaale in our homeland .. there is hope! I must say Smithy, you've surpassed yourself with this particulare selection of news article. It's actually balanced and represents reer SL as normal humans for once. *what a shocker* Must be the Ramdan spirit.
  15. Jizaak Allah sweetie. I for one have missed your well intentioned informative posts. Keep them coming. Ramadaan Mubaarek to you and May Allah make it is easy on us all ... P.S This web log is jam packed with loads of neat ideas and links.... enjoy... Ramadan

I second Rudy. Mohammed Mooge had guts and voice to boot. And My Abtiyo - who an't no politician and no war lord BUT has spent most of his life giving to his people. And all those men and women who fought for Somali Independence.
  17. Excited? No! Hopefull, Yes. Somalia has been down this road before and Yusuf in my view just isn't modern enough in his approach to politics. But I do hope for the of our people that he and His Government are able to do the job without further bloodshed.
  18.  Contrary to how some (looks accusing at nomads) like to portray Brucawis. We are a very diplomatic, God fearing bunch of people. Cheif Caaqil Axmed Adan Cabdi oo ka tirsan cuqaasha waaweyn ee beelaha Suldaan Buurmadow ayaa ii sheegay in Burco ahaan jirtay xiligii Soomaaliya dowladda keli ah ahayd magaalada ugu dhaqaalaha badan uguna ganacsi fiican Soomaaliya oo dhan, haddana ay tahay magaalo aan lahayn xarakaad baayac-mushtar, "Naga daa adeer dhowr iyo toban sano ayaannu jeel ku jirnaye, mar uun ha soo noqoto noloshii iyo dowladnimadiiye". This part is so cute. Puntland post is too funny.
  19. Ramadaan kareem all. I pray Allah accepts your (and all muslims) fast and ducaas and that he increases your faith through this blessed month. May Allah grant peace to all the suffering Muslims. P.S Pray for Muslim victory in your trawiih prayers ya'll.

    Ramadan Topics

Aaah decisions, decisions. The trouble is walaal; all your suggestions sound delish. So can you like cover them all? If not: I've had the subject of the preception of Islam and our role in the current state of Muslims on my brain for some time. Would love to hear other peoples thoughts on it also.. so that would be number ...8. Ramadan Kareem walaaloyaal. Stay true, be blessed!

You could be onto something there sister. I've always wondered why arabs 'celeberate' Ramadan the way they do. No regard for Islam or dikr is shown in their programmes. I totaly agree with the issue of food and Ramadan. I've been trying to get my around to your line of thinking but without success. I guess you can still do as much dikr as you can in the evenings. And remember folks any dambi committed is from you and you alone - we can't hide behind shaytaan. Ramadaan Kareem ya'll. Be blessed i'a!

  23. Mr WD I didn’t say it couldn’t happen. Is it going to happen is another question entirely. I guess will have to wait and see. However, as Togane hints in his poems; it’ll take a major social make- over before it becomes a reality. Somalis will have to get over ‘themselves’ before they make any progress. This is my favourite part… Seahorses eat their own kids all Somali Klans are seahorses all Somalis feast upon their own kind all Somalis eat their own kids all Somalis make sure to foreclose the future of their own kids for we are all mad for we are all mindless for we are all myopic for we all have no vision beyond our greedy guts beyond our blind mouths and where there is no vision the people perish no wonder right now right this minute all of us Somalis are perishing are feeding fish called sea horses. I presume by ‘all’ his talking in tribal terms – and not on an individual level
  24. Aaaah! I forgot that little habit of yours. I actually entertained the idea of getting a response that didn't involve you twisting the meaning of my posts. One day, insha Allah! So let me get this Ameenah, so u're saying that Shoobaro is a CONFIDENT, USELESS MAN! He is Confident in his Uselessness at home! Is that the NEW AGE FARAAX? Ya Rabbiiii Maya, maya. Confident in his dealings with his wife. As in he doesn't get frustrated / insecure / worried at having a working wife. He doesn't feel less of a man about helping and being kind to his wife. Useless in his self-professed lack of knowledge with regards to cooking. However, now that Shoobaro is determined to be less useless and more useful. He is on his way to becoming a rare commodity. A new age, suqaar making type of brother. With a happy xaliimo for wife. I guess you've heard the tales of happy wives Have a lovely Mango shake on me whilst at the makhaayad.
