^Aniga hard, walah I was being ultra liberal with a mere 10 points. I really wanna know ayeeyo, what should those 3 points be on?

UK Rose, You're not asking for too much at all. I beleive every girl should draw out a 10 point list, if you don't want to end up with a farah that's going to be pimping you ceerta.

Looks like Modesty has arrived! Get closer, sister, get closer.. Time to bring back my signature... Given my privilege as a woman, I only degrade myself by trying to be something I'm not--and in all honesty--don't want to be: a man. As women, we will never reach true liberation until we stop trying to mimic men, and value the beauty in our own God-given distinctiveness. If given a choice between stoic justice and compassion, I choose compassion. And if given a choice between worldly leadership and heaven at my feet-I choose heaven. Yasmin Mogahed

As-Salaamu Alaikum, I hope that you’re all in a good state of health and iman. 11. AlKhaaliq – The Creator 12. Al-Khallaaq- The Creator 13. Al-Baari’ – The Inventor Of All Things, The Maker 14. Al- Musawwir – The Fashioner 15. Badee’ as-Samaawatti wl’ard- The Creator of the Heavens and the earth 16. Faatir as-Samaawatti wl’ard – The originator of the Heavens and the Earth 17. Ar-Rabb – The Lord, The Sustainer, The Cherisher 18. Al-Qayyoom- The Self Sufficient, The One who sustains and Protects all. 19. As-Salaam- The Author of Peace, The One free from all defects. 20. Al-Mu’min – The Giver of Security 21. Al-Muhaymin - The Watcher over His creatures, the Protector 11. AlKhaaliq The Creator Quraan 59:24 “He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor of all things, the Bestower of forms. To Him Belong the Best Names. All that is in the heavens and the earth glorify Him. And He is the Al-Mighty, the All-Wise. Al-Khaaliq comes from the word Khalaq, which means to create. Allah is the One Who has created the heavens and the earth, Who has created night and day, life and death. 12. Al-Khallaaq The Creator Quraan 15: 96 “Verily, your Lord is the All-Knowing Creator” This is another Attribute of Allah from the word khallaq, this is however the empathic form meaning Allah is perfect in His Skill and Knowledge and that His creation reflects His magnificent design perfectly. There are no flaws in the Creation of Allah. The following ayah invites us to reflect further on the above Names, “Who has created the seven heavens one above another; you can see no fault in the creation of the Most Gracious. “Then look again: “Can you see any rifts?” “Then look again and yet again; your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out” Quraan 67:3-4. 13. Al-Baari’ – The Inventor Of All Things, The Maker Quraan 59:24 “He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor of all things, the Bestower of forms. To Him Belong the Best Names. All that is in the heavens and the earth glorify Him. And He is the Al-Mighty, the All-Wise. Baraa implies a process of evolving from a previously created matter of state. The Author of this process is Baari-u, The One Who orders His creation with perfect harmony. Allah is the Maker because he creates all things in proportion, in particular form and for a particular purpose. Everything is harmonious within itself and in accordance with everything else. 14. Al- Musawwir The Fashioner Quraan 59:24 Allah fashions His creation. For example He gives different types of birds different shapes, sizes and colours. He is the designer and giver of forms and colour to His creation. 15. Badee’ ( as-Samaawatti wal’ard ) The Originator (of the Heavens and the Earth) Quraan 2: 117 “The Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it: “Be” --- and it is.” Allah creates wonders in the universe. 16. Faatir (as-Samaawatti wal’ard ) The Creator of the Heavens and the Earth. 35:1 “All the praises and thanks are to Allah, the Originator [or Creator] of the heavens and the earth, Who made the angels messengers with wings, two three or four. He increases in creation what He wills. Verily, Allah is Able to do all things.” The word Fatir implies the creation of primeval matter, to which Allah adds further creative processes, for Allah adds to His Creations as He pleases not only in quantities but also in qualities, functions, and variations. 17. Ar-Rabb The Lord, Sustainer, Cherisher…. 3:51 “Truly, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him (Alone). This is the Straight Path. The Arabic word Rabb is usually translated as Lord. The implication of this term however goes far beyond; it means that Allah is the One and Only Lord for the whole universe, its Creator, Owner, Planner, Organizer, Sustainer, Cherisher, Provider and Giver of Security. Belief in this attribute manifests in an attitude where the Muslim relies completely in Allah for sustenance and aid. ‘You Alone we worship and You Alone we ask for help’. (Quraan1:5) A beautiful dua that was often repeated by our beloved Messenger (saw) demonstrates this; Our Lord, bless us with good in this life, and good in the hereafter and protect us from the punishment of hell. (Rabnaa aatinaa fil-dunyaa hansana, wa fii aakhirati xasana waa qinaa cadaabel naar). 18. Al-Qayyoom The Self Sufficient, The One who sustains and protects all. Quraan 3:2 “Allah! Laa illaha ilaa huwa (none has the right to be worshiped but He), Al-Hayyul-Qayuum (the Ever Living the One Who sustains and protects all that exists) Allah is Self-Subsisting, He does not depend on anything, nor does He require any support. He sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth …Ayat Kursi (2:255) This ayah is a beautiful explanation of This Great Name. According to a hadith recorded in Al-Bukhari, Allah sends a guard to protect the one who recites this ayah (Kursi 2:255) at bedtime. 19. As-Salaam The Author of Peace, The One free from all defects. Quraan 59:23 “He is Allah besides none has the right to be worshiped, the King, the Holy, The One free from all defects, the Giver of Security, the Watcher over His creatures, the All-Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glory is to Allah! High is He above all that they associate with Him.” Salaam means complete peace and safety. As a name of Allah it also means that He protects all His obedient servants. Allah has chosen for us the path of peace (Islam), which is a great favour bestowed on mankind and jinn leading to (if implemented according to His Laws) a peaceful existence. This favor is further extended by the greeting, which He has chosen for us, every time we meet a fellow Muslim we are commanded to besiege Allah to bestow his Peace and Blessings on not only that individual but on the whole ummah. Additionally, the Prophet (saw) would often make the dua: O’ Allah! You are Peace and from You is Peace. Blessed is You, O’ Lord of Majesty and Glory. 20. Al-Mu’min The Giver of Security Quraan 59:23 This Attribute of Allah has two meanings; Allah is Mu'min because He gives Faith and Peace to Mankind. 1. Allah bestows Faith to Mankind: 58:22 “You (O Muhammad ) will not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad ), even though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred (people). For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Ruh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Himself. And We will admit them to Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow, to dwell therein (forever). Allah is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allah. Verily, it is the Party of Allah that will be the successful.” 2. He is also the giver of Peace: 6:81, 82 “And how should I fear those whom you associate in worship with Allah (though they can neither benefit nor harm), while you fear not that you have joined in worship with Allah things for which He has not sent down to you any authority. (So) which of the two parties has more right to be in security? If you but know." It is those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and worship none but Him Alone) and confuse not their belief with Zulm (wrong i.e. by worshipping others besides Allah), for them (only) there is security and they are the guided.” AlHamdulilah for blessing us with the peace of Iman and Islam! 21. Al-Muhaymin The Watcher over His creatures, the Protector Quraan 59:23 Allah protects and guards us from all sorts of dangers, he grants us rights and dispels of fears. Allah has revealed for us a way of life designed protect our well-being whilst on earth and from the fire in the hereafter. Muhaymin is also used for the Quraan in the following verse: 5:48 The purpose of the revelation of the Quraan is twofold, to confirm the true message (Worship of Allah alone) in the early scriptures and to guard it from corruption. This again is a great honour and blessing from Allah for mankind and jinn. P.S I’d like to share this fatwa , which is a must read and this wonderful site which has downloadable software on The Names of Allah.

Salaams, Stoic, I'm also in the process of learning Arabic. I'm surrounded by some very lovely Egyptians and will be starting formal classes soon. Besides being the language of the Quraan, Arabic is one of themost beautiful, poetic languages on earth. I just love listenning to Arabs talk...lol You can download a free software from thiswebsite. It's a good starting point. You can also access the course material used in teaching Arabic at The University of Madeenah. Finally, this gives you many links to all things related to this subject.

Assalamu Alaikum, I'm really sorry for the delay, I just couldn't get online till now . man in Malaysia, Khayr, Cambarro Welcome. Man in Malaysia, Walaal, share give us some pointers on how to best memorize and retain those names in our memory Cambarro, Those links are wonderful sister, jizaak Allah. I really like the Kamal Udin nasheed , will definately download it. Khayr, I've heard that too, there's this dua they play on Sharjah radio just before fajr and the Sheikh invokes Allah by His Beautiful Names. Here’s this weeks name list. I’m going to post names with similar meanings together. In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful. 1. Allah - The Greatest Name 2. Al-Illah – The God 3. Al-Waahid – The One 4. Al- Ahad – The One 5. Al-Haqq – The Truth 6. Al-Quddoos – The Holy 7. Al-Awal - First 8. Al-Aakhir- The Last 9. Al-Hayy- The Ever-Living 10. As-Samad – The Eternal, The Self-Sufficient. 1. Allah The Greatest Name 20:14 ‘Allah’ is the proper name of the Creator, who alone is the worthy of Honour. The word cannot be translated and thus words such as God, Lord are poor substitutes for it. It has according to many reliable authorities no root and derivation. 2. Al-Illaah The God Quraan 21.108 The term ‘Illaah’ in Arabic means god. It can be used reference to any deity or thing that is taken as worship. In one verse Allah tacaala says; Have you seen he who takes his own desires as an Illah (Quraan 25:43). In this sense, putting your own desires besides or before the commands of Allah could lead to putting them in such a pedestal that it becomes a god besides the Al-Mighty. Al-Illah thus, refers to the One True God. (Quraan 2:163 ) which brings us to the Names; 3. Al-Waahid (Waaxid) The One Quraan 40: 16 4. Al- Ahad (Axad) The One Quraan 112:1 Waahid is the Arabic word for one. Al-Waahid is the name of God because He is the only One worthy of worship and He is One in His, Lordship, Names and Attributes and His Actions. Al-Ahad is synonymous with the name Al-Waahid but it places more emphasis on the oneness of Allah and it’s thus used specifically for Allah alone. 1. Al-Haqq The Truth Quraan 22:6 This is one of the most significant names of Allah and the word haqq appears in the Quraan 227 times. The existence of Allah is True, The promises of Allah such as the hereafter, heaven and hell are True and the message of the Quraan is the Truth, it correlates with scientific findings, there’s been not contradictions found within it and no one has been able to produce a single verse like it in 1400+years. It is Only Allah who reveals the Truth and nullifies falsehood. It is an obligation on us all to seek out this truth. 2. Al-Quddoos The Holy Quraan 59:23 Allah is Pure, free from drawbacks, faults, flaws and defects that our found in human beings. He is like no other and no other is like Him and cannot be encompassed by worldly understanding or wisdom. 7.Al-Awwal The First 8. Al-Aakhir The Last (Quraan 57:3) These two names are intertwined and always appear together. Al-Awwal means Allah was before the beginning when there was nothing and Al-Aakhir will be after the end when there will be nothing. He is Prior and Superior to all that exists and he is Final and Perfect in every respects. 9.Al-Hayy The Ever-Living (Quraan 3:2) This attribute is similar to the name Al-Awwal. It means that Allah is eternal, deathless, ever living. 10.As-Samad The Eternal, The Self-Sufficient (Quraan 112:2) As-Samad is the One Who does not give birth, nor was born, because there is nothing that is born except that it will die, and there is nothing that dies except that it leaves behind and inheritance, and indeed Allah does not die and leave behind an inheritance because He is Al-Awwal, Al-Aakhir, Al-Hayy. Please, correct any mistakes, add your thoughts or share relevant links, articles, verses hadiths, etc. Fee Amaan Allah!

Assalamu Alaikum, Haseena, Jizaak Allah Khair, for posting that fatwa. There's no doubt ou knowledge of Allah doesn't even compare to a drop of water in the ocean. Aisha and Xalanle Thank you both for showing interest, may Allah subhaanahu watacaala give us the iman to follow this through. I think a foursome (Haseena you’re with us right?) is better then a singleton. "Allah says: I am to my servant as he expects of Me, I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me in his heart, I remember him to Myself, and if he remembers me in an assembly, I mention him in an assembly better than his..." (Bukhari and Muslim). What can be more honorable? Okay, Xalanle and co This is how it will work, every week - on Saturday (my lazy day ) I'll post 5 names, their meaning and the related hadiths or verses and we will memorize and reflect on what they teach us about Allah. In the initial post I've suggested the end of January to be our completion date but realistically, we won't be able to get a through understanding of the names in that little time. And no slacking, I'll be filling your PM box with threats if you fail to show up. and you do the same to me, insha Allah. If you guys have other suggestions, let me know. See you all back here on Saturday, insha Allah. P.s Chck this out. It's a lovely flash with sound.

^blaming the traffic on your lateness to work or lying to your parents about the actuall cost of your Eid spree can be deemed necessary danbi. You may get out of trouble in the above cases, but what do people gain from discussing, insulting and getting emotional about matters that doesn't concern them. These people are not here to read your comments, their marriage doesn't affect you. So what's the use in wasting your precious time and getting into danbi that you gain nothing from? It's ironic that this topic is titled two for the price of one - that's sharia calculation of xan - you commit a sin against the person discussed and also the sin of disobedience to Allah. And you have to seek forgiveness from Allah and that person. Two for the price of one sin.

I really don't get the arguement the homosexuality is rife in the middle east. Has someone done any statistical comparision? I aknowledge that it exists but I don't think that it's as paravelant as people make it out to be. It does get alot of attention because it's such a taboo in those communities but to say that certain groups are more inclined towards it, is racist in my view. Having said that, I've recently come across some very disturbing websites that are involved in an underground promotion of normalising homosexuality in the Muslim world. Bashir, might have joined that campaign. Wa nacuudu Billlah.

Wooooohooo! Please don't overwhelm me with your enthusiasm! Well, I thought it was a good idea at the time or maybe I’m the only dowsiyad that hasn’t memorized and learnt all the names. Never mind, eh!? Fee Amaan Allah

Salaaams , Does anyone here want to join me in memorizing the beautiful names of Allah? I thought I know them all but errrm. Anyways, need some partners to keep me focused on this, so are you people game? Anyone, someone.... The benefits of memorizing he names of Allah are that it is a door way to paradise, I helps us know Allah and thus getting the concept of Tawheed (Islamic monotheism) ingrained in our psych. In The Quraan, Allah ta'aala says; Allâh! Lâ ilâhla illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He)! To Him belong the Best Names. The Noble Qur'an Ta-Ha 20:8 And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allâh, so call on Him by them, and leave the company of those who belie or deny (or utter impious speech against) His Names. They will be requited for what they used to do. The Noble Qur'an Al-A'raf 7:180 Hadith - Sahih Muslim and Bukhari 8:419, Narrated Abu Huraira : Allah has ninety-nine Names, i.e., one hundred minus one, and whoever 'ahsaha' [enumerates them, believes in them, ponders their meanings, worships Allah by them and supplicates with them, and acts by them according to one's belief in them] will enter Paradise; and Allah is Witr ("Odd", i.e. He is one, and it is an odd number) and loves 'the Witr' (i.e., odd numbers). So come on waste not. Sign up and start now. I purpose that we learn the meaning of 20 Names every week and to memorise all by he end of Jan...Insha Allh. What thinks you? Fee Amman Allah

The only Amharic word that I know is 'axya'. Yusuf is an axya. Senawi is an axya. TFG axya. America axya. Israel axya. Riyaale has always been a silly axya and Castro, is an axya for starting this topic. Eveybody axya.

Haven't been here in a while but it's seems to be far more pungent than when I left. General Duke Tell me, how much is he paying you? Anyways, the Courts might have lost this battle but they still have their souls and dignity intact. Yusuf, on the other hand will always be remembered for being the man who allowed Ethiopia to shell Somalia at it's lowest. As fo bringing Somalia back.. I challenge to switch onto AlJazeera and see the state Muqdishu has returned to. What a legacy!
