I won't believe this until you post a photo of both of you standing side by side holding notes that say "I am the old one' and 'I am the new one'. Like Cadaan did when people didn't believe that he was white!! Yalla..

I've seen quiet a few who went to Syria, the results looked good and they were happy with the treatment in general. However, I do think that you need to get your calculations right.. As Cadaan said, when you add the flights and accommodation costs are you really saving any money?

^Well at least you didn't fall of the radar. By 30, I wanted my very own holiday resort in Berbera..

Roobleh, Roobleh,Roobleh, have you let the lights and carols get to you. Balo!! There's a HUGE difference between tolerance and celebrating. This is what Allah says about dealings with Jews and Christians, "Do not argue with the People of the Book unless it is in the politest manner, except for those of them who do wrong. Say: 'We believe in what has been sent down to us and what has been sent down to you. Our God and your God is [the same] One, and we are Muslims before Him'" (Quran, 29:46). Errr. and you interpret this as? Why the need to debate, if we are to put our faith aside and sing of jingling bells and baby lords?? Read the rest of the Quraan, particularly Surah Al Baqarah on what else Allah says about Jews and Christians. Debating with them in a respectful manner, being kind and generous towards them, does not mean acceptance of their kufr and the falsehood they attribute to Allah and His Prophet-Messenger, Jesus (AS). According to Ibn e Saad and Ibn Hisham(Islamic historians), Prophet Mohammad allowed bishop Usquf and his followers from Najran in Yemen to pray in his own Mosque in Madinah, and the Prophet told them, "conduct your service here in the mosque. It is a place consecrated to God." Do you even know the purpose of their visit and what prompted it? The Prophet (SA) has sent them a Sahaabi to call them to Islam. He has asked them to either choose Islam or to keep their faith and pay jizyah. They responded to the Prophets invitation by sending back their own delegation to discuss those two options. Off course, the Prophet (SAW) welcomed them and treated them with respect and kindness because that was an integral aspect of his Islamic manners. However, he (SAW) continued to invite them to Islam. It was a very interesting and historic moment which highlighted our Messengers (SAW) and Islams none compromising stance on the position of Jesus, Alleyhi Sallam...The verse where Allah has commanded Messenger (SAW) to challenge them to invite the curse of Allah on who is lying about Jesus was revealed then. I'll dig up the full story and post it, if you are interested. Chrismas is a holiday to commemorate the birth of Jesus, peace be upon him, and is not an ancient pagan practice First of all, without even considering the Islamic position we need to look at the Christian stance on Christmas. Many Christians don't celebrate it because, there is no evidence that Jesus (AS) was born on December 25th or even during winter. Secondly, there is no command in the bible on the celebration of his birth, it was not the practice of Jesus (AS) or his followers and the early Christians and even the Orthodox and other Christian groups of our age. Thirdly, the carols, trees, decorations, Santa and commercialism are all innovations introduced into the Christian faith and not a part of it and many Christians see it as such!!! It came about pretty much in the same manner that the Milaad-u-Nabi palaver surfaced in our own religion. People just mixed existing (pagan) celebrations and gave it a makeover. The biblical teachings of Jesus (AS) go against what we believe. Allah, has revealed verses in the Quraan addressing the falsehood contained in their books which we see an insult to Allah as they have set up Jesus as a partner with Allah and we are forbidden from venerating our Messengers in that manner. With this in mind, why on earth would we encourage and support a celebration based on such falsehood?? How can you on one hand tell a Christian his faith is wrong an on the other congratulate him on it and celebrate with him? The have every right to celebrate as they wish and practice their faith freely but we have a responsibility to our own faith.

While many of us are cold, complaining of the weather, our past predecessors rejoiced at the coming of this season….Why? “The best season to a believer is the winter, its nights are long for those who wish to pray, and its days are short for those who wish to fast” Al Hasan Al Basri. It is reported from Abu Hurayrah – Allah be pleased with him – that he said: Shall I not point you to comfortable proceeds? People responded, “And what is that o Abu Hurayrah?” He replied, “Fasting in winter.” It is reported from ‘Umar – Allah be pleased with him – that he said: Winter is booty for the devout worshippers. It is reported from ‘Ubayd bin ‘Umayr – Allah have mercy on him – that he said: It used to be said when winter came: O people of the Qur`an, the night has become long so you can pray (more) and the day has become short for you to fast. Abu Nu’aym, Hilyah Al-Awliyaa`. It is reported from the famous worshipper Rabi’ah – Allah have mercy on her – that she said: I have never heard the adhan except that I remember the caller who will announce the Day of Resurrection, and I never see the falling snow except that I imagine the flying pages of the records of peoples deeds (on that day), and I never see swarms of locusts except that I think about the Great Gathering on the Last Day. Just got this from International Crises group, thought you guys maybe interested. Nairobi/Brussels, 23 December 2008: Somalia’s latest transitional government is collapsing, but there is a chance to rescue a dire humanitarian and security situation if Western and other powers fundamentally revise their approach to a political solution. Somalia: To Move Beyond the Failed State,* the latest International Crisis Group report, argues that the announced withdrawal at year’s end of the Ethiopian army, which intervened in December 2006, opens a new period of uncertainty and risk but also provides a chance to launch an inclusive political process. “The world is preoccupied with a symptom – piracy – instead of concentrating on a political settlement, the core of the crisis”, says Rashid Abdi, Crisis Group’s Somalia Analyst. “There is no quick fix to Somalia’s tragedy, but this opportunity must not be missed”. The Transitional Federal Government (TFG) has failed to create a broad-based government and now exists almost solely in name. President Abdillahi Yusuf has marginalised most of the population, exacerbated divisions and become a liability. Talks begun in Djibouti eight months ago have accomplished little, not least because the parts of the Islamist insurgency with the most guns and territory are not participating. Opposition to Ethiopia’s occupation has been the one issue on which the fractious insurgency agrees. When that glue is removed, infighting will likely increase, making it hard for the militias to sustain a military victory and creating political opportunities. The international community has been reluctant to engage with the Islamist opposition. U.S. air strikes at suspected foreign extremists have increased the insurgency’s popularity. There is reason to believe that despite radical posturing, a significant majority in the Islamist insurgency would engage in a political process that does not seek to criminalise it and offers them a role in future governance. There is no other practical course than to reach out to it in an effort to stabilise the security situation with a ceasefire and then move on with a process that addresses the root causes of the conflict. In the course of that effort, the insurgents will need to provide assurances about the kind of Islamic state they envisage as well as clarify their rejection of foreign groups like al-Qaeda. The African Union peacekeeping mission (AMISOM) originally sent to Mogadishu to relieve the Ethiopians is unable to fulfil its task and will be at increasing risk following their withdrawal. But it would be a bad idea to try to send a UN peacekeeping mission in now, as the U.S. wants the Security Council to do, when there is no viable peace process and enough troops cannot be found. The order of priorities must be a political settlement, then UN peacekeepers. “One way or another, Somalia is likely to be dominated by Islamist forces”, argues Daniela Kroslak, Crisis Group’s Africa Program Deputy Director. “It makes sense, therefore, to offer the incentives of international recognition and extensive assistance in return for an agreement that is based on compromises by all major Somali actors and promotes the rights and well-being of all Somalis”. full report.

LOL..JB. Now, I want to ask.. What would you do if you saw her again? Originally posted by NGONGE: Girls, girls, I am not criticising. I actually admire how you managed to turn it around and discipline yourselves. Lets hope there is no residue of your former jaahlnimo left. Actually, 'de-schooler groups' would argue the opposite. Schools don't make Einsteins, they ruin them!

Kulalihi, Who are we kidding? We all know madrassas (not all mind you) particularly Somali dugsis beat kids. I went to this one in London, you just had to say a certain teachers name and the kids would freeze, SubhanAllah. Some of the kids would say that they feared macalin hebel more than Allah. What message does this send to kids??? That was disturbing for me then and I certainly wouldn't leave a child of mine under the care of such a weak individual. Forget laws and stupidh cultures, beating kids to learn the Quraan is wrong. It goes against the very spirit of Islamic pedagogy. p.s just noticed the authors name is kerbaj. LOL

It makes NO SENSE to beat children to learn the Quraan. That's the wrong approach to take.
