  1. Poster, do you support Baadiyow? Explain Do not post excerpts from his campaign website. Do not pretend to sell me the candidate, just an honest assessment of his candidacy. Again, answer the following questions: Do you support him? If the answer is yes, Explain And yes, I know you will start with, but he has Phd in Islamic Studies..and if you are going to bring up his Phd, you will have to explain to me why a recent graduate, 2011, McGill University, Montreal Canada is qualified to be a president of anything? List his ministerial porfolio.....just one, or any leadership post where he had or has a position of authority...and no, do not start with Mogadishu University, my awoowe was on the board at one time if that counts but if he was alive today, he will tell you that he has as muchof a chance of being an astronaut as being the President of Somalia...and he will wink while telling you that. go on, do tell us why you opened this thread.... My prediction:.....Badminton will get less than 10% of the votes....(He will not get passed the 1st round) My guess is anywhere from 3%-6%....(all coming from Ali Mahdi supporters and/ or people oo laaluush siiyay) Keep this thread alive as I want to come back in August.......(I cant wait to say I told you so) Best Wishes, LayZie G.
  2. Poster, murder, gun violence is not exclusive to Somali Canadians or any ethnic community in qurbaha for that matter. Instead, you should have opened with the following question: Why are guns so readily available? You only have to grab the local paper of ................ to know that some kid or kids were gunned down in ........... corner...just fill the blanks. (see how easy that was? Scapegoating the parents: Just as Somali parents have issues they are confronted with daily, children are confronted with many challenges. A child doesn't have the answer to why he is hanging with Ali and Cilmi, the local gang leaders, when he doesn't even know who he is...or where he is going... I don't have all the answers and I dont think anyone here does either. However, research is lacking. We need to understand the problem before we assign blame. I'm not saying that I have all the answers.. Far from it. But I know you dont know either, so stop pretending that you have all the answers as to why these children fall victim to gun violence. Some of the stories are tragic, and it goes much deeper than hanging with Ali and Cilmi.(that could be their coping mechanism).. and if you can't figure that out then you have no business making commentary about youth violence. The Somali Diaspora: When we arrived to location A, B, or C, our parents, including the parents of these children that are dying both here and abroad had to learn to cope, adapt to their new surroundings. The children of these hooyo and Aabo's not only have to cope and adapt to their new surroundings but they see that their new settings are characterized by divisions along ethnic, religion, race, class and sometimes political lines. Thats too much for an adult to confront but imagine being a kid? Do you think you can tackle of these issues and still overcome the barriers? The parents do not know how to cope with such problems. The children are constantly confronted with challenges of overcoming what it means to be a teenager living in a far away place and they have all the other characteristic of a new setting to deal with. Child and parents alike are struggling. So for us to sit here and place the education or the justice system on trial, or make a scapegoat of the parents, or maybe put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the host society aka nanny state is reckless and even a tat bit dangerous. We live in a dark world. Some day soon, this generation of children are suppose to inherit this dark and dangerous world...and we are sitting here playing the role of judge and jury. Get up and do something constructive... Best Wishes, LayZie G.

  5. Poster, other than the sensational title, not much to see here. And I hate to admit this, but Ngonge is right, there is no story here, unless ofcourse your intention was to generate a discussion around welfare reform? Beggers cannot be choosers... Claire appears to be trying and struggling to put food on the table....where as the yahoo's(Somalis) not only collect benefits but they are receiving housing subsidies. In addition, they are living in luxury that ordinary people only dream off....so in a way, the system is at fault here, not claire and certainly not the yahoo's living in the posh neighbourhoods. This is upsetting for anyone who reads it but the blame lies with the council and their cronies. I think both families should be thrown out to the streets. Low incoming housing is available as an emergency measure. Its a safety net. It should not be used to encourage free loaders from taking responsibilities for themselves and their families. Recipients should be required to seek employment, there should be measures in place that will transition people into the work force over time. However, being on benefits, receiving housing subsidies for a decade or more is reprehensible and too much for any sane one to take. I'm incensed but we have heard this tune before...we can't be upset. Make sure you vote with your feet, elect the right people, not the same old parties. Free loaders should be forced out of the system and serious comprehensive reform can get this done. Similar to the measures in place for unemployment insurance, people should pay into this, employed and unemployed alike and it should be restricted. Moreover, the council is not doing the yahoo's any favours. In fact, they are handicapping them. No one owes anything to anybody, especially the yahoos and their free loading sympathizers. and Yunis;841245 wrote: Too bad Ms Claire came from the poor & the disadvantage of UK. but, wipe your crocodile tears. From the mid 1650's to 1780 over 70% total of UK government income came directly from its African or Caribbean colonies. Whenever I read people throwing stats left and right, I start to suspect them. I dont think you know what you are talking about. Also, I don't think you realize what you are saying. I dont think you realize regurgitating the late Walter Rodney's talking points will not get you out of the mess you find yourself. Why did you choose mid 1650s? and why did it end before 1800? When you are playing with dates and stats, you have to explain yourself. One lines would not suffice. And how did you calculate the so called 'total of UK government income"? Does this include the net import of raw material? How do you calculate the finished product during this same period? What about investment per capital? Tax system? Tariffs? Why haven't you talked about the other side of the Atlantic's credit boom in the same period? When I re-read the part that I quoted above, I can't help myself but think that you are talking about Africa and the Caribbean as a collective body...and you paint the British as the evil doers, leaving its European and African counterparts blameless? History anyone? See what happens when you open a can of worms? You forget about the boom and bust of both sides of the continent...You forget Spain, you forget France and its sugar colonies, you forget tiny Portugal, Dutch etc..... Mida kale, what does forced labour have to do with inadequacies of the 21st century welfare system of the United Kingdom? And remember, its not enough that you know Europe's exploitation of Africa, or more specifically, British exploitation of Africa..... you need to know what role such exploitation played...and how significant was it? You cannot oversimplify a complex issue and think it will go unchallenged. I'm challenging you to know the what and the how...not point the obvious mask which you attempted to uncover. This is to say the underdevelopment of Africa, and now fill the blanks......................... Best wishes, LayZie G.

However, the unsettling cover of a boy using a kursi to stand up so he can take pleasure at nipping the nipple of his mother is disturbing to say the least. 19. GaroweGal;818103 wrote: I think it is immaterial and irrelevant that Hitler himself professed to be Roman Catholic as no believing person is capable of inflicting such inhumane and indescribable atrocities . Equally, Mao’s, Mussolini’s and Stalin’s murderous systems were also atheism inspired ideologies . Not to mention that European imperialists also used “Social Darwinism” to justify their appalling and atrocious expeditions of civilising the savages. Therefore it is not surprising that modern day atheists like yourself cannot fathom that atheism inspired ideologies such as fascism, Nazism, racialism, and imperialism have resulted so much death and destruction in planet earth. How do you definite 'indescribable atrocities'? War massacres, rapes, invasions, slavery, Islamic expansion, etc? Just give me some examples here. More importantly, who are the believerS? Muslims and/or people of the book? Poster, you're loose with your facts and vague with your terms... By believer, if you mean muslims, then I can give you the most recent example, Think about your beloved continent, think 19th century, think about the hercules of the jihad war, think of Cusman(uthman) dan fodio, think sokoto caliphate.........give yourself sometime to reflect on the history or if you want me to go old school, pre-modern, then think about: Islamic conquest of Syria Islamic conquest of Egypt Islamic conquest of North Africa Islamic conquest of Persia Islamic conquest of Afghanistan, etc, etc, etc... or think about Islam and slavery in the frontier of Africa....think about the lasting impact of such expansion...think about the lost of lives....in the millions.... or is it because you would rather not discuss the history of Islamic jihad because its a legitimate war thats waged against so called non-believers? There is evidence that believers (muslims) do commit atrocities and you dont have to go back far into history... Besides, I want to know why Hitler, Stalin, and Mussosilini are part of this discussion when religion had very little to do with fascist Italy and Nazi Germany...and more importantly, religion had less to do with Stalin and Soviet union...what the soviet, Fascist Italy, and Nazi Germany had in common is that they all led totalitarian movements that gave rise to their total state. Its not enough that you invoke Hitler and Stalin's name, you have to explain why you believe Fascism, and Nazism were "murderous system' and/or was atheist inspired ideologies'. (whatever that means, as I still dont understand what atheist inspired ideology is suppose to mean?) You have to provide evidence, you just cant hitler your way out of this debate without properly backing your position. I believe its important for everyone involved to understand who and what they are discussing. I believe its important for you understand what fascism is....know the concept of totalitarianism. Its not enough to google a war here, a name there and state it as facts, when in fact those 'facts' are delusional lies. For example, historians developed a definition for so called 'fascism', and it states: ‘Fascism is a set of ideologies and practices that seeks to place the nation, defined in exclusive biological, cultural, and/or historical terms, above all other sources of loyalty, and to create a mobilized national community.’ Now, look up the dictionary for atheism and provide a proper definition or better yet, consult with SOL resident experts.....and post your definition...compare and contrast with atheism and let me know if the above definition resembles the principles of atheism. Also, what you are forgetting is that fascism was a response to a post-war society afflicted with economic dislocation, political instability. Ask yourself, what happened in late 19th century, early 20th century that gave rise to fascism and subsequently led to the so called 'atrocities' you speak of. If your answer is religion, then you're mistaken. There was a strong reaction against democratic values because it produced failed liberal institutions that could not meet the demands of the modern industrial society. This was precisely why Mussolini and hitler rose to power. Think about the 1930s, stock market crush, think great depression. Be prepared, and If you decide to call Hitler's name, you might want to know your history. Specifically, you might want to know the weaknesses of the Weimer Republic. Do you know what what Germany inherited in post-WWI, think of the versailles legacy.....ever heard of the term, hyperinflation? YOu have your work cut out, so I will leave you to it....... 20. The PM is counting his blessing caawa, waayo, the suicide bomber was inches away from attempting to access the front row in an attempt to get closer to the area where the PM stood. At the time, he was delivering a speech, and few other cabinet members stood by his side. I'm thankful today because two of my family members escaped with their life with very little injury...but my heart goes out to the family of the deceased. Seconds before the explosion, the would be bomber, who is described to be a female attempted to move from where she previously sat and made it as far as the second row before she was stopped by security. The reports indicate that the member of the security team blocked the would be bomber's access. Words were exchanged and at which point a female police officer came forward and before everyone knew, the would be bomber denoted the bomb. Earlier in the day, eyewitnesses recalled seeing the would be bomber as her mutilated body just lay dead in the cold grown. Some of the eyewitnesses described her to be very young. This does show that she was not wearing niqab but was wearing Jalaabib. There are reports that indicate the security team denied access to the would be bomber in three separate occasions. But for whatever reason, she was allowed entry. Just how much of this cowardly act was in fact coordinated and who was the person on the inside that allowed this woman to enter the event without proper body search? When will we outlaw those hideous garments masquerading as proper attire. It wasn't that long ago when I predicted this day would come, where women would be used as a weapon of war. When those so called shabaab infidels are not violating a woman's body(in the case of incest, rape), they are surely destroying them by strapping them with a bomb vest.
  21. The Biggest lie of 2011 would have to be so called "revolution" that occured in Naar Square (famously known as Tahrir Square) in the Egyptian capital, and Egypt's largest city, Cairo. Cairo, as many here have only read or heard about is a place I called home for over 2 and a half years. My block was Masar Jadiid and tonight, I bid it farewall as it blazes in the aftermath of Military crackdown. Tonight, my former neighbours sleep in the dark, fearing for their loved ones as they attempt to put it in context the events that unfolded in the news the last day and a half. Violent images of uniformed men in military outfit using their weapons, lashing men and women alike, crushing them with their weights they take cover from the rocks that are showered with them from the other side. If Al Jazeera would have its way, we would never see revealing the images of flying rocks and concrete aimed at the military men who stormed the streets in an attempt to clean up the barricades set up by the hooligans that made in Naar Square their home away from home.. The notion that the removal of Husni Mubarak has brought democracy, justice, freedom is not only ludicrous but is as misguided as it was in February as it is today. I was for team Mubarak, I called against the investing of human shields who cried themselves to sleep every night in Tahrir square as anything but a revolution. Some here insisted that indeed this was a revolution. An overthrow of the old system. I said it then, I will say it now, overthrow, revolution, what???? When you have an 80+ year old at the helm, how does this translate to the transforming of Egyptian society when all that was completed in february was the change of hats, from Mubarak to his bestfriend and long time Ally, Tantawi? How is this justice? How is this lie suppose to translate to a period of transformation and a renewal? The lies of February are coming home to roast this week and tonight, the military is consolidating its power by cracking down on protesters, can anyone say, ITS ABOUT TIME? I think Tantawi and allies should find comfort in reading the history of the 'Desaparecidos in Argentina', or perhaps find comfort in tucking themselves near the fire as they revisit Stalin's great purges and adopt a policy of terror and violence, ummmh, I mean institutionalize terror over a hot cocoa. Or perhaps the military junta should throw their hands in the air and allow the Islamic Brotherhood to strategize and bite their time as they sit on the side lines like a pure virgins(as they are doing tonight and have been for several weeks) and let the chips fall were they might, especially if it means instilling discipline in its organization, bitting their time and when the time comes, possibly consolidate their gains from the ballot box and base it in the emasculation of a declining elite rule in Egypt to promote a theory of order that is based on the disorder that is created by them and their likes in the streets tonight. Masar Jadiid is feeling the blaze and my neighbours are feeling the fire of hell tonight....may God be with them...... and.....on second thought, Today in Memoriam seconds the partial ban of the NIQAB..... This brings me to my next question of, what in the world? NIQABIS are allowed to take the oath of citizenship while all along wrapped in that awful garment, what in the world? Here, my Canada, Niqabis were presumed to have taken the oath of citizenship while wrapped in that ridiculous NIQAB, what in the world? My Canada let this happen? If this is true and If Minister Jason Kenney did receive legitimate reports and complains from judges and constituents that some female or male, as we dont know what is underneath that garb is allowed to enter the room, sit through the ceremony and later take the citizenship oath all the while covered? Common sense anyone? We shouldnt even let them take the test while concealing their identity much less take an oath while wrapped with the hideous garb. What in the world? Who let these people in the country? Minister Kenney and the Conservatives have really exposed this niqab for what it is, an obstacle to progress, a total sham and yes, just a garb. Word has it that proponents of BAN NIQAB will now raise funds to lobby Ottawa in order to call for the BAN OF THE NIQAB IN FEDERAL BUILDINGs. I think this is achievable, seeing as we have conservative majority. There is a bill that is in the drafting process, with one of its clauses calling for the total ban of the veil, and the mechanism to empower federal workers to refuse service to NIQABIS. Specifically, service Canada has the right to delay an application for unemployment or not process pensions if the applicant does not comply with federal laws. Another example is the refusal to service niqabis at Passport offices and refusal to cater to female niqabis if they request a female representative to take her in a private area in order to accommodate her culture beliefs. Most important, no to citizenship rights if an applicant fails to comply with federal laws...(they will forfeit their right to become citizens of this great dominion if they refuse to comply with federal laws)...however, some of the groups involved in this bill do not promote jail or fines towards applicants, just complete refusal of service. I agree that fines and jail time will not discourage niqabis, which is why the groups are against the language in the bill that calls for fines and imprisonment for failure to comply. In short, the bureaucracy is being empowered while discouraging few "Canadians' or permanent residence from getting service in any federal building. This is Canada, not Afghanistan ladies. and Finally, the most revered person in publication, Mr Hitchens is in today in Memoriam: In one of his many polemics against religion, Hitchens said the following: “religion is violent, irrational, intolerant, allied to racism and tribalism and bigotry, invested in ignorance and hostile to free inquiry, contemptuous of women and coercive toward children.” and this is why Hitchen's is in Today in Memoriam.... I agree, as some have described him as being a 'fearless writer and a brilliant rhetorician', I was fortunate enough to have watched his appearence at the MUNK school to debate the likes of Tony Blair and illness did not deter him, he was relentless in advancing his arguments. Earlier in the year, in an interview, he discussed about his illness and battle with cancer and his fears. He was not frightened about death as much as he was frightened about losing his ability to write, in which he states: "Being a writer is what I am, rather than what I do." He worshipped his creativity and I believe he genuinely wanted a better world, and whether you are a Christian, Muslim, or an atheist, Hitchens was fearless in his crusade to undertake some of the most pressing issues of the day in attempting to debunk the ills of the world. In this, he deconstructed the very source of conflict, religion and its sinister others, body social and politics.... 23. lol@the Lowe's commercial parody, acted by former outsource actors, GUPTA and Rajiv(name of their characters) from the NBC sitcom. I love both actors, I think they are brilliant to appear on the commercial, the whole mess about the All american controversy needs to settle, about time we had some comic relief. That said, John Stewart is on the wrong side of the controversy. LMAO@@@@@@@@@Mandvi asked Stewart to list the items needed to make a bomb, and noted that they were all available in the hardware store. “Without the store Lowe’s,” he concluded, “the jihadist goal is unachievable.” I occasionally enjoy watching the daily show clips but I think Stewart was wrong to single out Lowe's, as others have in this forum. Among the advertisers who pulled out, Lowe's was one of 60+ companies who decided to take their business elsewhere, that said, we cannot demonize companies for making business decisions that is right for them. Why should Lowe's or any other department chain take the heat for the actions of others who took the time to sign petitions and make phone calls to department chains that profit the organizations that called for the advertisers to pull their ads from the program. After all, those organizations represent communities, they mobilized and took the initiative to advance causes that are dear to them, why cant Muslims do the same? Lowe's and other advertisers are wise to pull their ad, as the show is mediocre and the "so called muslims" casted for "all American Muslim" are a bunch of douche bags, especially some of the men. Talk about a wanna be Football Coach who cant get his sorry excuse of 'all Lebanese team' win a game, or how about that morbid obese son of a gun who preaches to the recently converted brother in law while he prayers in his dirty shorts. All along exposing his unproportioned body, including his chubby arms exposed and the ink of the tattoos splitting all over the floor? The sheer hypocrisy is extreme and here we are making a federal case about of few advertisement being pulled. This goes to show the media hyperbole that keeps the mainstream media on life support, which is casting a dark shadow on the show, all-American Muslim. The whole concept of the show is bankrupted, other than the few good characters in this show, I would not have watched it passed the first episode. I think the deputy sheriff's character is certainly a welcome change, along with some of the female roles, with the exception of fake boobs and I'm allergic to dogs fatso who is related to the morbid obese I described above, there are some decent characters in dearborn, Michigan. All in all, the series has its flaws but this controversy is a side attraction that fails to advance the intended goal of the creators of All-American Muslim, which is to depict the ARABS as "one of them". Cheers, LayZie G.

As far as the above video is concerned, there is no evidence that suggests the black community in in Shelbyville, TN resent the Somalis in Shelbyville or any other race for that matter. For you to mischaracterize the tension of the community and put it on the shoulders of the entire black race in Shelbyville is not only irresponsible but foolish. (yeah yeah, I know you didn't say it along those lines, but thats beside the point) Speaking of the Somalis in Shelbyville, what is up with the dusky looking man?
