  2. If these reports are true, we can declare victory on the side of the MPs. They are in solidarity against Mahiga and Sharif's lackeys who want rushed elections. Early reports confirm that Abdiweli is on the side of the MPs to delay the elections.
  3. Breaking news:- Possible compromise has been reached. Unconfirmed reports say that the elections will be held today. Because Mahiga has quorum, the new MPs will elect their leader to the lower house. But the election to nominate the president could be delayed for atleast a week or maybe two. Mahiga is livid but atleast he has reached some kind of compromise. Again, this is breaking news. At this time, we can not confirm the exact date of the election for the presidency
  4. The list of 54 senators have not been confirmed. UNPOS has quorum. 9:05am: leader Mahiga------Come hell or high water, Somalia will elect her President today. What Mahiga wants and what the rest of the organizers want are two different things. Some are reporting that Mahiga is behind closed doors working with the powers that be to go along with his plan. Will Mahiga prevail? Will Somalia have a new president by the end of the day? Stay tuned....
  5. Mogadishu, 19 August 2012 Today marks the crowning achievement of the work of the Technical Selection Committee. After weeks of tireless deliberations, the list of prospective Parliamentarians has advanced to the point where we passed the threshold of a functioning majority, allowing for Parliament to be convened tomorrow. More work remains until we reach the full number 275, but this surely is a landmark. Today, hundreds of Somalis congregated at the Civil Aviation Building at the Mogadishu airport where the registration is beginning, either to be registered themselves, or to accompany a future Parliamentarian. *All of them are excited in anticipation of better times ahead. For me, this is a moment to reflect on the remarkable courage of our Somali colleagues in the TSC who, without hesitation, came to the service of their country at this critical moment. They believe, despite the doubts of many observers in Somalia and abroad, that progress was possible; that this really is a turning point in Somalia’s history. Today proves their optimism justified. I was there when many of them received death threats by SMS, or received menacing phone calls, or were physically intimidated by those trying to influence the process, but they stood firm. They often disagreed with each other, argued vehemently in true Somali tradition, but in the end they came together to make recommendations for each* individual presented to them by the elders. Those recommendations were informed by extensive deliberations and consultations with the international observers in the committee, but since the only voting members in the committee are our Somali colleagues, this has truly and exclusively been a Somali owned process. I have been, and continue to be, proud of our Somali brothers and sisters in the TSC. Onwards to a new Parliament and a better Somalia! DSRSG Peter de Clercq at the registration point for the MPs earlier today
  6. Most of the wires, including but not limited to VOA Africa, press tv, BBC Africa and the official UNPOS twitter page, whose job it is to oversee the elections all are reporting that the swearing of the MPs, whose number totals around 225 is underway. Elections could be held today. UNPOS did say that they have majority and will hold elections as scheduled. Brace yourselves for a long day, things might not get underway until well into the late afternoon, early evening hours. .
  7. Oba, for one to have a hidden agenda, what has to have a plan and constantly be plotting. so what is it that you are talking about? Unlike you, I did not post a solidarity thread for all 60+ Presidential hopefuls with the exception of AbdiWeli. Why is it that you support everyone else except the Prime Minister of Somalia? The fact that we are having an election is a win for all Somalis. So tomorrow, haduu CabdiWeli guulsado, what would you do? Sometimes I question people's loyalty to thy country, especially if they keep repeating the very same old lines. Somalia is bigger than anyone man but orod oo take time to reevaluate your stance. Are you for the country or against it? Mida kale, is tartiibi, this is not a run but a sprint, ee niyada dagso and dont fool yourself into thinking you know what i am thinking at this very moment. Or else, you will be guessing long after the election is over. Best Wishes, LayZIe G.
  8. Badal Kariye BA, BSIT, MA, MBA & PhD, Today's featured profile: About Badal Kariye, the man who has it all. (BA, BSIT, MA, MBA & PHD from virtual University of Kariye Kariye) I need your support, views, acceptance, cooperation and decisions to return Somalia into the global map and Somalis from the brink of extinction in the global map. I maturely know that I can only ask for civil and political help before we become another occupied nation in the Horn of Africa. With the Help of Allah! Insha Allah! I will revive the law and order into the country, and we will use to govern Somalia under the Somali National Constitution which we adopted on July 4, 1960. Somalia has had the best constitution so, we do not need to spend and confuse our people with bogus charters and risky issues to destroy the Democratic Republic of Somalia. I encourage all of you to participate free and fair elections, which we will hold in Mogadishu! No more exile government, which is taking care of third party interests. If Allah allows me to lead you then I will preserve the constitution, and every Somali citizen will be rich wherever they live in.(thats rich coming from someone who won't get more than a vote) I invite any opposition groups, and if they are right then we will listen to them carefully! 9. In Photos:The Technical Selection Committee Who are these men and women? What do they do? Meet the men and women are are tasked with vetting the list of prospective parliamentarians as submitted by the group of elders. They are 27 strong team, made up of men and women alike. According to the UNDPOS:-United Nations Political Office for Somalia, the TSC's duties including the following but not limited to: vetting the lists of the Parliamentarians submitted by the Traditional Elders. According to the criteria, the lists should include 30% of women representation. The TSC is assisted in its work by two UNPOS non-voting members and seven international observers". They also vet for spoilers. Some are accusing the TSC of being spies for Mahiga. Leader Mahiga was seen shadowing their progress for nearly a week now. He told them to eat and sleep in the building. He doesn't want them going home to their families until after all the vote are counted.

  12. Open the ballot box, let the countdown begin... The latest from Mahiga:- At 15:30: Leader Mahiga labels the following parliamentarian prospects as "spoilers"... At 15:35: Sharif Sheikh Ahmed is seen walking to his own caucus to reaffirm his commitment to caucus members. Also, reports show that Sharif is in fact handing out gifts, some call it the "little black box" formerly known as bribing the newly appointed parliamentarians... (he has a big grin on his face but says that its an Eid Gift) At 15:50: Sharif throws Leader Mahiga (his boss) a bone. Mohammed Dheere for 25 of his lackeys to remain on the causes....he bans Mohammed dheere from the caucus house to show Mahiga that he means business. more to follow...
  13. Open the ballot box, let the countdown begin...
  14. oba hiloowlow;858048 wrote: Well Generale i must agree for the first time Gaas and his wife caadi maha, dadka lama xaqiro Oba, what is that suppose to mean? I hope you dont think the presumptive first couple have just earned their diplomas like someone I know...(hint hint: your candidate wahaabi or was it Mr McGill). FYI, the hubby is a tenured academic and his wife is a sessional academic, both of which have extensive teaching experience and have demonstrated an exemplary work in their field of study. But as far as your your candidate(s) is concerned....his mantra is, "take my word for it". As in 'I taught in the early eighties', so take my word for it. Or, 'I was colonel in Barre's military', so take my word for it.... Whenever I read about Mr McGill, I am reminded of Mr Romney. Recently, the republican presidential candidate said the following : "“Every year, I’ve paid at least 13 percent,” in response to releasing more of his tax returns. Just because we are reading the man's personal blog, are we suppose to believe his claims to be the truth and nothing but the truth? Also, I would caution you to not give me the speech about how you know him better than anyone. You are reading his personal blog just like the rest of us....and we cant just take people's word for it anymore. Mr McGill, you were a lecturer in the early 80s, show us proof. Show us your academic credentials from Somalia.. .do not pretend that you were colonel if you cant show pictures of your military stripes. Mr McGill, we need proof. And I cant stress this enough....Mr McGill lacks the skills and experience needed both in academia and in governance, hahaa..... (btw, did you happen to read the response I posted to the Mr McGill thread a while ago? Lets bring it back up for monday, I cant wait to tell you I told you so.)
  15. I think we have to be more careful especially when we are dealing with third rate Somali blogs. They have no sense of decency to report the truth. These Somali blogs lack credibility but it isn't to say that Sharif did not throw a temper tantrum. Even if he did, its the same old theatrics. Nothing new here. Everything these so called "politicians" do are staged. Nothing surprises me about Team Sharif. Desperate times calls for desperate measures. The political machine that is Macalin Sharif is on overload. That said, I love the man.(He brought us Abdi Weli (An efficient manager) with a very competent Cabinet behind him.) But I loved Adeero Yusuf more. Adeero knew when to step aside. He showed the Somali people, more importantly, me that we can believe in governance. And when its the best interest of the Somali people, Adeero was credible. He was a peach compare to Sharif. On the other hand, Sharif the candidate is incredibly wicked. The candidate, not so much the man, is hungry for power. Will not hesitate to throw his allies under the best if it serves his interest. So, what does this all mean? It means that we could be in worse shape if Sharif is victorious in this coming elections. Much more so than him being a spoiler in these latest meetings. The long term damage could be irreversible. So, the question you should all ask is, do you prefer long term gains in place of short term loss? If so, let Sharif throw hissy fit. Atleast, give him that.
  16. Lol@@@bura I gotta give you props, that was funny. You had Me laughing. Che, just for today, put your leotards away. The game of the day is on at 2:45pm Canada vs USA Womens Soccer, win or die trying. It has no leotards but all the making of a great game. :-) Canada will make history...the perfect game to Enjoy on a long weekend. All eyes on the homegirls On the team. Che, there are 3 Gabby's. If you are a Canadian viewer, game will be carried live on TSN....(live streaming is available) By far the best match up of the olympic games... Maybe even better than the men's tournament.
  17. lol@che, you are a strange fella but still a homie. OMG, St. Leo just set a new Olympic record(again), hahahah, thats sick. (his instant performance made up for yesterday's disappointment ...a mere 9.64(the official record is now 9.63) seconds just put a dark day behind me....)
  18. ^Lander, he may not look right(as anyone would? Its has been 4 long, grueling years) but when it counts, he will deliver. Count on him to defend his title....and his countryman will take the silver, leaving Tyson Gay who could surprise many by taking Bronze for team Che. I think the 100m, 200m, and men's 4X100m relay will go to Jamaica. They are just too good to be slowed down by the likes of Tyson the washed up Gay and Co. The Ethiopians might surprise us all...the big boys running are the 3-man team of: 5000 Men 1. 12:46.81 Dejen Gebremeskel (#1) 2. 12:47.53 Hagos Gebrhiwet (#2) 3. 12:48.77 Yenew Alamirew (#4) This is unless they make last minute changes...but chances are the top 3 duo will come up and probably sweep 2 medals. Count on it...
  19. The second biggest race of the Athletics is under way in just over an hour. Mens 100m Finals... Yesterday was the worse day since Olympics started. both my picks for the womens 100m and mens 10,000m came out short. What a disappointing day. But atleast Carmelita Jeter has a chance to leave London with 1 Silver and 2 Gold.... I do not hear Ryan Bailey or was it Barbeque, sounds like Usain Bolt just showed the world that not only can be beat his personal best by under a second but he can do it with ease. And its just the semi finals.
  20. First and foremost, I would like to extend my hambalyo to Lander. Congrats. Your man wuu guuleyste. K Bekele lost. In short, My man was beaten by your man. Mida kale, there are way too many of you, especially the late comers who have have zero credibility and now have sold your souls to the highest bidder, in this case, Mo Farah. I feel sorry for you, newbies. I will not dignify you with a response, matter of fact, I dont even want to acknowledge you.. (i.e Blessed of the world) Mida Kale, che and Company...who is GALEN RUPP? What do Galen Rupp and Mo Farah have in common? Why isn't anyone talking about this nobody who beat the defending champ? He got Silver and the champ was in fourth placE? Why? How can a nobody come from 13# from the last world stage(olympics) to get a silver? And what is this nobody's connection to Mo Farah? Nike Oregon Project, the doping center that fueled these two yaahooo's, so they can secure both the 1st and 2nd round in the men's 10k...thats the connection I know the Ethiopian team does not want to insert itself in controversy but I can and I will. These two yaahoos (RUPP AND M. FARAH) are serial dopers....and I want an official investigation launch..(but that will not happen, if at all, because Ethiopians waa fuleeyiin, they dont want to be called sore losers) ..there has to be official charges that has to be filed by the Ethiopian Athletic Committee, and only then can an investigation be under taken to find out how two yahoo's just out ran the defending champion, by far the best long distance runner in the world. Two yahoos need to be investigated....There is a reason why WADA (The World Anti-Doping Agency) once claimed that what goes on on those training facilities is the equivalent of blood doping, so for a yahoo and another waryaa-yahoo to take 1 and 2 spots is inconceivable to say the least. It took me back a moment...but for now, a win is a win. (even thought doping allegations have to be answered) As for Kenenisa Bekele, unlikely what other yahoo's are saying here(please stop posting falsehoods), new comers and all, he did not qualify for the 5,000m (He is a reserve) He Qualified for the 10,000m (Fastest time in the 3-man team) For Dibaba, she did not qualify for the 5,000k(she is a reserve ****this might change sine she got the country's first medal) BTW, for those of you who are talking about Somalinimo(This is sports). This has nothing to do with Somalinimo. And even if we were talking about showing pride to our nation(which we did on Friday), that ship has sailed...As Ngonge will say, wax fahma..... I would love nothing but Mo Farah to say he is Somali-Brit...but he didn't. He said I'm a brit, this is my home and thats that. He does not consider himself Somali because of Qabiil. I dont support or acknowledge people who meddle in tribal matters in the global arena...its revolting. He is so hateful that he took his disappointment with his Visa being denied last year because his sorry qaxooti looking. United States denied him entry last year, he was stranded here in Canada.... denied entry until his Coach begged few State Department officials to let him in. In his interview, he was livid. He was disgusted with being Somali...(Go read the article, he gave... the long interview about the ordeal) Do not ask me to do your homework for you. The article exists, and because you are a fan, you should have no trouble finding it. so lets stop the talk about him being Somali. Unless he comes out and whole heartily embraces the country of his birth the very same way I do, I will not consider him a Somali. He is not Somali. I beg you to stop insulting our intelligence with this silly talk of him being a "SOMALI-BRIT". (You know who you are, SililaanyoLand/Enclave pple) You know exactly what he is...support him for being athletic, support him for being African or from the same Tribe, but do not for one minute pretend that he is a "SOmali-Brit". I dont buy it. Best Wishes, LayZie G.
  21. Kenenisa Bekele ‏@KenenisaBekele: (5 Hours ago, the golden child tweeted the following:- ) Fit and ready for defending the 10k Gold in #London2012. Inspired by yesterdays amazing finish by teammate #tirunesh #dibaba. On June 26th, Via twitter .....K. Bekele on Mo Farah: Kenenisa Bekele ‏@KenenisaBekele @Mo_Farah is a great athlete in great shape but I am determined to win a record third Olympic Gold at London.
  22. ^^What? Ryan? LOL, he is lucky if he makes it to the semi-finals... Remember clocking your personal best in round 1 does not make you a legitimate competitor for the medal round, especially when you have guys on other heats who have clocked much less, say 9:58 or have we forgotten? He can keep his 9.88 It is no coincidence that Powell, St. Leo, Gay, and the young gunner Blake have all clocked in the 10.00 or over...there is a reason why its called round 1, warm-ups are not real competition...lets wait for the next leg. In the meantime, it doesn't hurt to go down memory lane.. Remember Haile Gebreselassie? Old school meets new school... WINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNERS
  23. Is Ngonge bitter because he cant run or because gabadh Somaliyeed is living his dream? She is a girl who can actually run, and not only that, she can clock faster than all the fadhi ku dirir folks leysku daray. Give me a break folks and pick on someone your own size. I'm sure marka ay soo baxday ma dhihin ooo "Olympic village aan dagaa, oo Ima be pampered". Zamzam is driven. She is young, and there is always Rio 2016. I'm sorry to break it to you Ngonge. Athletes are about the competition. Always are, always will be. (You know watching sport is not the same thing as playing...but you keep representing.....fadhi ku dirir style, ya heard? FYI: The above color is not pink. Its called Magenta (Fuchsia)......My favourite color in the world. Hi Ibti, Ramadan Karim. No, she is not the same girl. Zamzam was discovered playing B-ball in Xamar, trained, did her meets and qualified for the Olympics. If it weren't for :---- Day One of the Athletics would have been bust... Tirunesh Dibaba saved the day with her calm and composure...I except K. Bekele to come out tomorrow and do the same....let Ethiopia go for two of two. It was great seeing the top three spots going to East Africa's finest in the woman's 10,000M......
  24. ^^^^^^^^ Go read the June 2012 Copy of the "Draft Constitution"... Pay Attention to Article 8, Section 1 of the said Document... In English: In Somali:
