Xiin, saaxiib this is the precisely problem.. If these boys were busy supervising their women folk dig, there would be no argument over the poor sheik's face!
-
so duke, what do you about his carbon footprint lately?
-
^ val, so did they say were the registration office was?

puuja, hade its a conspiracy by the secularist to keep you from knowing your history. talib, wallaal, it was way before your time xiin, stop confusing people with these unknown intricacies. As a somali man, you should be giving one very simple instruction, 'go back to your roots and start digging' jimcalee, clearly your just not appreciating the delicate intricacies and ramifications of the discussion

Depends on the object you base your judgment on. ..and since i'm avoiding real work .. You may judge a mass murderer as revolting, but you are probably judging their actions, since with out them acting you do not perceive anything. so then the point (as mentioned) becomes 'do you have the right to judge peoples actions' .. That is even worse because the perception of the action depends on your social and cultural values and outlook, so is your judgment actually worth anything? especially to those that share the same base that you judge from. This is important because the value of a judgment is most typically social, since the social interpretation dictates what we attach to that judgment, i..e its severity. So then you have to wonder how does a society decide what to judge, how to interpret it and what value to place in the judgement..

you dont even know about it!!!! its sort of like the underground, but being somali it's just a little hole in the ground and generally located at the back of the hut.. Think of it as the ultimate insurance scheme for your modesty abaayo.

Is this some kind of badly veiled call for men to stand to attention and impregnate ..while there is time or something?
-
^ that is true. Before colonial times somalis lead the way with modesty. In fact to insure their modesty was protected from the eyes of the geel-gire, naagaha somaalida godh bay qodan jireen, kamana soo bixi jirin!

How many muslims lead a 'dignified' life in your last count? and what does being a muslim have to do with leading a dignified life, or arn't muslims people anymore? btw, another cup is a nice album, sounds like his early folk like 'tea for the tillerman', its soulful but not urgent. Do you still rate him? Intuiton, i've always liked that song. Its from the tea for the tillerman album. thanks for the vid link

Originally posted by Northerner: A dictator has two or three meanings. Which one of the following are we talking about? a) An absolute ruler. b) A tyrant; a despot. I would call a tyrant a dictator but not the 'clean' absolute ruler. Would you really put King Abdulallah in that category? YES, because he resides over an absolutist monarchy -- Thhough the list candidates says more about the authors/compilers notion of a dictaror than any thing else

Saaxiib, wrt 'landers', you generally insult people when you name them after their colonisers and oppressors. Btw. if the british wernt turning teh waqooyi into their livestock garrison for Aden and killing anyone in their way .. what extacly where they doing there ?! I dont know, maybe i just missed the 'glory' days
-
its propaganda not history. It weaves together a set of horrible and tragic events i.e. italian and birtish clonialisation, and the attacks on waqoyiga to push an agenda/ Essentially its saying that the waqoyi is fundamentally dieffrent to the rest of somalia because the british ba$tardised it and bare blitzed it -- therefore lets raise the flag. These events are tragic and true, but the suffering of the waqooyi is not disconnected from the rest of somalia. all our grand/great parents were subjects of some european power and bare took it out on every one that he didnt like. Those he missed were got by the cannibals that followed him.... so whats the point. The vids editting is terrible not because its not flashy but it misrepresents recent history picking images and points that suite the 'flag' agenda. If that isnt the case why isnt a word said about the countless other massacres that happened to the somalis outside of waqooyi during and after bare. so unwrap the green white and red over your head and open your eyes.

G: "The whole country is much safer, since thousands of millitiua fighters and their heavy equipment has been done away, thus this small spike in violence and the low grade nature of it posses no real danger.." Not exactly, there is no 'whole country'. Eastern and Mid-Southern somalia have been in effect two seperate mini-states. Where in the Bari, things have been under the control of the TFG defacto via Yusuf . Therefore when we say 'whole country,' it actually means: "what was already under the TFGs control" + "what has just come under their control". Since the areas that were already under their control havent changed, they must be treated as constants. i.e. unless there is rivalry or a conflict of interest between eastern and mid/southern somalia any relative change in the safety of eastern somalia, only reflects local policies - independ of the rest. Therefore if you want to make a case for the change for the TFG in the country as whole, what you have to talk about is the relative change in the safety in middle and southern somalia, since these are what has changed for the TFG. Anyhow, it is reasonable to see a deterioration when a relatively distrusted power takes over, so it is premature for you to argue that they have become an agent of good, instead, the test for them is the longterm safety. What will it be like when/if they are in power for a year or 2 - two months is just too short. And could you stop going on about "low grade violence" - Do people die low grade? Its like some foools argument for deaths being numbers. Violence is violence, people are still dying and its still tragic. Trying to wrap it up in americanims with their psuedo-technical language is just dishonerable to innocents that are caught in the middle
