  1. This is not only a distant tale, someone else’s story or a unique event limited to afterlife. No! In fact this is the story, tales and events of our everyday lives we have become too blinded to realise, and maybe it would be a worthwhile to take a moment of pause and acknowledge that fact. The fact that, despite Allah’s overabundant supplies of Bounty, Mercy and Generosity, we humans are never satisfied either seemingly deserving or undeservingly. The fact that Allah is All-Merciful and we humans are ever increasingly ungrateful. No shame will stop us from being that way, so, we as nomads, what should we do to at least acknowledge that fact? All opinions are appreciated. And o yeah, some nomads may look surprised and think, what!? Humorous Allah!? To which I can only aswer; who created humour in the first place? Brother Mohammad, jazaka-Allahu khayran for the xadiith, I knew I was missing other ones.
  2. Viking, I guess you would be so kind enough to provide a link to Nur's writings on the subject for us Thanks.
  3. Dear brothers and sisters, This is the tale of a man known as the last to enter paradise. Narrated by Abu Dharr (rc): Allah’s Messenger (sall-Allahu calayhi wasallam) said: I know the last of the dwellers of Hell to come out and the last of the people of Paradise to enter. He is a man who would be brought before Allah on the Day of Resurrection. Then Allah will command the angels: Ask him about the minor sins and hide the major ones. Then it will be said to him: On such a such day you did that and that sin; and on such and such day you comitted that and that bad deed. The Prophet (sall-Allahu calayhi wasallam) added: It will be said to him: In place of every evil deed, you will be granted one good deed. The prophet (sall-Allahu calayhi wasallam) continued. The sinner would say: My Lord! I have done things which I do not find here. The narrator said: Indeed I saw the Messenger of Allah (sall-Allahu calayhi wasallam) laugh until his premolar teeth were visible. Tirmidi (Xadiith Qudsi) (Nevertheless, it wasn’t an easy ride!) Narrated by Cabdullaah Ibn Mascuud (rc): Allah’s Messenger (sall-Allahu calayhi wasallam) said: The last entrant of Paradise would be a man who would walk once, stumble once and be burnt by the Fire once. Then when he passes beyond it, he will turn to it and say: Blessed is He Who has saved me from thee and has given to me something He has not given to any one of those in earlier or later times. Then a tree would be raised for him and he will say: O my Lord! Bring me closer to this tree so that I may take shelter in its shade and drink of its water. Allah, the Exalted and Great, would say: O son of Adam! If I grant you this, you will ask Me for something else. He would say: No, my Lord. And he would promise Him that he would not ask for anything else. His Lord would excuse him because He sees what he cannot help desiring; so He would bring him near it, and he would take shelter in its shade and drink of its water. Afterwards a tree more beautiful than the first would be raised before him and he would say: O my Lord! Bring me near this tree in order that I may drink of its water and take shelter in its shade and I shall not ask Thee for anything else. Allah would say: O son of Adam! Did you not promise Me that you would not ask Me for anything else? He will reply: Probably I shall not ask for anything else if You bring me near it and he will promise that he wouldn’t ask. His Lord will excuse him because He sees something he cannot help desiring. So He would bring him near it and he would enjoy its shade and drink its water. Then a tree would be raised for him at the gate of Paradise, more beautiful than the first two. He would say: O my Lord! Bring me near this (tree) so that I may enjoy its shade and drink from its water. I shall not ask Thee for anything else. His Lord would excuse him for He sees something the temptation of which he could not resist. Allah would bring him near it, and when He brings him near it he would hear the voices of the inhabitants of the Paradise. He would say: O my Lord! Admit me to it. Allah would say: O son of Adam! What will bring an end to your requests to Me? Will it please you if I give you the whole world and a similar one with it? He will say: O my Lord! Are You mocking at me, though You are the Lord of the worlds? While narrating this Xadith Ibn Mascuud laughed and asked (the hearers): Why don't you ask me what I am laughing at. They (then) said: Why do you laugh? He said: It is in this way that the Messenger of Allah (sall-Allahu calayhi wasallam) also laughed. They (the companions of the Holy Prophet) asked: Why do you laugh, O Messenger of Allah? He replied: On account of the laugh of the Lord of the worlds, when the desirous of Paradise said: Are You mocking at me though You are the Lord of the worlds? At this Allah would remark: I am not mocking at you, but I am All-Capable to do whatever I wish. Saxiix Muslim, (Xadiith Qudsi) Shams-ud-Din
  4. Brother Muhammad, Very interesting post, especially the Qur’anic specification of the different stages of the Nafs deserves our attention. It is important to realise our potentialities in full, so I’m adding some of my understandings on the subject, which I hope will advance a sincere discussion of our essence as spiritual beings before anything else and ought to behave accordingly between the service checks of our voyage-vehicles. The Nafs (self) which is the technical name for the Ruux (spirit) when it resides in the body, can sometimes be generalised as being one and the same, but for in depth understanding, we need to classify more technically from time to time. The Ruux, coming from Allah (swt), is originally pure and it is only when is breathed into the body that it becomes Nafs, that is receptive of the whisperings of Shaydaan, because of the contamination arising from the contact between the spirit from heaven on one hand and the desires from our lower bestial nature of the animalistic body. This Nafs becomes a heavy burden when we try to carry it upwards, away from the bestial downfall, and make the spiritual journey back to our meta-physiological history; that is the state we were on the day of “AM I NOT YOUR LORD?†The earthly stages of the Nafs can be simplistically generalised into three spheres of processes, which is a continuous lifetime struggle leading to the fourth and ultimate desired sphere, but I’m doubtful whether it is possible in this carnal existence. And this is what I wish to discuss, if there is anyone interested in contemplating these spheres more closely. Nafs-al-Amaarah (12:53) is the first layer which is the immoral primitive personality of the self with no higher consciousness and always inclined to the inherent nature of the animal, which is no different from Shaydaan. Nafs-al-Lawwaamah (75:2) is the second layer which is much higher than the first one, because this Nafs has the filter character built within self. This character building may have taken place through external and environmental factors (such as an acquired religion, culture, educational training, etc.), but with the result that it is able to recognise vice from virtue, morality from immorality, good from evil, tawxiid from shirk, etc. Nafs-al-Hamah (91:8) is the third layer and most difficult to define, as it may include a wide rage contrasting segmentations, but this is far superior to the previous spheres as it has in addition to (possibly) noble character, mentality or a mental order with the ambition, ability and (at times) the appropriate attitude to undertake its journey. Ofcourse it has lows and peaks, depending on the mental order, it can virtually appear as of belonging either the one lower or the highest sphere, but uncertainty prevails and one cannot sit back and relax! Nafs-ul-Mudtma’innah (89:27) is the final destination of all spheres possible for the Nafs to ascend to, however, so far, besides Messengers, Prophets and select individuals, I’m not sure we can technically define any mere mortal as being beyond sphere three as long as we haven’t reached the day it will be commanded; “Yaa ayyatuhan-nafsul mudtma’innah!†Unfortunately, we have no guarantee that we will die in that state, but it is our duty to strife in achieving that sphere, and I ask Allah to make us all one of them! 5. Muslims march over cartoons of the Prophet By Kate Connolly in Berlin (Filed: 04/11/2005) A Danish experiment in testing "the limits of freedom of speech" has backfired - or succeeded spectacularly - after newspaper cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed provoked an outcry. Thousands of Muslims have taken to the streets in protest at the caricatures, the newspaper that published them has received death threats and two of its cartoonists have been forced into hiding. Anders Fogh Rasmussen called the cartoons a 'necessary provocation' Jyllands-Posten, Denmark's leading daily, defied Islam's ban on images of the Prophet by printing cartoons by 12 different artists. In one he is depicted as a sabre-wielding terrorist accompanied by women in burqas, in another his turban appears to be a bomb and in a third he is portrayed as a schoolboy by a blackboard. The ambassadors of 11 Muslim countries called on Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the prime minister, to take "necessary steps" against the "defamation of Islam". But Mr Rasmussen, the head of a centre-Right minority coalition dependent for its survival on support from an anti-foreigner party, called the cartoons a "necessary provocation" and refused to act. "I will never accept that respect for a religious stance leads to the curtailment of criticism, humour and satire in the press," he said. The Danish debate over how to integrate Muslims has raged for years, with nursery school menus and women-only opening hours for swimming pools particular battlegrounds. But the cartoons satirising the Prophet have injected a dangerous new element into the controversy. "This is a pubescent demonstration of freedom of expression that consciously and totally without reason has trampled over the feelings of many people," said Uffe Ellemann Jensen, a former foreign minister and member of Mr Rasmussen's party. Carsten Juste, the editor of Jyllands-Posten, spurned demands that he apologise, saying he "would not dream" of saying sorry. "To demand that we take religious feelings into consideration is irreconcilable with western democracy and freedom of expression," he said. "This doesn't mean that we want to insult any Muslims." Juste commissioned the cartoons after learning of the difficulties a children's writer, Kare Bluitgen, had in finding an illustrator for his book on the Koran and the Prophet's life. Bluitgen said all the artists he approached feared the wrath of Muslims if they drew images of Mohammed. Many cited the murder of the Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh by an Islamist as a reason for refusal. Juste said he wanted to counter growing "self censorship" and see how many cartoonists would be "bold enough" to draw the Prophet. One artist, Franz Füchsel, said he intended no offence. "But I live in 2005, not 905 and I use my quill in the way that Danish law allows me." Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the Dutch MP famous for her criticism of Islam and author of the screenplay for Mr Van Gogh's film Submission, supported the paper. "It's necessary to taunt Muslims on their relationship with Mohammed," she said. "Otherwise we will never have the dialogue we need to establish with Muslims on the most central question: 'Do you really feel that every Muslim in 2005 should follow the way of life the Prophet had 1,400 years ago, as the Koran dictates?' On Death

Dear brothers and sisters, One quick correction: The Imaam was abuu Xaniifah, not ibn Xambel as I thought and the verse was "Balissaacatu mawciduhum wassaacatu adthaa wa aghar" instead of "Wajaa'at sakratul mawti..." I hope to be forgiven for the mistake!

Sister Femme, you write: Shams ud Din, Therefore, my friend, grab your macawiis and get the hell out of there. Simple. These are exactly my thoughts; but are coming with your dirac and guntiino too? May be we can book the same flight......what you say?

    On Death

Brother Muhammad, There was a man in the past who used to repeat between cishaa prayers and fajr prayers only this one verse from the Qur’aan: “Wajaa’at sakratul mawti bil xaqqi daalika maa kunta minhu taxiid†(And the stupor of death will come in truth: This is what you have been avoiding!) I think it was Imaam Axmed ibn Xambal, but I’ll look it again. In the mean time, death is a subject which deserves our attention, not only as an event, but as a mere transition of greater continuous event with regard to spiritual immortality beyond the temporal carnality. Death can have many meanings; most of which are beautiful if understood properly for which contemplation and sincere worship are essential in achieving that. So, jazakallahu khayran brother for the post and please keep us reminding of death from now and then as to remain focused, for indeed DEATH is XAQQ!

Assalaamu calaykum Dear all brothers and sisters, Our dear sister Femme writes: If your not in an Islamic country then your religious preferences have to take a back seat. Therefore ..... ?
  11. This will not only enhance our bounds of Sisterhood, but will also strengthen the fibers of the Muslim Ummah as we acquire and utilize the wisdom of Islam, Insha-Allah. Dear sister, What most people don’t realise about Islamic sisterhood, is its overall significance for the cohesion and tenderness experienced in the home, community, society and the Ummah as a whole, which, by Allah’s leave, nurtures and collectivises the mother-child relationship to an equally important sisterhood-society relationship. One only needs to understand in order to appreciate all the aspects of life, made possible by our tireless sisters, daughters, wives and mothers. These are truly beautiful words of a sincere sister to an equally sincere sister. May Allah strengthen your love and bonds made for his sake, and I greet you both in peace. WCWW
  12. Dear brothers, Interesting hedging strategy indeed! But there are still too many “who purchased error for guidance, so their commerce was profitless†(Q 2:16), and those who realise that “there are much more profits and booties with Allah†(Q 4:94) and invest according to (Q 35:29) advice, face the most difficulties in making their choices. Imagine all the victims of Isustus Mutual Funds and their brokers Generosity & Bravery Inc. who continue to dominate most markets. No wonder that the reliable brokers such as Ikhlaas & Co are struggling to compete. It makes no sense to me that there are so many people wasting their funds and continuously loose out in the most secure and lucrative investment options at their disposal
  13. Brother Muhammad, If it was compiled by Muslims, then I agree with you that we should point out whatever they've overlooked and correct them that way. My initial reactions were based on the glimpse of the URL and the assumption following that these material as originating from that source. But brief or not brief, I don't understand how they could find the space to mention some unnecessary historical details, and yet fail to mention the Ifat and Adal states, their struggle with the Christians, the heroic achievements of Axmed Gurrey, the Islamic centres of Harar, Saylac, Kilwa, etc, the ultimate defeat of the Portuguese catholic crusaders in partnership with Oman sultanate, not to mention the more contemporary history in the colonial era?
  14. Brother Nur, What!? Did you say Zero Risk Portfolio is promised? That sounds to me a bargain!!! Well, in that case then it is a matter of quick “O you who believe! Spend of that with which We have provided for you, before a Day comes when there will be no bargaining†(2: 254), “Then rejoice in the bargain which you have concluded. Hat is the supreme success†(9:111)!
  15. Dear brothers and sisters, As a Muslim, I have my reservations concerning some of the choices made in the listing of these chronological events which may indicate poor judgement, but as an East-African Muslim, I’m outraged and disappointed at the same time for the compilers’ (ignorance?) narrow minded account of Islamic history! Maybe the moderators could send an e-mail on behalf of the nomads, demanding explanation from the relevant USC department.
  16. ** Hoping our forgetfullness was a case of (18:63) and not that of (4:94) ** Brother Ducaqabe, It must be (Qur'aan 18:63) because what brought us on this table in the first place was the prospect of filling in the membership sheet on (Qur'aan 41:33), so we may be nominated for the (Qur'aan 38:46)! But you know (Qur'aan 35:6) and his cheep shots below belt as it may has been in this case, just as all investments fluctuate, we're hopefully recovering and are back on track. The only problem is when you don't know who to invest with, because some are investing in the bubble markets rejecting to invest with us like those in (Qur'aan 41:5), while we decided to invest in the real estate markets as offered by e-Nuri investment schemes. We've seen your name listed on the membership sheet, so all you need to do is buy some shares
  17. “If the hearts neglect the tables of this worldly life, they will sit at the tables of the Hereafter among the people of this invitation, but if they are satisfied with the tables of this worldly life they will miss the others.†(Ibn Al-Qayyim) Brother Muhammad, I think we may have misallocated our “dualar†capital and invested our portfolios in the wrong markets up to now and brought us on the verge of bankruptcy. What we need is a financial plan to identify which digsi yields most profit returns. I hope that brother Nur could provide us with one too. Is there an estimate of our total losses so far?
  18. It is necessary that you constantly evaulate the the state of your inner-kingdom so as to sustain its structure. Does corruption abound in your kingdom? Is every branch of your state (soldiers, viziers, monarach) performing its given function? Are there any dissidents that need to pay the "wages of disloyalty"? Brother Mutakallim, Assalaamu calaykum. This is a very interesting post and jazaakal-Laahu khayran for sharing it with us. If I may, I would like to offer a more practical framework concerning what you’ve referred to as “the inner-kingdom†and relate its factual aspects to other forum members, which I believe will do more justice to the importance of this inner-kingdom, than the above technically linguistic mysticism post that cannot be understood by everyone. Also in this post, I’m partly attempting to clear the ruled faculties from any suspicion of dissidence and sabotage, because we don’t want to see people misinterpreting you cry for revenge/justice (wages of disloyalty) and harming themselves not realising the reality of kin-kingdom relationship. To me it is a practical kingdom, where there is a king who rules over his subjects and in sub-sequence these subjects carry out their appropriated tasks. Therefore it is a kingdom of unified action; meaning, the command and obedience is inseparable, because the king is answerable to the Greatest King who granted him his kingdom in the first place. All responsibility rest thus on the shoulders of that king, and Allah, the Most Just, would never undermine him by giving him a rebellious and disobedient subjects, for the inner king-kingdom relationship, the subjects are not answerable to the king and religious logic tells us that there must be a complete sovereignty of will. However, it is always the king himself that commits the crimes against his subjects and turns out to be the tyrant oppressive ruler. This king is the heart! There are two authentic prophetic narrations which can demonstrate that fact quite clearly and easily, and although I can’t remember exact wording, I do remember its meaning and I hope we are all familiar with so that we can post them soon with reference. The first one is recorded in Tirmidi I believe, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Every morning all the parts/faculties of the body surrenders in total submission to the commands of the tongue†(or the equivalent), and since the tongue really is nothing other than the manifestation of the heart, the faculties of the body pledge and renew their loyalty to the king every morning when the spirits are returned. The second narration is more famous and states that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “There is one part of the body, which, if pure, the whole body is pure and if corrupted, the whole body is corrupted; alaa hiyal qalb or that place is the heartâ€! The above implicates the picture because our faculties have no will of their own and your sentimental mood of principal-agent problem is partly unjustified (yes there is the problem of the unchaste wife of the king -call it nafs or ego if you must- who is never satisfied, but is not part of the active kigdom of command and obedience beyond advisory role as a member of the royal family). I hope that we have now reduced the whole problem to single focal point (the heart) where we can focus all our efforts if we want better ourselves. We can even go further and reduce all the possible actions that we can take to purify the king to a single all embracing action. You have rightfully identified the necessity of love for the Divine and its impact on the heart, but we cannot talk about loving Allah without longing for His Love. There are for example many Muslims and non-Muslims (i.e. people of the book) who claim to love Allah/God, but their love is worthless because Allah is not pleased with them and hence don’t qualify for His Love. So this vital aspect of mutual love is central to the single most important action needed to purify the heart from all diseases and plant the true tree of faith whose fruits are so sweet that there are no words of my own to describe them. This is to follow the Sunnah! Just consider the following verse when Allah commands the Prophet (peace be upon him) to say: “If you love Allah, follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. For Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful†(3:31) There are many lessons from the above verse and I hope it is clear to every one that to achieve true love for Allah and qualify for His Love, we have to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) very closely, if we don’t, then our love is a baseless lie and more importantly, Allah won’t love us! It is interesting to note that the position of following of the prophet equates to love too, as we need to love our prophet more than anything else, it becomes inconceivable to be overcome by any obstacles which you love more and can prevent you from following the Prophet (peace be upon him). There is another lesson in “Allah will love you and forgive you your sinsâ€, which shows that Allah can love even those (believers) who have committed sins, and He will be pleased when they show repentance as well. These words of Allah, as they offer us a bargain to benefit from His Gracious promises just by fulfilling what is commanded in the first half of the verse, are unfortunately only comforting for those “who has a heart or gives ear while he is heedful†(50:37). To summarise, the heart needs to be loving, living and pure, and can get to that status by following in loving, in living and in purity the teachings of the Messenger (peace be upon him) and as a consequence, our inner-kingdoms will live in harmony with the outer-Kingdom. Thus healing from all diseases and purification from all corruptions will be achieved that way, and that way only! It doesn’t mean that we will be sinless; we are sinners by nature as made evident in our weaknesses, inclination to erroneous tendencies and our imperfect knowledge. In fact, our secret weapon arises from these weaknesses, which elevated Adam (peace be upon him) to the most honourable being in Allah’s sight, left the angels confused about it and proved to be the downfall of Iblis (cursed is he); and that secret weapon is repentance! In trying to make that point clear to us, our Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if you did not commit sin, Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace you with those who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and he would pardon themâ€. Some may be amused by the fact that I didn’t mention the Qur’aan, so I’ll explain that issue further, especially for those who don’t understand the unity of purpose between the Qur’aan and the Sunnah. The qur’aan, as Allah (swt) says is “an exhortion from your Lord, a healing for that which is in your hearts, a guidance and mercy for the believers†(10:57) “And we send down of the Qur’aan that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe†(17:82). The condition therefore is to believe in order to be healed and purified by the Qur’aan, and if you’ve paid attention to the above verses, then you’d have realised that, and only that “It is a guidance and a healing for those who believe†(41:44). So who believes, the one following the footsteps of the Messenger (peace be upon him) or the one who doesn’t? The Qur’aan is not for recitation only, rather, it should be the embodiment of your life and the only way to live by the Qur’aan is to emulate and live a life which is like that of the great example of guide, meaning and message from the Qur’aan whose heart was descended on. It is the life or the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as Aisha (Allah be pleased with her) observed that “his conduct was nothing but the Qur’aan†(reported in Muslim). We should also remember the supplications of a great lover of Allah, whom Allah loved him very much and therefore made His friend, when he said: “Our Lord! Raise up in the midst of our offspring a Messenger from among them who shall recite to them Your verses and instruct them in the Book and in Wisdom and purify their lives. Verily, You are Mighty, Wise. (2:129). So, when I say the Sunnah with regards to the purification of the heart, I’m not disregarding the Qur’aan, instead I’m implementing the instruction of the Qur’aan Itself. I hope that I’ve helped and the framework that I’ve put forward will give us a great deal of freedom to discuss the problem in the depths of pity and the heights of asceticism in our short-lived lives. I will also dearly welcome any comments on this post be it negative or positive. Shams-ud-Din
  19. Brothers, brothers, Nur’s “good food that goes with that digsi†has a price which needs to be settled before we can sign Muhammad’s “guestbookâ€! We need to discuss how to pay the bill later at the checkout when it is presented to us. The bill settlement guideline in (21:47) looks encouraging, but not all credit-cards and currencies are accepted except those indicated in section (16:90). So we need to do our maths now instead of ending up like those protesting in vanity from (18:49). Will it make any difference if we eat cheaply and pay in small changes? Because I’m afraid that I haven’t got enough credit in my account to settle the bill! Any idea where we can go for financial assistance?
  20. the digsi is making me salivate for tatsy food, although I am not fond of Swiss German cuisine Brother Nur, No worries the Swiss-German cuisine has no place and probably will never come close to our soul-food on the table. Now the problem with looking in the digsi is the fact that the more you eat soul-food, the hungrier you get for more, and as your brother, I don’t want to see others mistaking you for qorqode (often the starving ones). Akhi, it was the section listing the costumers of The Owner (17:44) that impelled me to gaze for a moment Brother Muhammad, Oh yeah! The exclusive tables on some of the top floors, I read that too and I figured if I eat as much as possible, I might be able to catch a glace at some of them from distance! Some say because of this never ending meal, the gazing mostly takes place between the bites, so please be seated. Did you read the initial guarantee in section (9:115) of the rules and regulations pardoning us from becoming persona non-grada before the ingredients are fully made clear to us? A manager did come however (and how customer friendly was he (9:128)), he showed us detailed lists explaining the sections (10:1) and (10:9), I’m sure you guys were very impressed with him too! But does it mean that our initial immunity is now lifted?
  21. Dear brothers, I’ve been invited to this particular restaurant (if you wish to examine my invitation papers, we can take care of it), so may I join your table? As I was entering this inclusive restaurant, so far awarded with 99 Michelin stars, my eye caught the rules and regulation terms stated at the door. It showed the menu list of tonight and the two prior courses before this last main one we’re having now (95:1, 2 & 3) It stated that we are seated at the best and highest available seats, but if we order outside the given menu, we will be thrown out of this top of the world restaurant and be reduced to eat from the garbage! (95:4 & 5) So the only ones allowed to remain in the restaurant are those who order their meals within the given menu list, who will enjoy what they eat with a never disappearing taste (95:6) Unfortunately, I was too hungry to finish reading all the terms and conditions explaining the rules of engagements, such as section (5:35) with regards to: 1) How to be inside the restaurant 2) How to behave inside the restaurant 3) How to call and order your meal 4) How to wait for your order and remain there 5) How to eat and enjoy from the benefits Therefore, in our "Frei will ich sein im Denken und im Dichten" mentality hides the danger of expulsion from this privileged position! P.S. Brother Mohammed, why do you sit in the ardaa cross-legged or in awkward kadaloobsi position when you can enjoy your bunn in the restaurant? And brother Nur, no qooraansi in the digsi please
  22. Brother Nur, AAMIIN and jazaakal-Laahu khayran.

  24. Jazakal-Laahu khayran for the post sis. As for the Fire, and who will make you know what the Fire is? It is the abode of evil creatures, the place of filth, disgrace and ignominy. It is so deep that if a rock is thrown into it from its brink it will not be able to reach its bottom in seventy years. Once the greatest messenger of the heavens (Gabriel (cs)) supplicated to Allah (swt) while in a company with the greatest Messenger of the worlds (Muhammad (cs)), saying: “Whoever fails to safe his soul from the Hellfire, even though he had the opportunity of the month Ramadan to enter Paradise because of it; may Allah throw him into the depths of the Fire!†On which our Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) replied: “Aamiin!†(I apologise for my bad memory concerning the above hadith, I left out the part about the parents to indicate the significance of Ramadan in avoiding Hellfire and entering Paradise)
