December 07, 2007 06:01 am.- By Mohamed Abdi Farah. - Send this news article (SomaliNet) The deputy governor of Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia for political affairs, Abdulahi Hassan Ganey ‘Firimbi’ has died at the age of 60s on Friday morning, local authorities said. Mr. Firimbi, died at the Medina hospital where he has been ill these days, according to the deputy governor of Mogadishu for the security Abdifitah Ibrahim Shaweye. The death of Firimbi has shocked the officials in Banadir authority as great loss to the government. The body of late Firimbi will be buried today as the funeral will be attended by senior officials in transitional federal government. He is the second man that Banadir authority lost. On April 20, the deputy mayor Ibrahim Omar Shaweye died at a hospital in Nairobi for an injury of an explosion. He has been in the hospital since he was injured by shrapnel of an explosion that was targeted on his convoy in Mogadishu on February. Two of his aides were killed in that explosion. Meanwhile, in Baidoa city, northwest of Somalia, a security officer was injured by unknown militants overnight, witnesses said.. Mukhtar Jiis, a member of national security service, was shot by armed men in central of Baidoa last night. The attackers escaped unharmed. Mr. Jiis was admitted to hospital where he is now being treated. Also in Baidoa, the security forces said they arrested several people in connection with the latest bomb attacks which wounded eight people mainly government workers. The security was tightened as policemen were deployed in all streets to keep an eye on any activity that might create instability.
