    Poetry Chain

I'll go second then.....lol One of my favorite poems is by Ms.Nikki Giovanni called "choices". I just love how she worded it. if i can't do what i want to do then my job is to not do what i don't want to do it's not the same thing but it's the best i can do if i can't have what i want . . . then my job is to want what i've got and be satisfied that at least there is something more to want since i can't go where i need to go . . . then i must . . . go where the signs point through always understanding parallel movement isn't lateral when i can't express what i really feel i practice feeling what i can express and none of it is equal i know but that's why mankind alone among the animals learns to cry

  3. First, My father, whom I adore and love is a Somali man as well my brothers and cousins who constantly give me advice, priase me, scold me and care deeply for me. However, there are some individuals who happen to be somali men that I might have a low opinion of for what ever reason but it not based on the fact that they are somali.

  7. Yasmine! Dang Macaanto Mansha'allah, that has to be one of the best poems I have read on here. Short and sweet. direct and deep.
  8. Word!Deligence I hate people sleeping on such a fine and wordly written poetry. Acknowledge it! Nice piece
  9. I never knew you can dislike someone so passionately Most of the time, trying to clutch on to ma sanity Stop comparing me to others, stop using my flaws to make me feel like dirt Only if you knew how much it hurt Sometimes you actually have me believing I certainly am worthless and pointless It hurts in the pit of my stomach to think how dumb and clueless Long but well worth the read, though you just need to break the rhyme sequence within the sentence so the lines don't end up longer than the one before it What do I see when I think of you, honestly speaking, it ain’t picture perfect But lets talk a lil’ more and discuss this topic and how it’s affect has caused so much neglect and disrespect.
  10. At first I was in one of these oooh this is so sweet modes but I when i got to the end.... Now the feelings fold, its not the same... you didnt even know I had a name And how dare you call this obsession! I could care less about yo fame. So prepare to be slain and yes this is a cliff, not an illusion. And I didnt do it... but now you must, literally jump to conclusions You started scaring me but I liked the word flow and content with depth.
  11. Seatttttle! or siyaatal a.k.a The Emerald city how ever you know it as! I love this lush, green, serene city that has been a place to lay my head on for ten years now.the home of Starbucks, Microsoft, Boeing, and the space needle. It's just its habitants that fcuk it up.Litterly!
  12. Female Genital Mutilation is the topic for my senior project but like the above activists, it's like i'm being sacreligious if I gainsay it though there are some women who do realise that it is wrong and it isn't required by the religion though its of cultural significane but c'est la vie. anyway I want to thank you for posting this article and it does my heart good to see such writtings. "They divided into two groups, the traditionalists, and those like myself who say that female circumcision is killing people." He knows this is true: his own wife brought six pregnancies to term, but all the babies were stillborn because the birth canal was too tight. "We say: 'Are you better than God that you tamper with His work? Allah opened the mouth. Would you cut and stitch that too?'" Word! Good point
  13. The chips commercial where the grandpa and grandma are racing each other for lays chips and they do all this devious things but the grandpa wins when he trips the granny and puts a cane on her back to hold her down..so he ends getting the chips....but he can't eat it cause the grand ma is holding Pappy's dentures in her hand.that was memorable.
  14. I was shocked when I heard it on the news and couldn't believe it that it happened as I watched it. May they rest in peace and be rewarded with paradise
  15. In Puntland, Col. Yusuf is both the person and the law. Kind of reminds me of what Barre was accused of...no?

    As We Lay

As we lay in silk bed sheets with our moistened bodies seeking heat emitting passionate moans while love reeks with every sight you draw from me,my sweet While we're laying in silk a child cries for milk that the mother is enable to provide cause her brown fruits are dry... I start to cry as you kiss my neck your hand cupping my full breast my body arching with unrest as you slowly explore me like a map... How sad is it when it's vital that a child becomes a weapon for means of survival loses hope..cause adults can't cope with a president from a tribe other than theirs. The hairs start to raise on my back sweat glistens as you slip between my thighs small sighs....escape as you come home turning away I wish I could go home but like a cell phone I roam in foreign Lands Overstand......why I start to feel hopeless Damn What would I do to see Somalia again I don't even want to ponder at the thought cause pressure builds with in me turning to need as you climax planting a seed deep in my womb Knowing it will never grow in its land I turn to my side to sleep I wish for the sight of peace but it seems like i'm blind what a bind...... we're in but I know all we need is time but we couldn't afford it when it was golden now it upgraded to platnium so the warlords are holding it for ransom what am I supposed to do but the thought flew as his hand kneaded my thighs I turn to him offering peace but all he wants to do is feast and we wonder why peace remains illusive when all we want to do f*ck it

  21. you try in vain to tarnish the names of the above Mujahidins but then I think to myself you are simply not worth it Kaahin is a mujahidin to you? I guess in that case Morgan is an awliya.
  22. Although i have a question to ask some people, is it is just me or are people calling the hawd by an other name, and talking about it as if it is a piece of land that is anything but under the colonialism of ethiopia? I've always wondered what was Cayn?
  23. Mansha'allah Being dubbed the Nation of Poets, how can we not express our selves and find our voices through poetry when we're in foreign soil. I hope they all succeed in their endeavors. She seems like a intellectual young lady who is very ambitious. Her poem is simplistic and describtive and offers poignant portrayal of when she fled somalia through the eyes of a six year old. More power to her and all of us.
