Anybody saw Cutting Edge doc "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding"? Couldn't help thinking how similar gypsies were to Somalis! Marriage, marriage, marriage. It seems like our whole lives revolve around marriage and getting married? You know what I think is repulsive? Marrying under 24! People, there is a whole world out there. Explore it. Maxaatirri, I hope you find love & marry inshaAllah.

Somalis are racist towards timo jilaac, indha yare, cadaan, dhuxul, gor goro ween and so on. And they discriminate against each other.

A combination of different people. Funnily enough, my niece just recently told me I was her role model.

^ lol, muxadarroyinka always make me fall asleep... for some odd reason. Talking about falling asleep, do you know what is annoying? Turning up for the utmost boring lecture, only to find out it's cancelled. It's 9:40AM, what am I supposed to do until 2PM?

I love that last bit, Maxaatirri. That is the best thing I have heard the whole day. Have to say #11 is slightly odd. I thought only the Bible said God is a jealous god.

Somali Women and Revert Marriage Phenomenon
5 replied to Mr. Gello - The proud Soma's topic in General
^ Usually people who say "ilaahey dardiisa aan isku guursano" are the worst spouse material. They are probably people who have re-found God recently and decide to lead the most perfect life ever. Their patience usually lasts for months or so. -
The 56-year-old man is a member of the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (known as religious police outside the Kingdom). The defendant plead to the court that he was ignorant of the Islamic principle as having only completed elementary schooling. So how did he become a member of the religious forces? I agree with Maxaatirri. Really bad title. The guy's a hypocrite, not religious.

^ Lol Dallo is the worst airline ever. They don't even know when they fly. It's like Universal TV, schedule dhan ma heestaan. They fly when they can, and they let you believe they fly the day you want/need to fly.

By every objective measure, she qualifies as public intellectual. Lauren Conrad (the girl from MTV's the Hills) is a NY Times Best Seller. Zac Efron (the pretty guy from Disney's High School Musical) was also named 100 Most Influential People by the Time Magazine. Anna Wintour (editor-in-chief of Vogue) has been invited as honorary speaker to some of the most prestigious institutions of higher learning in the world. My friend @ Oxford had her last semester. It's great to see how you confuse fame with intellectualism. I think to you intelligent is whatever happens to be most popular at the moment. And islam bashing certainly is the hippest thing to do these days. But she's more than. She's a much needed socioreligious critic. The only religion she seems to be critizicing is Islam. That just makes her an islamophobe, plain & simple. People like her have served an indispensable role in all the developed countries today. By writing ghastly "art" films? No society in history has made progress without first exercising self-criticism of its core assumptions and deepest held believes. How about excercising honesty? She lied her way into the Dutch society and into the hearts of the Dutch people, yet hypocritically opposed immigration. In another life, people like Ayaan were burned at the stake. In another life, people like Ayan would have not been allowed in the country in the first place. She'd have been burnt at the stake, but most likely for being Muslim. The whole ayaan hirsi saga is a reflection of the backwardness of Muslims. She's entirely innocent bystander. You can call her whatever you like; innocent, lawyer, intellectual... But the sad fact is, this is just a woman who found fame by abusing Islam. She sold herself the same way as reality TV stars sell themselves; by sharing their (water coloured) lifestories and backbiting. Don't rape the word "intellectual".

Aaliyah you sound like a sweet girl, manshaAllah! (bite that, Castro) I officially like you.

Yeah exactly, the end result is rewarding, but the whole process is just fun. I think all Somalis come from large families?? I'm just lucky enough in aan dhamaadka imaadey if you get what I mean Everything was washed for me, cooked for me and handed to me

I don't know But don't worry, Liibaax Sankataabte will probably edit it away very soon

But I absolutely love ironing. And this isn't a sarcastic comment. For me it's the same as knitting for some people - good fun

^ If it was Marx, the question would go: "Would you marry a girl who wants to marry you only to get away from Africa? Lets be honest, she has the face of a foot, but..."

I was taking the mickey out of remakes and sequels. Fail to understand how you came to those conclusions there.

*******Edited********* Oh C'mon Libaax San! That was in good spirit! No need for edit. I didn't even understand what he said. Was it even Somali?

LOL I was gonna ask the same question, but then I got lazy. people source these pictures from image libraries. They happen to have more Caucasian hands than black ones; that is all. Yeah, I figured. Though there are over 53 million hits for "black hands" on Google images. Even if they were carab hands, it would still make no sense as majority of us Somalis have dark skin. This applies even to Diana ladies And now that I have perfectly steered the discussion away from its original topic... how did the actual event go? Was there a good turnout?

Worst. Thread. Ever. Don't you have jerk friends to discuss jerk topics like these, mr. jerk? God I feel sorry for you. You're leading a very sad life. Bal ilaahey jidka toosan ha ku soo galiyo.

Originally posted by AfricaOwn: ^^ You don't know her. She might have attended law school and passed the bar (the dutch bar). Who are you? Well, the woman was deported from the country for lying... I have to say she looked pretty good in the blue dress. But I would never call her an "intellectual". She made a name for herself by bashing a religion. Any one of us could write a book degrating our culture and religion. Destroying and criticing is always easy, but creating and building on? Now that takes more.

Aaliyah, I saw what you wrote before you edited it Haneefah, pointless arguments? Zacharias, don't tell me you are one of those people who believe Soomalida carab ayee ka imaadeen? What I really wanted to ask is, will there be any food?
