Any suggestions on how to US citizens can send aid to Somalia for relief?

In the bigger scheme of things, it's Big Oil that runs the US. They'll win regardless of a Kerry or Bush presidency. That said, Bush's evangelical view of world events is very very scary. If you read the internet pages or listen to the radio talk shows of the far far Christian right, they reveal how the extreme misinterpretation of archaic Christian writings provide a justification of what Bush is doing. It feeds right into Cheney's...I mean Big Oil's plans. God save us all.

Sad but true... the ignorance is cultivated and maintained. Anybody who is awake and lives in the US can attest to that. It's embarrassing. In the past, I never understood why the US continues to be bedfellows with Israel. I don't think it's just the Jewish vote. (Although that's why no presidential candidate mentions Palestinian rights during the campaign). Once anyone gets into office (especially for a second term) they could apply hella pressure on Israel. But no.... Why not? As Linda McQuaig wrote, "It's the crude, dude." A militarily secure Israel protects Big Oil interests. Americans are not only ignorant, but addicted to oil. A very dangerous combination, as we have all seen.

OK, then...thanks for the warning. So what do you suggest as a congratulatory gift to someone who is a very special friend.

Is it appropriate to send flowers to a Somali man to say congratulations, or to say I love you?
