What I dont get is the opening ceremony ,where Quran is recited to a group of mostly half naked women,following up with hours of disco dancing,predators doing their thing by the toilets..please guys,when in weddings can the ladies have some space to go pee in peace!!..You find all these guys,leaning on the corridor walls..lol,the aim of the chairs is for sitting down if your not dancing. I think we should stick to tradition,or Islamic marriage rites rather than confuse it with multi dimensions of other cultures and religion rites.

MMA, Not in Somalia,where I grew up,folks did thier uttermost to preserve the traditions.I am assuming the washing of the feet,carrying milk and baby boy is practiced widely in Somalia? The modern weddings are boring,they are neither western, nor traditional somali weddings..hagaa laguu arkee xeer lafureyaa with a live band singing on the stage,folks doing their one step dance routine..xeer fuur used to be an event of comedy,poetry reciting etc etc. Lool, recently a friend got married,she went overboard with the western theme..after cutting the cake,exchanging rings...they kissed..OMG!! you should have seen the faces of the elders...priceless! Gobsmacked they were,as for the young they cheered...signs of modernisation eey!

Umu Zakaria,its understandbly your anxious,these are anxious time,especially being the first pregnancy,inshallah all will be well.Remember the designated dates are just estimates,you might not even not be overdue.. Make sure you take brisk walks thoughout the day...I pray for you,for a safe delivery..

^Yep, once back on the routines,you will be fine.It usually takes a week or so to readjust once one has been away.I got really depressed after being home for a month,I had to come back and straight away start working..I actually felt lonely,miserable..missed the home comforts,missed the parents etc...alright let me not make you cry! Nice to have you back though...it was not the same without you here..

There is fine line between love and hate,I as a parent,I can never comprehend killing of my own for the sake of family name.But many are living in bondage of culture ,tradition and honor...were thy shall living within the context of these boundries.

I think honor means a good opinion of the people who matter to us. In this case their superiority complex of the family over the alleged boyfriend’s clanship. Honor differs from morality, the principle of morality are universally true, in all times and places. But what is honorable depends to some extent on the composition of the honored group. This young girl was severely mistreated, not only by her family but by the justice system. The police ignored her cries for help on four occasions…May Allah rest her soul, he is the only judge of her! The family could have put their pride aside, and marry the two love birds...whats wrong with being the wrong clan? Subhanallah!

me,I see business is booming...lol There are many layers to a person,it doesnt mean if one is married the spouse fulfills all the needs of the other spouse...I believe there is more to everybody,hence chatting or engaging in discussion with strangers fulfills a certain void..,its just a friendly,safe engagement,unless one wants to take it further..thats a different issue.But I wouldnt mind my hubby contributing on a site ,if there is transparency!

As a child,being inquisitive,I noticed on the night of the wedding,the older women,would make a point dancing all night next to the bride and grooms bedroom....How nosy where these old ladies!! I particular,found this interesting,as the bride and the groom enter their home.The bride is given a jug of milk,her feet are washed..while the groom carries a child boy...What was the significance of the washing of the feet?
