  1. North, so your the tour guide miyaa in Dubai?
  2. I am not trying to excuse the bad behaviour of our youth, but there is an undelying problem and from my observations and interaction with young Somali men has always been the lack of parental control and involvement in these young peoples lives. In order for a young man to sucessed in this country or any other western country, there must be a greater parental involvement in their daily lives, especially in their educational process. The lack of guidance incooperate a sense of bewilderment in these young men,not having a continuity of parental involvement as they grow older and are faced with many difficult challenges. These young men I come across are not equiped to deal with the extreme and often violent reaction they receive from their counterparts in schools.Dealing daily with racism, povery, difficult home lives[high level single parent house hold],depression within the families and also many that I know are here with extended families whom really arent meeting these young peoples needs. Lack of high expactation, committment and dedicatin in the betterment of these young people by parents and those whom care for them and also the lack of understanding from the education authorities contribute hugely. All in all, i see too many little faraax crying for someone to extend, help and guide them to the right direction. I am not making an excuse for them to take personal responsibility for their own lives, but believe me as a child one needs great assistant in this.
  3. It all depends at what angle your looking at Somalis, you might find your self being declared as the insane one.

Xan, believe me those boys arent air brushed, last year I was there, my aunt had to help me pick up my jaw from the floor.. p.s, nothing wrong with being dark and skinny, they just have to take a break from all nighters at the mafriishes, riwayadaa, shishaa joints..and practice more! I bet we are more fun though!

  14. Yes dear, they are in Africa, but you cant judge the whole of Africa based on these two counties, one which is on its knees due to a long civil war,the other..erm,dont know what to say.. I advice you take a tour of Africa, you will be trully amazed..ofcouse poverty is still there, diseases are still there, but there is some development..
  15. Abwaan ,have you been to Africa recently?

  19. Lool,Xan, I will try and be realistic, but Africa is so dear to me..I was those geeky kids whom was very political conscious about Africa and its struggles..My heros, were the founders of the Pan African Movement..so probably that romantic notion of that movement is still stirring within me.. Jacaylbaro,is right the development that is made by the East African union is making such an improvement in these countries.
  20. Xanthus, Somalia is exceptional case,a pain in the neck of a case...but again,Somalia despite its crippling civil war,its still making headlines news interms of its telecom development...Imagine,what it would be if there wasnt a war.. But countries like Mozambique,Tanzania,Ghana and others are booming... Yes by all means its a long way to achieve a united Africa that will tackle its povery/disease/economy/civil war issues, but by all means this meeting is a step toward some formation of pathway.I am a pan Africanist, and to me this is wonderful news, even though some will say ,I have my head buried under the sand..but heck one can dream!
  21. ^^Lol,sorry we kinda hijacked your topic there Jacaylbaro..
  22. Lets have some confidence in our selves, shall we? When will we be ready to be united?.I believe we are ready, the economy is booming in many African countries... and the economies would benefit alot from this unity,it will diminish the unfairness of the western markets for our products.. Its time we have one voice, one aim and not to be afraid to take the challenge this will create.I am a great believer in our abilities, lets not fall into the trap set by white colonial powers,a black man is not capable of his own affairs! Black Power!
