^Despite Af Somali been spoken in our home,I had no Somali friends in school nor at the neighbourhood. So my af somali was reserved only for Ayeeyo/Hoyo/Abo and other elder relatives. But when I came to the west,I found myself more involved with Somalis hence my picking up Af somali as I got more involved in the community, which required me to converse in Af Somali..I could say I have rediscover my Somaliness..

What could be nicer then having your best friend as your partner,if you liked this man as a friend, then he must possess qualities you desire in a man,why be his friend if he is the opposite of those you see fit to hang out with. I agree with Nephthys,it's such a delight to have your partner as your best friend, makes life alot more easier.

True Zenobia, they say Ina Abti is sure a sweet thing..lol,Somalis  I speak better then I write,I got much better with my Somali when I came to the west, but prior to that,I spoke a typical sijui Somali..Kijikada,kalamuga..just added da or ga at the end of a swahili word..Lol

Lily, As my Afsomali should serves me correct here,Ina Abti would be your cousins from your Maternal Uncle and Paternal Aunty and ofcouse all those distance relatives from your mothers tribe.. Ina Adeers are your cousins from your Paternal Uncle and all those whom you share the aftiirsimoo..the ancestral lineage from your fathers side...

Isn’t this called robbing Peter to pay Paul scenario. If these Leaders of these nations had attained some success then surely it should be viewed as a collective achievement which means the reward should be for that particular nation not the individual leader. This award has been heavily criticised by many, it’s an insult to Africans. Why need a pat on the head to doing well what you opt to do anyway?
-
Pride is the emotional reward an individual feels after he/she achieves his/her personally chosen values, such as productive work, honesty and integrity. Conversely, ethnicity and race are inborn and therefore outside of one's choices. But I hear you! So I wear no badge that reads "Proud to be Somali".I'm neither proud nor ashamed, instead am proud to be an individualist and a Muslim /Somali etc and believe our nation would be different if we rediscovered this phylosophy.

Qabiiladda Soomaalida: Isir miyaa mise isbaheysi?
Malika replied to Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar's topic in Politics
^^I believe its just a notice about the event and the topic discussed.. Emperor dee maa af somaligii baa kaa badiyee maantaa.. -
^^He could cause further havoc for the TFG in Mogadishu especially after being warmly welcomed amidst his own. Somali Politics is so pathetic wallahi, its so predictable.Just wait and see yaa Duke before rejoicing, its not the end of this dude and his ambitions..just three yrs ago he was a nobody, now after testing the honey of power and its corrupted benefits you think he would go quietly?
-
Their differences was about OIL? Not about policies to bring peace and stability? This means now Geedi would join the insergents [under the banner of qabiil, ofcourse]to fight the TFG till doomsday... Damn Somalis politics..

Xiin I agree with you, as my signature says peace will not come by force only by understanding, so for justice to be served there ought to be peace which will only come when we are thinking rationally at our situation. How will justice be served in a country still at civil war. I too don’t see those in Asmara being the ones that will bring reconciliation to Somalia even after the Ethiopians leave the country. Bilaal how is this group in Asmara planning to bring a balanced peace and stability to the country , when in due time there will be demands for justice and accountability to their contribution to the chaos in Somalia? continue guys its a great debate, laakin no blows below the belts hadhee no need to get too personal here..
-
The tittle is misleading hadhee,Being a proud Somali is about a building,I thought it would be about unity, brotherhood, friendship etc all those nice things one should be proud of rather then a glitz event for the benefit of a few with no significancy to the reality of the situation on ground back home.

Could this be the price of a better life we all came seeking in the west? My question to most parents is do you know what is your child being taught in school,do you know what rights you have and what rights does your child have in this society? Being aware of ones right is very important, you would be amazed at how many parents are ignorant of their rights to challenge school policies or any authority that meddles with their childrens lives. There is a policy in some areas, where a child can abort without the parents knowledged, they just need to see the school matron and she deals with all the arrangements. Markaa we are raising children in a society that has lost most of its responsibility to raising morally, socially responsible human beings. Then its our duties as parents to be more vigilant in our childrens lives. Nephthys I too feel for Somali parents and other parents whom are clueless to what goes on around them and their children.

Originally posted by Faarax-Brawn: Perhaps i will clarify. Somali politics is based on Qabil. This particular conflict between Somaliland & Puntland(Sool/Sanag) is not about qabil. I personally think there is more to this than qabil hebel iyo qabil hebel. Could be Ethiopia(distabilizing entire Somalia),could be Oil & Minerals or just Somaliland reclaiming what is theirs(according to colonial borders). Hope that clarified abti FB how isnt this conflict or any other Somali conflict not about qabiil, are we really capable of any other conflict?.. Ethiopia, its regime is having a field day from our conflicts ,their status in world arena has risen and their ripping its benefits.Zenawi has found his scape goats, the gullible Somalis. Mineral and Oil is a new phenomenal conflict which a few are benefiting from it,the massess are just dragged into wars which will not and will never benefit them.
