^Aaw..Bless! Seeker,I dont use tusbax myself but my sister cant sleep unless she has a tasbihi on her hands..The tradition is linked to India and Buddhism, and not originally Islamic thus not being the sunnah.

^Che,nuune is Michael Palin of SOL.. Yes,dugsi was great for socialising plus eating tamarids with salt,or sweet coloured ubuyu or kashata[spent my childhood nibbling by the looks of it]..We used to walk the longest way to get to dugsi, collecting literature from Embassies along the way..When we get there,we always had an excuse why we were late, thanks to Hoyo and her donations..We never had trouble lying.. ps.Nuune's memory of Kenya is stuck on Ugali and Maharagwe..lol

What was yours like? Was there any significant aspect of your childhood, that you remember clearly? If so,why and what triggers that memory? e.g smell, test, feel, sound, emotion etc etc To be fair,I will start off.. Mangoes! I spent most of my pre-teens either jumping fences to gather mangoes and being chased by dogs or the mad Indian neighbors..Or throwing stones up the mango tree in a attempt to get a mango..Fruit gathering was a pass timer in my childhood..Lol
  8. Dhubad, xiin my friend is a thinking man, markaa uu qalee if he is not just a visual stimulated kind of a man.. As a young girl,I have sang'Gulwado Siyad abihii garashada.....' on the embassy balcony, and it was an occasion we looked forward to..Proud we were! I can't say that of the young ones growing up now.
  9. ^ ,I hope you did note my sacrasism..lol AU,early mornings on the country lanes, there is always a kill of some sort, dont worry hedgehog soups is delicious I hear..lol
  10. ^Amiin. Talking of narrow road,I find myself getting a real buzz overtaking tractors on those narrow country lanes.. This morning I found a fresh knocked down Deer, almost stopped to pick up the meat, then remembered the stigma that will follow my children, and their children's children..I drove away..
  11. That brought back horrible memories, lost a friend and her sister few years back in similar circumstance, they were not lucky enough.
  12. So we do agree 'Language isnt genetic' right?.. ,am assuming Somalis probably think it is.. Norf,so I wasnt alone..heh,it means haraad as in thirst..
  13. ^Drama queen ! or should I say,you have limited knowledge of Somali dialects.. Norf, have you heard of 'Oono'?
  14. Originally posted by Cowke: It is totally irrelevant bringing up ayan hersi because ayan hersi doesn't live in puntland nor can she. Just like salman rushdie can't live in iran. These are respective muslim regions because they back up their words with actions. Can the same be said with hargeisa? 1. Michael mariano successful politician and a christian 2. Edna adan foreign minister and lives in peace with her people 3. Now this guy in jail and countless others in the west who are christian and from hargeisa. If anyone from puntland leaves islam, believe me son they don't go worship jesus, they become atheists. Christianity is simply for the ppl of hargeisa, puntland ppl dont even like that faith. They will follow science if anything other then islam. So don't ever think u will ever hear a christian puntland person, just never will happen. ^How old are you? Your reasoning is very immature, reminds me of preschoolers taunts on the play ground. As for Edna and Michael Mariano, despite of their belief they are respectable 'Somalis' for their contribution to the society they serve/d. In terms of this case,it is a shame that one is prosecuted for ones belief in a so called democratic state. ps.Nassir, waxaan kuu haye a man of reason.

  18. This thread reminds me of my friend's reaction to the death that dude from boyzone..As she is watching the news, his funeral..somehow she gets really emotional,as soon as the commentator mentions his 'male' partner..she,stop the crying and turn off the tv and shouts out...bagaa wuu dineteey..uff,akhas!..Lol
  19. ^Interesting.. This poem expresses,a yearning of 'all mothers' to be accepted, acknowledge, noticed, even thanked but alas! Somalidu wexeey tirada 'ilmaha adaa dalee iyagu kume dalin'[sp]..'You gave birth to the child, the child didn't give birth to you'..How will a child ever understand,her/his mothers yearning for their love, acceptance and furthermore, the pain staking journey of raising them.
  20. I am with Hayam, what happened to lowering one's gaze? This is ridiculous, bisinka!

  23. ^Doesn't a girl grow to be a woman? xiin, maya aboowe,It is the reality of 'our ways' dee, which I think has to change..The era of sitting under a tree for days on end playing Shah, and drinking Shaah pretending to be so important is gone, time for progress, waqti lamaa hayo! 20 sod years and peace/prosperity/development is still illusive..
  24. I am fascinated at how people assume they know you, just because you exchange 'word' on cyber..heh ish! Afternoon folks! CL,tunaenda wapi ku dance?
