  1. Allow na furo! reminds me of an old munkar song was played at meelaha biyo gaduudka lagu waraabo: "I always feel like somebody is watching!
  2. Another masterpiece from Nuur (Saaxib rest assured that your holistic approach is changing the qulub of this soon to be dameer farmer). I have a very hectic schedule these coming days . However, I will, Allah willing be contributing to this thread in the near future. I have read your SWOT analysis. Nortel inc has succeeded in its pull and push strategies to reach to the sophisticated customers who are aided by the transparency that the digital technology offers. Nortel Inc has several challenges which eminate from the Xirtii sheikh Nuur xuseen and the more sophisticated Xir of sheikh sheydhaan and Casri. I remember when I was growing up in garamgaramland the most respected person was Macalinka quraanka. The macalinka (nb this term was used in Mareerland as ilbaxnimo- the true macalin was called reer baadiye) had a special place in the minds of the reer garamgaram. Apart from having the ability to make the hearts of garoob, geesxer, geeshaanti, he had the power of passing on knowledge. In most cases this macalin quraan was also taught by another macalin quran whose understanding of the holly book(the store of Nortel) was limited. In view of this garamgramland became home to kitaab gaabloowyaal. These were people who made the book a nexus of traded dependencies (they found that transalating and intepreting would make them millionaires (an old uncle of mine was for instance reported to have gone deep in the heart of garamgaramland armed with a digri(song) whose lyrics could be: "Sacrifice a fat sheep in our honour if you want to book a place in janah) Give us the flesh of the sheep if you want God to spare you his wrath Make sure no part of the sheep (including the liver, the chest, and legs) remains uncooked because they would bring you poverty Give us the a few more sheep to take with us .. etc Something happened in garamgramland as well as neigbouring Garas, qansax and quraclands. people had the opportunity to integrate with scholars (some of them were gardhuubs- very talented and gifted- but lacked the pedagogical skills i.e communication skills) Since the onslaught of these new jeesh, reerka nabad ma ahayn. Dogma and polarization. You were either with them or against them. Back to the new reality: the internet which I am sure would be the new moowlac for Nurtel is home to the above groups and even worse the qoowmul gaalo. They would do anything to create for themselves competitive strategies to lure customers that are easily convinced........ the old good somali words of Digtoonada JAAleyaalow comes to my mind... Anyway bro, I have to rush but insha allah Nortel would flourish... I would be more than willing to be an apprentice!
  3. Nuurow markale akhi mahadsanid! I would also wait to go to the clinic or a sign a form of consent! Indeed as you mentioned this question carries an ethical, religious as well as a political dimension!
  4. Assalamu calaykum I never knew that this issue would attract the attention of many people..I am learning through your contributions.. thanks people. Nuurow; I understand your above analysis saaxib..Laakin far ayaa ii taagan: Assuming that blood and body tissues could be donated to a muslim- and in some cases to non-muslims in the spirit of islam.. (I know this sounds weird but what about MANI (semen)?
  5. Nuurow thanks for the answer saaxib. The question that sweetgal raised is every important one ... the somalis say nin dhinta kabtiisa ayaa ka roon..... What happens after the death? Is it the soul that is questioned? or the body?
  6. salaama calaykum, Nuurow this member of the garamgaram nation got a phone call from a gaalo friend who happened to be a dakhtar(not a quraafaad one). He was wondering whether I would enrol myself as an organ donor (wadnaha, beerka, dhuuxa, maskaxda, Mino iwm). I asked him to give me a few days to think about the issue. He wondered whether my reluctance had anything to do with my religious belief. I told him could be.... the next day he sent me a copy of the country's largest daily in which the muslim imam, the lutherian church leader and the leading rabbai wrote an article saying "God has blessed the donation of body parts".. The article argued that the three monotheistic religions have nothing against donation. Brother Nuur, as you know even though I am a dhal awliyo, when it comes to metaphysics of religion my knowledge is limited... I would therefore ask you to shed some light on this issue. Would I call my friend and tell him "Enrol this garamgaram?" Should I object with the motivation that "this garamgaram thinks it is xaaram?" Arrintu ma Ilaahaga qab ortaadana raac miyaa mise diintu waay diidey? Mise wadaadka malaha ma waxuu ahaa KITAAB GAALBOOW?

    Dancing Fever?

Sabha; I have decided not to attend any more wedding. The costs (spiritual; financial) are too high. Even the so called wadaad weddings cost too much money that could have been used to help our society back home in africa. I miss the old kind of weddings (The afar faataxo ones)! Lakkad, yes I am from there gurba keen. I really miss speaking the "akam jirte" dialect. Back home we only spoke that dialect...do you speak it?
  8. A wonderfully written essay. sounds very utopic though, I have two simple questions: 1: Who decides what is "mature""rationale" "substance""logic argumentation" "knowledge" etc? 2: Does it mean that those who can't excercise the above guidlines shouldn't participate in discussions?
  9. Nice topic.... Maskin Macruuf...dhimbil, dhiblaawe, ceblaawe are common names in the south. I think they are genuine somali names! Bunoow Libaax sanka ka toogtey (coward)..opposite of libaax sanka ka taabtey (brave). Alamsay qardamsey jalaqsey (allah ha u naxriste) former coach of Togdheer football team. Sheikh cabdi sheelo weyne
  10. Kuriga Boodbode "entrepreneur-- or shall i call u badnoor!lol! naageesko ma maxay!lol.." What is badnoor saaxib? Very similar to my real name! No naageeys saaxib, just kaftan!

    Dancing Fever?

Brother Nuur, garamgramland would be freed from the madaxkoraankor. I visited it two years ago after many years in exile. Eebe galadii I survived the ordeal of lete kpande. But I was detained at the airport because I was carrying some muqmad (oodkac) that my hooyo made from hilib geel. I had to bribe them. Garamgaramland would love to welcome a man of your sharaf... Keep me informed so that I could arrange a dikri-chanting choir- on conveys (cars, donkeys, camels etc). No, I did not find a publisher yet. I was expecting that this piece would be part of my biography (Qaxooti qooqan, qaad aan cunin, qamrigana aan cabin, qoladiisana ka baxay- qamuunye la jiifa) which would be published sometime in the future. kwaheri ndugu...and please keep enlighting us!

    Full Moon

Nuurow, another masterpiece saaxib. two nights ago, there was a travel show on the TV here. Michael Palin- gaal la yiraahdo- A comedian attempted to cross the sahara on foot. He went to Timbuktu in Mali, the home of Maansa Muusa ! He visited the mosque and met with a wadaad who kept records from the 12th century. In one of the archives, to his surprise and the surprise of many gaalos he found mathematical calculations about the solar system; the same formulae as Galileo made 6 centuries later. Apparently muslim scientists were able to come to the same conclusion as the gaalos but earlier... Insha allah, I would be fasting from food, sheeydhaan etc on the 13-15th! Thanks for sharing with us this old scientific finding, which is new to reer gaalaad but old to reer janaad!

    Dancing Fever?

Brother Nuur, the feeling is mutual. Mzuri, dansa! well, From what I gather several progressive garamgarams have been elected to that so called Gaalo-infested-God forsaken barlaamaan. As you know I am a shifta, and have been declared as Persona non-grata in that land. I hope the garamgrams would be spared lete kpande or kitambulisho menance. As a Milaan-dhufte, I have always felt that my Guri is the land of the reer qurac, reer qansac or possibly the reer garas! Now back to topic: yes, the Iblis overcame me, carried me in his arms, I was to say the least intoxicated by his flirting. Soon, I was eying some cambaros in the hope that I would engage in xod-xodoshado. As a dhalad dhal awliyo, I was in the initial phases engaged in a battle of the heart of the brain and heart. The maskax was saying; Joog... Hellfire, ciqaab....the heart was saying Go mzee, show yourself to the cambaros.... I remember in particular the verse..no, not, the verse from the devine quran but the lyrics of the song; Gabadhaan jeclaaye miyaad i gergaari..gabal dhac iyo waaberi, guriga aad ku nooshohay salaanteeyda geeya.... sida aar gantaal qaba ...It dawned on me that I was the lion! I was the property of sheydhan: suddenly all I could see were people dancing- lugaha, gacmaha... I could hear my brain singing s´lowly; MA ANIGOO SHEEKH I DHALAY haddana sheeydhaan i maray! 3 a.m , annoucement, we are closing in about 10 minutes said someone...instead of aacuududu bileeysi...I said what??? what? The sheydhaan was possesing me by now.. The next day, a long trek to Toronto; well, actually not Toronto but the baadiyaha toronto (like xamar daye, gubaadley),...where the reer koraadka lived. Weston and lawrence, Jane and finch, and the somali xaafad (dixon); meeshu magac weynaa oo qaab daranaa! To my surprise Taranto- provided a mixture of the guud and bad...the dhal awliyo and dhal sheeydhaan...many fatuuro (including the dameerka dixon vans), many small micro business that imitated each other in terms of geography and sales idea...many somali restaurants, many soo dhaciyeey people, many Buunges (doofareey; where you could hear words such as Najis, Iblis, doofaar) being used to describe good people. Three areas were outstanding; the mosque that was in close proximity to the afgani restaurant, the pride of somalis - Khalid bin walid and the IMO (aay aamo). The wedding which I attended was held at the IMO. The actual day, I woke up with the remnants of sheydhaan.... I was hoping that I could shake my lugo baasto, mijo warqad... I even bought a shirt, another suit and a girivati that did not need tying. Called the groom: Gormaa waa arooska? Bacda salaada duhurka he answered,,,, inaa lilahi what??? aroos waqtigaan la dhigaayo muxuu ahaa? Maad habeen ka dhigtid I asked? I was hoping that I would be again seduced by sheydhaan. MAYA; MAYA, aroosku waa aroos islaan ah... anyway, lunch time bacdaha duhur; lots of somalis; most of them men and a few women who were in the kitchen.... I had the opportunity of acting as the marshall- manxiis; he was a shy guy, a wadaad xishood badan... sat beside a young sheikh and the ceremony was started... I was expecting some music; NADA He started by saying "waxaan iskugu yimid meeshaan (he could have used the meehaan variant)and then conducted the whole ceremony in somalia...as my cousins from the reer Mareer say "CIMRIGAAGA raagey geel dhala aas ku tusaa", It was the only wedding ceremony that I attended which did not use arabic or english words...everything was conducted in somali! to be continued......... p.s saaxib, gabadhii aan ku siinay maad xalaalteeysani? yuusan xaal ku qabanin- sabeen xer kama baxdide!
  14. African: Shrewd contriver, emancipated maskax; makes bood-boode look like maskiin

    Dancing Fever?

I don't know what to call my visit to north america this summer. It is something between vacation and qaraabo salaam. Ohio sometime in July. My cousin from garamgaramland was marrying a maxaa tiri woman who he met in the carliga gaalada. Both of them were from dhal awliyo as aniga. The wedding reception was to be held in a maqaayad- not much similar to CAGAARAN near marka cadeey minin awcismaan- but obviously too much lacag cagaaran. Three hours to go to the wedding; my inadeer disappeared with his friends. I was left wondering what kind of garmet to wear. Too many questions; Tie a tie that I don't know how to tie? Wear an expensive suit in the hot summer? Wear a macawis with koofi baraawo? wear jeans and T-shirt on my pigeon chest? Suaalaha waay badanaayeen! Waqtigii wuu soo dhowaaday. Finalmento- uno fratello ayaa yimid xaafada- Why aren't you ready Kuriyow , he asked? I am wondering what to wear I retorted... Haven't you got a suit? maxaa kugu dhacay Dhiktoore? I have a suit, a tie that has been tied by someone before I left scandnavia, a blue shirt etc..but I don't really know if I would wear them. Why????? she asked? Reer magaalnimadii meedey dhiktoore, he said. Brother, let me tell you something- I have been doing some thinking; Horta maxaan gaalada ugu deynayaa? Why can't we wear laba(lama) go' oo cad as our ancestors; or macawiis , go shaal ah iyo koofi barwaawe- sing mowliid on the way to the reception? Dhiktoore, waxaad ku hadleeysid waa maxay? Hana ceebeynin! IF yU WIYAR MAAWIS, people would think inaad GEEY tahay!. Anyway, yaanan sheekada idinku badanine; I wore a piece of suit, a giribaati(tie) in the hot summer ohio evening. I had the luxary though of an AC in the car. Markii aan soo galay qolkii ; every somali man was wearing an expensive suit- some with matching ties, others si xun ayuu ugu xirnaa! The women -kuwaasi haba sheegin.... many of them waay xijaabaanaayeen markaay meesha yimaadeen. Once, they came in the building; dirac laga arkaayo cando saabkooda (bakhtinooleys; keeshili); cambuur aad moodo in laga xirto aduun kale. Musik cajiib ah oo qaboobne waa socoday..... laakin dheg uma aanan taagin! we waited, waited--- around midnight ayaa waxaa la yiri arooskii baa yimid! I went outside, fatuuro dheer---- LAYMOSIN... 6 people who looked like aliens ascended from it. Saddex wiil iyo saddex gabdhood: Uniform.... sacabka, sacabka...soo dhowaada etc..... the bride, maid.... it was as if I were attending a hollywood movie.... Typical gaalo wedding... After the introduction, which ironically was preceded by suurad quraan ah; waxaa la bilaabay ciyaartii .... As a man from garamgaram land, my ears were used to Saar lugeed, walan saqo, dhaanto...I have even seen some few Niikos...laakin waxbaan arkay.. Musikada; waaw, waaw yo-yo---- snoop doggy -dog- gabdho cajiib ah oo mararka qaar mtv laga soo saaro... not my kind of Motown music that i listened to as a teenager- neither was it disco which as a kid I used to dance to! meesha waxaa qabsadaa yoyo. I did not care..laakin after an hour waxaa lagu tuuray cajalad somali ah; ´Xasanoow eedin samatar ( Haadba haad kaci, qarad9, Cigaal ,shooli, etc... Tried to mind my own business of chatting with friends, telling them about europe...laakin markii aan maqlay hees aan aad u jeclaaa; waan is celin waayey... suddenly, the son of dhal awliyo was turned into sheydhaan... is ruuxay, dhidid... extance...... when the bride and groom left I was still dancing...... the next day, I was to leave for Toronto for yet another qaraabo salaan.--- and another wedding..... this wedding was quite different though... it was held IMO (international muslim organisation).. wadaad wedding.......... to be continued
  16. Please dont talk about the religion if you have no knowledge of what you are stating. If people had equal knowledge about the complex world, or religion, questions could never be raised. Why can't we talk about religion? Isn't the whole idea of talking (questionin) to gain knowledge?
  17. The article sounds fishy. Who wrote it? sounds like a feminist manifesto! quote " Older Muslim women who are past the prospect of marriage are not required to wear "the outer garment". "Such elderly women as are past the prospect of marriage, there is no blame on them if they lay aside their (outer) garments, provided they make not wanton display of their beauty; but it is best for them to be modest; and Allah is One Who sees and knows all things". (24:60). Is this reference to the quran? Hadith, article?
  18. Does smoking cause cancer? Although it is politically correct and socially accepted that smoking causes cancer and coronary diseases, scientists have ONLY found a relationship between smoking and the prospensity to suffer from cancer. There is a difference between CAUSE and RELATIONSHIP! My point is that the culuma should be careful when expressing a religious view. Some issues are not as clear as they appear to be.
  19. Naive, statistical data, blame, innocent etc Naive; Was it because I said the dude was not a somalia? Underdog; I don't get your point saaxib! statistical data: very unreliable and inflated when it comes to the third world. (note; according to the latest WHO report somalia is one the countries in the world that has the least cases of HIV/AIDS) But a disease has no creed or colour! Blame; Yes, a message to somali women and men who do not excercise precautions. People in africa do not have access to information about this deadly disease- but somalis in the diaspora have been exposed to info bruse! Innocent; Third party liabilities (children, blood transfusion victims, unssuspecting women and men who were infected by a bearer of aids are indeed innocent- and should be accorded sympathy. But, read the story and you would find that this "******* " was informed was informed about the disease; he decided to befriend a somali woman (people should consider who they date- somalis are generally not infected compared to other nationalities). As they say in somali "caano haka maasho"!
  20. Nuune as the saying goes; Luuq-luuq maroow laasim laami aa ka dambeeya! This dude and his concubines have surely infected many others! I agree people need to learn a lesson!
  21. Dica?? Vastecomy? Afraid to become pregnat? This does not sound somali! and then there is the woman- she is probably a somali who was a seduced by a non-somali..but this is a tragic story. Nearly 5 years ago, a man who claimed to be a somali was on sweden's most wanted programme. He(hashim) was accused of infecting nearly 20 women (some of them somalis). On the program they showed the picture of this culprit. He was the first non-convicted person to be shown on swedish TV. He was an arab from yemen who acquired somali citizenship.... This DICA guy could be another non somali!
  22. Barinomad saaxib this is a good news! In sweden three somalis have been accused for the same offence. Their assets were frozen without due course as stipulated by swedish laws. Two of the guys have been removed from the list after they agreed to provide the US embassy with fingerprints and taken an "oath". The third dude has refused and wants his case heard by the european court of justice. He refused to sign any agreement because he is afraid this might be prejuidice his case against the swedish government. His case would be heard next week in belgium and according to reports he is going to win. The case is not about the issue of guilt but the technicalities and how far a european state can go to deprive her citizens the right to judicial hearing. According to the swedish law, a citizen's assets can not be frozen by a government but by courts- which obviously was the case. Marka saaxib faataxada soo mara
  23. LOL@@@@@@jinoole aw jacburis jananka jiiska ah jiilkiisa. maskin macruuf akhyaar, duqa, have you got the copyrights to the pictures? Could anyone use them say in a book or information material without risking to be sued? BTW; wonderful pictures; where exactly in somalia were they taken?
  24. Lakadow your tahliil and my afar faataxo did not work this time.
