If it's the latter then i want good Rooble to tell us what it is. If it's the first then, well, i want Rooble to say so as well. Then we can have a debate if being colonized by a particular breed of white Europeans gives one more rights than others. Understanding the fundamentals of nationhood is in order here. In all fairness, that really doesnt fit well in this argument, Because,Bay didnt get independence & went into a union with Somalia. The thing is,If the people of JSL,who mind you decided to join their brothers in the 60s,decide to secede, then who really has the mandate to tell them NO? Elysian,i understand where you coming from, but you cant just walk away from a partnership, there has to be a dialogue(and some understanding) right?

Originally posted by xiinfaniin: Rooble , You are still dodging to address the difficulty I posed to you. What is the compelling rationale for Somaliland’s need to separate? The differences you cited do not really warrant for that region to secede. Further more, all of the distinctions you made are political strides in nature, and in fact it’s a matter of time before Puntlanders boast on achieving it. Thusly, and as you can see, that’s hardly a ‘huge difference’ as you put it. But Xiin,if the People of the former British Somaliland want to seccede, who should stop them? I beleive though, when you are in a joint union with another entity, you should discuss it with that particular party. So,until Somalia is a state,i dont see JSL going Solo(recognition)

I think one should never underestimate the power of our Muslim clergy. Especially since i expect this message to be relayed (directly or indirectly) by every Somali sheikh within the country and in the Diaspora I think the keyword should be "Every self respecting" sheekh. The major problem has been those sheikhs who have been silent. This is a clear message to those & their disciples. Paragon, I have a feeling this is a clear message to pick up arms & fight. And from what i heard today,it looks like war is imminent. The anti islamic TFG will have to come up with something now, what will it be this time? Is Sh Faruuq in the list? I dont see him -

^Salaam aleykum Dear sister. Kenya is just proving to be the poor and corrupted African country that it is, with no respect for international laws nor human rights. Not that shocking of a news in that part of the world really. This is actually quite shocking & new to many Kenyans,Kenyans are Known for their independence, peace loving & respect for Intl'Law,they just cant understand why their Beloved Kenya got sucked into this web. They were used to Moi telling off the Wazungus(whiteman)day in day out. This is new to them. This current regime in Kenya is the complete opposite of that former Moi regime. They do not care for the sovereignty & the independence that Kenya boasted off for so many years. All they care for is $$$, and that they did get. They got paid handsomely for participating in this "War on Terrorism”. But do not worry, this greedy Admin in Kenya is not coming back Inshallah, come this General Election. One thing many Kenyans now realized is how The former President, Arap Moi was fiercely independent of any foreign meddling, especially the USA. This sort of things will never have happened, In fact he has refused many of their demands in the past, and that put him in a lot of troubles. The Western donors & his Government were @ loggerheads for the last 10years of his rule. They cut funding, labeled him a ruthless dictator hell bent on supressing democracy & many other names. Funny thing is, his neighbors to the North (Ethiopia) & the West (Uganda), both with US support, were dictatorial regimes that had no respect for democracy (infact, Museveni refused elections),With a corruption record longer than Haille Gabresallesie’s cross-country records, but they none the less got funding from Big Brother. I hope and wish for the swift release of your beloved family member soon. It’s just sad to see that Somalis have just been reduced to mere spectators in this whole thing. But, alxamdulilah the Muslims in Kenya are pressuring the Kenya govt into pulling out of this, and we are seeing signs of some improvement after threats of boycotts & riots.

“That which ye lay out for increase through the property of (other) people, will have no increase with Allah: But that which ye lay out for charity, seeking the countenance of Allah (will increase): it is these who will get a recompense multiplied”. (30:39) “That they took riba (usury), through they were forbidden and that they devoured men’s substance wrongfully – We have prepared for those among men who reject faith a grievous punishment.” (4:161) “O ye who believe! Devour not usury doubled and multiplied; but fear Allah, that ye may (really) prosper.” (3:140 “Those who devour usury will not stand except as stands one whom the evil one by his touch hath driven to madness. That is because they say: ‘Trade is like usury.’ But Allah hath permitted trade and forbidden usury. Those who after receiving direction from their Lord, desist, shall be pardoned for the past; their case is for Allah (to judge). But those who repeat (the offence) are companions of the fire, they will abide therein (forever)” (2:275) “O you who have attained faith! Remain conscious of God, and give up all outstanding gains from Usury, if you are (truly) believers” (2: 278) ^^ Thought i would pull a Khayrie May Allah forgive our sins

Originally posted by xiinfaniin: ^^Faarax, Saudi Arabia could play a constructive role in our conflict. It has shown interest in it and has the capacity to bring both sides to a negotiating table. Even the Saudi King brought the issue of Somalia to the meeting he had with Ms. Pelosi. If Djibouti seduces further the King to mediate between us, it is all for the good I say. As for some countries not being neutral in this conflict, to be honest I don’t care if they are neutral or not I just would like them to be a bit wise and realistic about it. Xiin,In reality that is the desired outcome. Wa laakin,The US of A has labelled the IUC leadership as "terrorists" & an extremist Taliban like regime that is spreading radical Islam. They have spent Millions of Dollars fighting this group, Now,here is the problem, the Bush admin has made it clear that they will never negotiate with terrorists. Do you really see a free and fair outcome out of this? I dont see a US endorsed reconciliation meeting with the IUC leadership, not at least in public. The only way forward is for the USA makes a dramatic shift in attitude and to denounce their earlier position on the war,the TFG & this whole terrorist process. The other option is to have a cosmetic reconciliation meeting that favors their position.
