  1. SB is nothing like Ayan Hirsi.. he is just a rebel without a cause and a clue... 99% of the time. Real funny the rest 1%.

  3. Those A$$' look like they have a life of their own.
  4. Ya'all look so bored... well...same here. So here is something I just read. A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university lecturer. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the lecturer went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups: porcelain, plastic, glass, some plain-looking and some expensive and exquisite, telling them to help themselves to hot coffee. When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the lecturer said "If you noticed, all the nice-looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the better cups and are eyeing each other's cups. Now, if Life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it." So don't let the cups drive you ... enjoy the coffee instead.
  5. ^ Saqajaansana inanku. I went to my friends graduation on thursday, and wearing a dress is out of the question for me...its too uncomfortable, the dress and heels. 9. Exams. Literally. Specially few hours before the exam, looking at the notes induces vomit, I kid you not...
  10. Savagery and Somalis... two sides of the same coin.
  11. LOL@Dhoqonta khariban. Bal goormaad ibaratay? Go seek attention elsewhere, you're ruining a good topic.

  13. ^I know what you mean... I find myself more and more attracted to geeks these days..specially geeks with alot of life experience and stories to tell. I've always thought I was into the innocent, not-done-much wooers... but (I think) I'm not.
  14. Hi Naden, You might find this (Chapter 4 if you want to cut to the chase) interesting and helpful in your quest for answers.
  15. I liked this issue. It didnt seem so somali-canada-youth-centric and reached out to a wider audience than before. Thumps up AF and the whole gang.
  16. Khayr, I’m more than happy to ‘come out’ and show that I utilize my brain and accept that which appeals to my commonsense. And I don’t need to parrot the words of men who make zero sense. Now, unless you can prove me wrong and show there is a correlation between gender and intellect/reasoning, without resorting to this ‘sheikh reasoned so’… don’t bother addressing me, I’ve low tolerance for sexism mangled with bull. Why do you as a women need to aspire to be a member of parliament or any women for that matter? Do you specialize in silly questions? Only you can ask such a dim-witted Q with a straight face Khayr, and for that, I will attempt to answer it concisely (Altho I trust Naden will do a better job and has more patience for obtuse questions). Quite simply and basically – because it affects them. Their lives - their everyday lives. Women, as much as men, are part of society and have a say (or should where they don’t) in how its run.
  17. Boys, we don’t need a scholar for this kinda question, I, Amelia Papazafiropoulos will answer and tell you that intellectual superiority or inferiority/reasoning is a case-by-case issue. Totally unrelated to sex, age, race, religion... its an individual thing. Honest. No sheikh told me that (infact, I reckon I deduced it from reading one of those istubidh kaafir scientific books) and its absolutely foolproof. Thanks.

And a nation of useless men is a loser nation so maaha? So in that sense, it won't prosper. Sweety, I hate to penetrate your resolve in this new-found-logic for the subject but your Imam said the same thing as Suleyman’s article. What your sheikh said in essence is this – a woman cannot hold the position of a leader unless all the men are useless. Why must the intelligence and capabilities of men be questioned or undermined for a woman to hold an office job? Can a woman not be a leader without the men being useless? Can she not do a better job than a lot of men? He is implying the same thing Scarlet and you shouldn’t take comfort in it if you disagree with Suleyman’s piece. Potatoes, potatoes.
  19. Oh my good GOD! Will someone please do the decent thing and introduce these new Xalimos and Faarax’s to the etiquettes of decent and sanitized foruming? They are assaulting my sensibilities with all this talk of temporary marriages and navigating through a seal (pun fully intended lol).
  20. Loo00ooL @ U 2. A case of projecting your own realities on moi? The missing 's' would be sight-seeing. I insist.
  21. Suleyman, This ruling is supported by the reason given in the verse itself, which is men’s intellectual superiority and better understanding etc, which are basic qualifications for leadership. Rationally speaking, women should not be given positions of public office, because what is required of the one who is chosen for such a position is that he should a man of great resolve, determination, smartness, will power and good management skills . These characteristics are lacking in women because they have been created with weakness in their intellect and thinking , and with strong emotions, so electing them to such positions is not in the interests of the Muslims and does not help them to achieve greatness. As you can tell, I’m really no match for your intellectual competence (not created for purpose, you see). So, I take a bow and exit, sir. *leaves murmuring something about caqli xumo iyo niman* Edit, Originally posted by Nur: Now, That is a society, and the one you live in is another, they are like a cat and a dog. 23. ^ oi... I is glad to see you back as well. There has been no serious entertainment for weeks (Altho ur holiday destination sounds more scary than funny!). Summer holiday - Am hitting Africa and then Asia respectively. Should be cool.. since its minus the family - wohoo! Sun, sand, sea and surf (actually diving, but dont wanna ruin the rhythm)... here I come!
  24. ^ Discussing the background and history of the companions is 'off limit' miyaa? Okkky Zu!!! The point of this debate, anyway, was the ruling. And G'nite.
  25. ^ Xiin, no lie has been said about the companion... so the claim of character assassination is half-baked. Facts remain facts unless u can prove them otherwise! Whether you want to overlook it, doubt it, question it or what not is a choice anyone can make. Originally posted by xiinfaniin: War yaa kaloo raba inuu na xukumo ? Everything about Somalia is reminiscent of pre-Islamic Arabia… warring tribal factions, tribalism, myths, lots of personal agenda and no common goal. At this stage, you should be grateful to anyone to pull us from the dark ages (specially a woman, cuz clearly the men are 'doomed to fail'). Islam saved them... I hope it saves us too - minus the patriarchy disguised as law, of course .
