  1. ^ I know you're romantic. You write love poems.
  2. BOB, kala saar Love, Devotion iyo Romance. What you described is Love and Devotion which are the cornerstone of marriage. Laakin Romance is a great thing too - its the small gestures designed to bring a smile to your partner's face - the unexpected surprises - holidays, presents, diners, celebrations etc. It doesnt mean your marriage is any less legitimate or even happy if you cant afford them or dont think of them as unnecessary, laakin dont mock it as a western concept. I happen to think its Romance that makes a marriage exciting..
  3. Eid Mubarak... Happy New Islamic Year.. and the other new year too! Waxaan idiinku duceynayaa idinkoo dhan caafimaad iyo cimri dheer.
  4. I dont do cards, I wish people Happy or Merry whatever. However, I do love going to the office Xmas party. Its always a ball.. and this year is promising to be alot of fun. It would be so rude if I made my boss pay £75 on my behalf and didnt partake in the mystery adventures, 4 course dinner and disco Stop being so anti-social NG! Go and enjoy time with ur old grumpy colleagues and ur suicidal friend
  5. Sharkarme, Ilaahay ha kuu sahlo all your future endeavour's bro.

Also, if it helps, the biggest three mobile operators in Somalia are called Telcom Somalia, NationLink and Hormuud. These three companies collaborated to form the biggest ISP in Somalia called 'Global Internet' or something that sounds very similar. You can go to each of their (poorly designed ) website to see their services and offerings. Hope that helps.
  7. Ghamina, I think there comes a time when one has to evaluate their life and what they hope to get out of it. Unfortunately for some of us in the west, that path in life doesn't include spending humongous amount of time and energy in a country, where the daily reality doesn't effect us in the least, especially when one has to live their own life and have their own personal/family ambitions to fulfill, and the people who live there do not wish to be their own vanguards. In most of the examples you cited, the people who the status quo effected directly became pioneers for change. Its less motivating to do something for our people more than the monthly allowance we send back, simply because Somalis in the west have their own reality of life in the west to deal with. What can one really do externally for people who don't buy humanity or reason? And whose greatest strength is reserved for bringing down all thats progressive? Come on! You know this is an inherent Somali quality. Where Somalia is concerned, there is little Somalis in the west can do, unless they are willing to move lock stock and barrel and become part of reality on the ground. I've yet to see many volunteers on that front. But it seems a lot of people sleep better by convincing themselves they are ready to do something.

Lessons to learn: Others' ideas might be just as good or better and to stay open minded.

Take that Serenity aka I-wanna-be-American. Says the woman who proudly flaunts her American passport and consistently reminds us of all the 'freedom' her adopted country has given her and how she has no intention of leaving there. Hypocrisy or what?! p.s. Dameer? *ME*?! p.s.s. I do know how to sing the Somali national anthem Legend, you cant revoke my citizenship. I may not want to be Somali, but I am...
  10. I would choose American over Somali anyday.
  11. Wanting to be Somali, can you aim any lower Cadaan?
  12. It was time for deserts and I was have hoping that Serenity would jump into my plate. Of course it was a small space and her arms and feet would stick out a little but it would have been a lip-smacking desert nonetheless. Oh NGONGE, I hope to not walk into your dreams again. I feel utterly made fun of! Just so you know, I was afraid the whole night that the food would slip through your big fanax(and not faantax, you lamer!) and you would choke on it.. infact, I now hope you had!
  13. Legend, I dont need to bribe anyone. So, what do you appreciate about me?
  14. ^Open it!!! A suicidal maniac doesnt know what she's doing. Find out and help p.s. Finish the story please
  15. Oh Nephthys, you're just jealous because you cant be her. And your hubby isnt as smiley and happy as hers
  16. Originally posted by Valenteenah: Serenity ...no worries. I like being your friend too. (Bet you thought I forgot you, ey? ey? Abadan!) You did forgot and to top it off, this is crap! Where is my appreciation?
  17. Originally posted by sheherazade: I'd like to know why I'm the only one who has a character and an assassinated one at that in your dream? I was actually very annoyed to read this post at first. Now several hours later I am irritated. I guess the danger of meeting people is that posts like this cease to become impersonal. Thoroughly unamused. Dont feel so bad, he called me short in every possible way. I feel like a midget in this sheeko! . The only one who got away is Val, but I suspect its coming... it must be! I intend to get my own back when he is done... do the same LoL@CG who cant see past the Adonis.

And yes, I'm slightly embarrassed about all the attention NG has given me in the story. But really, wherever I go, I'm always the central figure. Its just natural . But the real truth is, NG is compensating for some major cay and poking fun at my expense.
  19. Oh God! Do I have to deal with this grown-woman-stuck-with-a-child’s-mind every other day? Will some sane person please intervene and tell her to lay it off? Layzie, NG has permission to write about the others and me and this is funny, not retarded like your buddy’s whose segments are insulting and portray people as impotent married men or retarded children (re-read ‘my’ segment and honestly tell me that’s not what the intention was). Furthermore, that tacky ‘show’ has been running for ages and I’ve not had an issue with it as long as he was making fun of his own friends who understood his sense of humour and not using it as a tool to take pot shots at people who do not appreciate that BS. So please, for the millionth time, close the subject and go away with your !diotic assertions. And the fact that you would consider NG’s polite (a little poking at times, but in good fun ) posts ‘wet dreams’ and embrace your buddy’s vulgar, sleazy and disgustingly slimy stuff, speaks volumes about the kind of person you are and quality of people you surround yourself with. So really my dear, to each their own… go and play with ur friend and don’t sully this place with that whiny rubbish.
  20. Ghamina, Its a very funny dream, thats all Just as we were all tucking into our starters, a bumbling Adonis of a man staggered in. This was yet another character from SOL! He was tall (ish), he was handsome and he was extremely clumsy. It was not that he was overweight or excessively lanky but, still, there was something amiss about his coordination. Though the limbs were in proportion, they still were all over the place. At that point, I wanted to ask Nino the healer to diagnose the problem but he was busy arguing with the forgotten girl about some spiritual matters. Oh my GOD! I might have to join the kix kix qax qax gang at this rate. Cannot wait for the dream to finish. p.s. You simply have to give the 'forgotten girl' her due NG! It just wouldnt be fair.

Serenity on the other hand, was dying to sit next to me but that evil woman in the form of my old neighbour sat between us like a wretched mother-in-law in a doomed Asian wedding......... I noted that the girls were saying unpleasant things about him with their tongues whilst their eyes were magically dancing.
  22. Oh my GOD!!! OH MY GOD! @ whats been written. Finish the story please. Then I'll give people the real(my version) account of the evening

Bob, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. If there is one thing I know about you, its how proud you were of him. Ilaahay ha u naxariisto. Aamin.
