  1. Khayr, your example is shyte. Its based on the premise that the story is hearsay to begin with. Now, the story was reported numerous times online and on newspapers, so I've taken it to be as true as news usually is (remember, even news is biased, so you always have to take everything with a pinch of salt). If you think its hearsay, the onus is on you to prove it is so, and only then do you accuse me of pandering to hearsay. Now get to work, I'm sure you'll have fun reading the varieties of the story in af soomaali

Dont really know what to say without sounding so insulting. There was also another story concerning Somalis in the Metro this morning. Three Somali youth have been charged with the murder of another Somali youth - get this, because they had a row over whether muslims should drink alcohol. *sigh* Dadkeena. The Metro is your Gospel? You people are gullible to the sensationalism of the media. Now why would an english paper give a damn two pennies about a "stoning" in somalia. Unless ofcourse, it serves their purpose - Sensationalism via Villifying muslims. When the wadaads clean up the streets, is that a worthy article? When the wadaads give back properties to their owners, is that in the english papers? when the wadaads open up schools, is that in the english man's papers? You are all gullible individuals. The same people who cheer on Obama just because the papers Cheer him on and ignore his foreign stance i.e. allegiance to Isreal and continuation of American foreign policy Khayr, there is a word/phrase for your style of debate (cant remember!) – where one associates a small, localised and unrelated events to bigger and more legitimate causes, thus making the small event, bigger than it is. Its like when someone complaints about not being granted prayer facilities in their office (small, localised and unrelated event), and then equates it to Muslims being oppressed in Palestine and Bosnia, etc etc. It’s a tactic often used by hardline debators to garner support for their causes. Now kindly stick to the subject at hand and put it in context. Was it horrible? Yes. Was it justified? No. Is media selective in their reporting? = Yes. But that’s another subject it doesn’t take away from the heinousness of this miscarriage of justice under the Islamic banner.

  4. Ilaahay ha u naxariisto aabahaa bro. Aamin.
  5. Obama will win the next election, hands down. It would not be a miracle if he lost, it would be outright theft and underhandedness. And I very much doubt anyone wants to risk going down that route in this time of economic crisis. I’m surprised some of you even hold the view that he might loose… not sure what your sources of information are… because everything I read (and even the sub-text), says he is the next US president.
  6. What is wrong with having a simple phone that sends and receives calls, sends and receives texts, has a clock and calender? huh? All these unnecessary fancy 'features' really annoy me on a phone. Its actually difficult to find a simple phone these days...
  7. You know JB, its a bit shocking to see your nick on a topic title. Many thanks for the well wishes all. I'm now well beyond the years of celebrating all this - not!
  8. After discussing all those exciting options and away weekends, and adventure trips in the country, you lot come up with go-karting in streatham? Very creative
  9. No matter what anyone says, a handsome perfumed man is an unnecessary distraction.
  10. Ibtisam, I can help you sort out the food. I just spoke to a friend of mine who owns this company http://www.tastebydesign.co.uk/somalimenu.html Call me to hear the details of price & transport cost (they are based in leeds) if you're interested.
  11. Hi Ibtisam, I attended a fundraising event for ICRA yesterday (as you're aware, you were there too!), so it wouldnt make sense for me to do it again in the span of one month.
  12. Self-defence kulaha. You're teaching your kid to be equally violent and resolve matters that way, and thats just as bad as the boy who is bullying her.
  13. I'm so unbelievably exhausted. I worked both days on the weekend (from home). This morning I was halfway through my journey to work when I realized I forgot the laptop at home.. So back home and working from home today. Which is a small consolation for all the trouble?
  14. Marakesh? I know you're been there already Sheh, but I havent and its cheap and warm. Definitely off the island if the flight isnt longer then 3-4hrs. Budget? What budget? I dont travel on budget my dear
  15. Checked that and auto-trader . No luck.

  17. Cara, I dont know who you're talking about but I'm an adventure seeking adrenaline junkie . BMF organize tailor-made away weekends for ppl seeking adventure, so sheh you should look into them if you want to organize an awesome adventurous weekend. What I'm trying to say is - organize an exciting away weekend with BMF and count me in! For the one day activities suggested, I wont do horse-riding, Paris (been there) or paintballing (done that), but the rest seem good to go! p.s. BMF are organizing a ski trip in feb. I've never been skiing and would love to try that. [ October 16, 2008, 04:32 AM: Message edited by: sheherazade ]
  18. Thats why you should all bank with HSBC . One of the reasons the banks seem to be going under even faster is that people are taking their money out and switching banks, thanks to the media frenzy, which is only making things alot worse. For those of you with huge savings, not one of my worries , but the government only guarantees 50 thousand.
  19. A&T & NG Vs Xiin. Nice. Keep at it boys, I never liked the it when you were all bosom buddies anyway.
  20. ^Whats Val about but triviality?
  21. Everyone is going to Dubai these days. Sheh, here is a piece of advice, don't insult/mess with the airport staff - even if they accuse you of having a fake UK passport, when it clearly isn't. My sister's friends got questioned and accused and they ended up calling an immigration officer an 'axmaq' and as a result ended up detained. Then an uncle bailed them out. When they were returning, they detained them at the airport again, and this time they said there was a court case against them and they couldnt leave the country. So they ended up waiting a whole month to get a court date and then got fined 3grand!!
  22. I'm totally taken by the flowery language and references . Good piece A&T. Other than that, Xiin’s stance on political issues is usually neutral, and hopeful and I see nothing wrong with that. The tyrannical-seeking-power my way or the highway has never worked and will never.
  23. I just thought as the starter of this topic, I should leave something on this page. Otherwise, its been a slow and painful day.
