  3. You should have each other tested if at all in doubt but ama make sure I know the guy and have no doubts absolutely before decidin to marry him... hence hopefully I wont have to ask him to get checked..

  5. Yes Opinionated.. that would be a very practical and a good solution to this kinda dilemma.
  6. I dont blv the girl is lying entirely and sure as hell, she got it bad from the father but there are far better solutions to such a problem than foster care.
  7. Violence is never the answer Soomaaliyeey. The last thing we want to do is start another sequence of ruthless killings and be branded outlaws without a territory.
  8. I really dont beleive the girl.If a father abuses his kids on a regular basis, chances are the mother is gonna kick him out...its extremely rare that both parents sanction abuse of their kids mutually. He was just disciplining her the only way he knew how and I'm almost sure that if she adhered to the rules and regulations of the family, she would have been forgiven. She just wanted a way out so she could be "free"... we'll see how far that gets her..Also.. I'm guessing she is far older than her 'western' age.
  9. I dont really know any Somali father who is capable of supporting his kids and doesnt. Back at home, they paid everything without a second thought. Its just that most of them have come to the west leaving their life and everything they worked for all their lives behind and have to start from scratch. Chances of finding a job for most is tedious and would involve swallowing their pride and settling for less - if at all they get 1. After which their children would end up being completely dependent on them and hence starting another succession of poverty, worries and unstability as he cant make enought to support them well. Eventually they give up... let the govt do their duty and end up neglecting their kids and chewing to drown their guilt. Its a vicious circle where the choice they make is between the devil and the deep sea. However, they could offer alot more emotional support. Life is just not as easy .. and I think somali youth should stop being distracted by petty things and realize we came here at the sacrifice of our parents and our sole purpose is to get educated and go back home to rebuild the country.
  10. I've alot of respect for the man who wrote this. A very informative and thought provoking read. <-- Somalia Come on EveryOne - Thanks Entrepreneur!
  11. For all those concerned - I've passed..YES..ALL 5 modules! *Looks 4 SMTH_Lady*
  12. The Principal of my school. A man of many talents and by far the most encouraging teacher. He beleived in me and appointed me the head girl despite being the only somali in the school. I had an influential history teacher. He used to question everything. Always made me think about things...only downfall was he was an athiest and would constantly put doubts into my head...but if it werent for these, I would probably not try and know as much about our beautiful religion.
  13. Silent Sista - Walaalo I think you're being a bit harsh and judgemental yourself. Considering all the similarities you've with them, they are closest to you whether you like it or not. You dont ignore and push away if you have a troubled bro/sis/parent. Instead you let out a helping hand without expecting anything in return. There is a reason why you're somali - think about it. From what I know - despite all their short comings, somalis are the only poeple who will you give you a helping hand when u need it the most. I think our real "jaceyl" comes thru when you need it the most. Please, ignore the petty things like jealousy and gossip - its a needle in a haysack.
  14. ^ From what I know..Somalis usually marry within their own qabiil but not their direct cousins(normally). We live in extended families and our cousins grow up with us like brothers..cant even think of marrying them.

  16. This is a real tragedy. I think the somali community in MN should stand up and face up to these unprovoked murders. *wonders when somaliz will show some courage and unity* Allaha u naxariisto marxuumka.
