  1. Its called staying focussed on the AGENDA. And you wouldnt dare vote against me!
  2. I c Raami has taken the opportunity to rant ! Admin, my topic should not get reprimanded for the complaining thats about to follow. The people have spoken Indeed
  3. So Mutakalim, YOU ARE THE WISE-GUY eh? Figures! Unfortunate for the rest of us, your modest justification doesn’t hold much water. It’s ludicrous to say the topics don’t have a focal point or are “ambiguous†or “nebulousâ€. They are quite clear and meaningful, although admittedly in a light hearted way. Wise one, you didn’t tell us what “Off Topic†means. General means ‘wide ranging and all purpose’ to the rest of us. It manages all topics not covered under another section. Not necessarily aimless as you so conveniently put it. When I think of you, this quote comes to mind . "The course of every intellectual, if he pursues his journey long and unflinchingly enough, ends in the obvious, from which the non-intellectuals have never stirred. " - Aldous Huxley And that’s a compliment btw.. just incase you decide to take the longer route, only to arrive back at destination A. Waiting for you to conjure up some spurious definition for “Off Topicâ€.
  4. Does the title "Off Topic" make sense to anyone? It certainly doesnt to me. Maybe the wise-guy who suggested it can explain it me. I think there are fairly good topics in the "section formerly known as General" and its quite unfair to call it "Off Topic". It reduces everything that comes under it to mere displaced nuisance. I want our good old "General" section back. Are you with me?

Raami, I’m afraid when I’m old, you’d be past senility and wishing for a quick way out of this dismal world or just completely dysfunctional. Neither will do. And leave ma wedding plans alone, you don’t even have that option. God save us from discontented, on the look out Somali men.
  6. LOL@Xoogsade. The concept of equality with regards to genders is more aptly put as ‘equal but different’. There are certain roles only one can fulfil (like childbirth) and there are roles more suited for one (like dowry and wedding expenses). It just wouldn’t be fitting for a woman to get the ring and get down on one knee, nor to pay for the wedding expenses. I’ll definitely help – help plan it i.e. Many worthier candidates have made aware their keenness. I’m not interested in penny-pinching men. So dear X, start saving or you’ll grow old and frail alone.

  9. Sheherazade - You are inspirational. Today I helped an old couple with their baggage, down an escalator, on my way to work. I smiled to myself and remembered you. Good luck with the JOB + Get well soon!

Originally posted by IL CAPO: Everybody deserves a second chance no matter what and we all make silly mistakes that we live to regret for the rest of our lives U think murder and rape are silly mistakes? I'm shocked at your lack of judgement MR. IL CAPO. These are crimes that take profound conviction, planning and thinking through. Hardly an accident and never a mistake. Jalaqsan, I'd be very surprised at the girl who falls for such an individual. I hate condemning people and it’s a last resort, but some1 who committed such heinous crimes shouldn’t even be let out in the public, let alone into the sanctity that is marriage.
  11. Please read the following link relating to a book titled 'The Prophet of the doom' by Craig Winn. Link Sign this petition to stop the publication of this book. Petition This is the most disgusting and hateful book I've ever come across. I'm lost for words. I dont even understand how this man can write this and get away with it.
  12. Are you both speculating or thats the final verdict? Bush really won?
  13. ^^ Ok, what about men who have perfume on? I've been known to turn and sniff every now and then. If I wasnt being modest, I'd say it was seduction too.
  14. Shopping? Presents? I'm not even off that day. When is Eid anyway? p.s Classique, excuse my ignorance, but can you tell me one more time why we are not allowed to wear perfume but men are? I find this really absurd.
  15. No amount of training and patience is going to change men. "Uselessness" is an innate quality. Leave or live with it.
  16. Completely agree SHOOBARO. But hush! Ha isku dirin reer koonfureed. They just seem so sweet when they talk in that xamari dialect. Who cares if I dont understand!
  17. Britain has the hightest teenage pregnancy rate in the EU. Twice as much as France and Germany. The documentary featured (among countless others), these 2 sisters. Aged 14 and 15. Both carrying. One got jealous when she found out her younger sister got pregnant and started trying then!
  18. Originally posted by Bee: The strategy I used for my younger sisters is a little off-the-wall. I went out of my way to educate them on and emphasise the effects and consequences of Venereal Diseases in gory details, while paying special attention to the particularly nasty ones. I assure you, the thought of having great big weeping warts and sores on most sensitive and delicate areas is more than enough to put anyone off sex for good. And it seems to have worked beautifully, since I hardly ever hear any of them discussing boys or sex. Don’t forget the baby that pops out immediately after. Last nite, I made my little sister watch this documentary called 'Britain’s Youngest mum's and dad's’ (any1 else see it?), to reiterate that sex = a min of “illusory†joy, followed by 9 months of pain and toil, distress and boredom, getting ostracised and a lifetime of responsibility. I may have scarred her for life, but she goes to a school full of dodgy kids. Come to think of it, it is a VERY risky business.
  19. Nice one Sheherazade. Makes me wanna sit next to you in Tarawiix, just to see if you'd treat me too.
  20. Except for the word Hami, I use the other terms regularly. I pronounce it as dabnaha, not dubnaha. Interesting choice of words. They all seem like strictly reer waqooyi terms.
