WOW!! I can see it now!!
-
Not in west London. I didn’t want my 1000th post to be this. I wanted it to be meaningful and content filled. To, in a small way encapsulate all that I am to this website…. But you just had to go out of your way to get ma hopes up, only to disappoint me  … and make me want to reply and shatter your conjured illusion of snow when its just rain!

"Control Freak!!!..However tedious kulahaa... while u at it..you would prolly suggest that all food to be rationalised and ppl to queue for bread and sugar just like ur hero Stalin did? " U bet. I dont see why the fat bunch should stuff their faces further while half the world starves. All left-overs and excessses will be deported promptly too. "I say Anarchy rules!!!" Why dont you go back to Somalia then eh? VR - skip lunch. Use your reserves

Just this morning I queued for 10 mins at the train station to get my travelcard renewed, then I queued for a newspaper, then a hot chocolate. I will prolly queue up when I go to get my lunch in a bit too. You've got to luv it.[/QB] Ditto...'cept I already got ma lunch a few min ago. But without queuing, we would be ruthless, mismanaged and orderless. Gotta love the order and fairness..however tedious. 22. You have given up explaining why you are half an hour late to work as no-one notices or even cares. In fact - you may even join the one hour gossip session around the coffee machine before booting up your computer LOL. I dont see how this is bad either. We have flexible working hours and we love to socialise with out work-mates.

If asking you to cook your own meals is dumping...Hell Yeah. Else, I still think you're fine.

Gediid dearest, you're a grown man. Fend for yourself. VR ouch!

VR - A more apt question would be who didn't?. and that would be You, alone.

Harmful Cultural Practices against Women around the World
-Serenity- replied to - Femme -'s topic in General
Shyhem,Femme is just making us aware of what goes on in the world. If you prefer to put ur two fingers in ur ears about everything that doesnt concern ur immediate surroundings, fine, but we are not all like that. Besides, just because you cant do something about it doesnt mean you dont sympathise with what these women go/gone through. -

DinkiWinki, what you fail to obeserve is that you yourself are here with an agenda - to create doubts in the minds of the faithful. If you're Somali as you claim, you're welcome here, this is SOL. But when you came here not to seek understanding of the deen as you initially claimed since are decidedly athiest to begin with and you start rediculing our religion and principles, thats being offensive and out of line. I'm afraid the rules are clear and admin operates on zero tolerance on certain situations. p.s. We dont tolerate slurring of ANY religion.
-
^^Let me show you what Rule #4 of SOL's Golden Rules states. Its one thing to be "seeking knowledge" but completely another to lack respect towards the sensitivities of other people's religions. 4 - Anti-Islamic: No one will be allowed to insult Islam and Muslims under any circumstances. Your post will be deleted and/or username banned if cought with any anti-Islamic attacks. Your views are welcome but your deragotory language against Islam/Muslims will not be welcomed at the expense of those muslims who pay the bill for this privately owned website.

I have heard of Sati, but foot binding? Just goes to show how far we have come eh? Thanks Miss FF. -
and would that advice have been more accurate coming from the imam of your local mosque Good point. Probably. Specially if I was dressed inappropriately around such men. I think its all about timing and appropriateness. Laakin, when I'm shopping, on a high, in the middle of a street full of worse dressed people, thats just being a wet blanket. You should have thanked him for his concern and in return advised him to quit the drug and make something of his life. So is it accurate to say that he cared about you enough to ask you to do something right and you didn't care about him enough to do the same? Right again. However, ever heard of charity begins at home. Lead by example. Practice what you preach. Personally, I'm partial to advice from women. Men should just mind their own business.
-
Right is a relative term UD. What is right for one, might not be for another. Lucky for us, we have the Quran and Sunnah to guide us. However, I blv you are asking me if I think its right for strangers to "advice" me on the streets when I'm goin about my daily business? It depends on the situation. I once had a man with qaat on one hand advicing me to wear the hijab. heh.
-
Underdog, wlc back. Your invaluable input has been missed. ...j/k. Laakin, no1 is faulting the elders. Its just very irritating when everyone on the street thinks they have some divine permission to tell you how to dress/walk/talk/do. For some1 to come up to me on the streets and "advice" me on my dress sense is a blatant insult to my intelligence. Do you think they have anything to say that I havent heard/thought about? No. Of course I'm not saying the elders should be disrespected in the slightest sense and I'm sure they do it with utmost goodwill....it just doesn't make it right. p.s. I'm not advocating for those boots in VR's avator, or for any1 to dress immodestly here.

VR. Your choice of songs and lack of enthusiasm is making me just a little blue. How about dinner, on me?

The words are beautiful but Bryan Adams sounds (n looks) aweful.

^^ Paul Weller When I first saw you, I saw love. And the first time you touched me, I felt love. And after all this time, you're still the one I love.) Looks like we made it Look how far we've come my baby We mighta took the long way We knew we'd get there someday They said, "I bet they'll never make it" But just look at us holding on We're still together still going strong (You're still the one) You're still the one I run to The one that I belong to You're the one I want for life (You're still the one) You're still the one that I love The only one I dream of You're still the one I kiss good night Ain't nothin' better We beat the odds together I'm glad we didn't listen Look at what we would be missin' I'm so glad we made it Look how far we've come my baby ^^ Now this a powerful ballad

Maybe thats why I read about the politics of other countries and hardly ever Somalia/land (unless Dad insists on informing me).
