  5. Xadiithkaas ma sugna wallaahu aclam. ‘al-Fawa’id’ (p. 78), Ibn Al Qayyim said concerning fearing none other than allah (swt) “There is nothing that exists that can affect something else completely independently and of its own accord. Rather, nothing can affect something without another factor somehow contributing to that effect and an obstacle is removed that prevents that effect from taking place. This applies to matters that can be seen by the eye. It also applies to the invisible and metaphysical, such as the Sun affecting livestock and plants, as this depends on other factors such as the presence of fertile ground, as well as other factors in addition to this factor. Likewise, childbirth depends on many factors besides intercourse, and this rule applies to everything that affects something else. So every creature that is feared or hoped in is at best simply one of many factors that can affect something else, and nothing can affect something in a completely independent fashion except Allah, the Overwhelming One. So, none should be hoped in or feared except He"

  10. Spokesman: Third American Killed In Somalia July 11, 2009 - 5:34 pm | by: Mike Levine Another Minnesota man recruited to join an Al Qaeda-linked group in Somalia has been killed in the war-torn African country, according to a spokesman for the man’s family. Family members of 20-year-old Jamal Bana found photos of his bloody body online, according to Abdirizak Bihi, who has represented many of the families whose loved ones left the Minneapolis area last year to join al-Shabaab, which has been warring with the moderate Somali government since 2006. The FBI has been looking into how more than 20 young, Somali-American men from the Twin Cities and elsewhere were recruited to train and possibly fight alongside al-Shabaab. Like many families of men who left unannounced for Somalia, Bana's mother had been regularly searching the Internet for any information about her son in Somalia, according to Bihi. She came upon a series of photos on a Somali Web site, purporting to show an Afghan or Pakistani fighter who was killed during a fight in Mogadishu on Saturday. But, Bihi said, Bana's mother knew instantly that the gruesome photos – depicting a person with a bloody gunshot wound to the head – were that of her son. “He doesn’t look Somali. He has very light skin,” Bihi said. “So they thought he is a foreign jihadist from Afghanistan or Pakistan.” Bihi said the Somali government took the photos to show the world that they had killed a foreign fighter. He said most of the photos were taken inside the Somali Presidential Palace, after Bana's body was removed from the streets of Mogadishu. One photo shows the body being carried on a stretcher in the middle of a street, as soldiers and a man in a red collared shirt, with a rifle slung over his shoulder, look on. Fox News has decided not to show the photos in full, due to their graphic nature. An FBI spokesman in Minneapolis said the FBI is aware of the photos, but he would neither confirm nor deny that they show Bana's body. Before leaving for Somalia, Bana had studied electrical engineering at a community college. Bana would be the third known American to die alongside al-Shabaab. Bihi’s nephew, 17-year-old Burhan Hassan, was killed in Somalia last month. He was a senior at Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis when he left for Somalia with Bana in early November last year. It's unclear exactly how Hassan died. Law enforcement officials said Hassan was likely killed by artillery fire or a stray bullet. But his family has accused al-Shabaab of murdering him. Bihi suggested that Bana was also killed by al-Shabaab, after being “brainwashed” to join them. In October 2008, 27-year-old college student Shirwa Ahmed of Minneapolis became "the first known American suicide bomber" when he blew himself up in Somalia, killing dozens, according to the FBI. Bihi was planning to hold a press conference about Bana late this afternoon.

  19. Western propaganda trying to paint paid mercenaries as their newly found lifeline, in the hope of stopping "extremist" from taking command of that country. Although the desecration of the grave did anger many sufis, most of the supplies and organization came from ethiopia, and the qadirriya have always been at ease with Habash. Some even argue that it's un islamic to fight ethiopia, since, as they claim, they helped the sahaba. it was several weeks ago when ethiopian officals came to guriceel to stop a clan dispute that almost broke the organization.

  22. GONE for "training" Somalia: Over 100 MPs fly to Kenya for training seminar 13 May 13, 2009 - 1:20:55 PM MOGADISHU, Somalia May 13 (Garowe Online) - More than 100 Somali lawmakers flew from the national capital Mogadishu on Wednesday to participate at a planned training seminar being held in neighboring Kenya, Radio Garowe reports. International organizations are expected to host the training in Nairobi, where members of the Somali Parliament, which includes some 275 new lawmakers, will be taught about parliamentary conduct, activities and good governance. A special plane arrived at Mogadishu's Aden Adde International Airport to transport the lawmakers to Nairobi, officials said. Parliament Speaker Sheikh Aden "Madobe" Mohamed remained in Mogadishu, but sources close to him said he is expected to fly to Nairobi next week. Some 160 Somali MPs have been in Nairobi since the Somali Parliament was expanded in January to accommodate lawmakers from an Islamist-led opposition group that joined the government under a U.N.-brokered peace deal, sources added. The timing of the lawmakers' trip to Kenya comes as Islamist rebels, led by Al Shabaab and Hizbul Islam, have intensified the armed campaign against the interim Somali government of President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed, former leader of the Islamic Courts movement. Islamist fighters have captured most districts in Mogadishu and are slowly inching closer to the Villa Somalia presidential compound, where pro-government Islamist militia and African Union peacekeepers (AMISOM) stand guard. A parliament source confidentially told Garowe Online that the trip to Kenya was scheduled, but noted that the date of the trip was "sped up due to security concerns." The temporary parliament building in Mogadishu has come under attack and lawmakers postponed a parliament session citing security concerns last month. Somalia has lacked an effective national government since 1991, when clan militia overthrew a military ruler and the Horn of Africa plunged into chaos. President Sheikh Sharif's government is the 15th attempt to restore order by the international community. Source: Garowe Online
  23. By: Sihab ad-Din Ahmad bin Abd al-Qader bin Salem bin Utman About the Book Sihab ad-Din Ahmad bin ‘Abd al-Qader’s account of the early sixteenth century Jihad, or holywar, in Ethiopia, of Imam Ahmad bin Ibrahim, better known as Ahmad Gran, or the Left handed, is an historical classic. The Yamani author was an eyewitness of several of the battles he describes, and is an invaluable source. His book, which is full of human, and at times tragic, drama, makes a major contribution to our knowledge of a crucially important period in the hisoty of Ethiopia and Horn of Africa. ‘Futuh al-Habasa,’ or ‘Conquest of Abyssinia’ - which undoubtedly reflects the situation as it seemed to its Yamani author at the time of its composition. The forces of Imam Ahmad bin Ibrahim had occupied the greater part of Ethiopia. The resistance of Emperor Lebna Dengel had virtually come to an end, and many Christians had chosen to convert to Islam. The victorious Imam’s regime seemed there to stay. This was, however, far from the end of the story. The Imam was killed in battle on February 21, 1543, whereupon his army almost immediately disintegrated. Those of his soldiers who could do so made their way back to the East. Not a few Muslim converts reverted to their former faith. The Futuh thus refers to a relatively short, though crucially important, period in Ethiopia’s long history. The book is nevertheless valuable, in that its author was an eye-witness of many of the events he describes, and writes, as far as we can judge, with a degree of objectivity rare for his time. (translated by a missionary fella, so read it witha pinch of salt) There is aslo an arabic version available called fatxul zammaan.
