  1. Aside from the marriage aspect, the truly distressing thing is the reality that a society with unstable families will never prosper. A breakdown in the family institution affects the very fabric of the society.
  2. Amazing walaahi, Somalis continue to amaze me by the day! Even at a measly soccer match they manage to create a qabiil problem (because that is what it is Quiet Storm). As a non-Somali Lander I too was extremely offended that you put me in a group with Siad Barre. What’s even worse is how people never seem to get over the past. What’s done is done, it’s over! Yes what happened was terrible. And yes it was inhumane. However, it’s in the past, it’s time we looked to the future and learnt from the past. I’m sick and tired of people crying about what Siad Barre did walaahi, he is dead, gone, and he is now facing Allah. People continue to complain about him, but the sad thing is they allow for him to continue haunting them. And please, don’t even try and say my family and I were not affected. My adeer was killed thanks to the regime, my abti was forced to leave the country and flee for his life thanks to the regime (even before the late 80’s massacres), my mother was persecuted on numerous occasions and jailed for a short period of time (Islamic reasons) by the regime and worst of all my own father was smuggled out of the country for he was wanted by the regime (therefore loosing many years of my childhood with him). Aside from this, if we speak of tribes targeted by him, then mine was persecuted in Mudug in the 70s. But even after all this, I still see Siad Barre as an individual. I make a distinction between him and those that might share a tribe (or a region) with him. In fact if he has a brother who is a decent person (my knowledge of Somali politics is limited), then I would see him as different to his brother. Blood maybe thicker than water, but creed is thicker than blood. I have nothing against Somaliland (in fact I support it- although going to see my father’s side of the family in Boorama would mean going to another country ). The way I see it is, why force a people to stay when they don’t want to? I say each to their own and may Allah be with you. However, enough with the Siad Barre, “we we’re persecuted” argument. Many were persecuted. Just say you wish to have your own country (no biggie, you have a right). If I have offended anyone, my apologies, it was not my intention.
  3. Mashallah, May Allah accept your prayers.
  4. Many thanks. Applying the advise of the original post and the great info from Nafisa will inshallah keep us all safe.
  5. MiZz_LeXuS Hold your horses sister. The remark was not directed at you personally, so i can't see the reason for the outburst (unless of course i hit a nerve unintentionally ). If this is the case, then because of the triviality of the argument i shall express my regrets . As for the going down on your husband thing, i must say such terminology is not really to my liking however if you are speaking of the topic in the Islamic forum, then allow me to correct you sweetie. I RAHIIMA, ACCEPT THAT FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS ACT THEN IT IS UP TO THEM (for i cannot find proof in Islam which states it is haraam and for me to say something is haraam when i have no daleel/proof is to commit kufr and possibly leave the fold of Islam- and alxamdullilah i am satisfied Allah chose to bestow upon me the light of Islam and therefore would not want to sabotage such a blessing). HOWEVER, PERSONALLY (as i stated in that topic- maybe you just missed this part) I WOULD NEVER EVER (and may Allah keep me away from it) HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT! I hope that makes sense this time. BTW, i don't know where you got the idea i was lecturing you or whatnot, but rather contrary to that- I was just expressing my opinion like you all did. No harm to that is there?
  6. Sisters, Sisters, i am so disappointed in you all. Why on this earth would you want a western wedding over a beautiful cultural wedding? Do you all realise what you are saying? It maybe unconscious, but you are all screaming loudly, I THINK THE WESTERNERS ARE BETTER THAN I AM!!! Change your way sisters, there is nothing better than your own culture (of course under the assumption that it is not in conflict with Islam).
  7. Too many to count. But i think i've finally found what it is i want to do.
  8. Nomads never believe everything you read! Might your perceptions of the situation change if i told you the attacker is a seriously ill woman. She has a long history of mental illness and will probably be let off. May Allah grant her health and may Allah give Luul the ability to forgive. Nonetheless, even if this was the not the case, it’s not funny people. Quiet sad actually!
  9. Islamically, there is nothing wrong with it. Khadija asked Rasuallah the big question. But personally, never (inshallah). I honestly can never see myself ever doing that. I cannot explain why, but i see it as degrading for a woman to ask in today's society. Just an opinion!
  10. Who needs enemies when you have people such as this Ms. Edna amongst you! What’s even worse is that she actually relies on the support of our enemies. Personally, I couldn’t care any less if a region of Somalia wants independence, it just disgusts me to see us turning on one another on the world stage (weather her or anyone else).
  11. May Allah have mercy on his souls and grant him jannatul firdows. He was a great man indeed, taught the kufaar some well needed lessons!!
  12. Inaa lilaahi wa inaa ilayhi raajicuun. Allah ha u naxariisto.
  13. As always you shall remain in my ducaas. May Allah accept all our prayers. Once again good to see you back!
  14. Mashallah, jazaakum Allahu Khayr. Once again a magnificent piece . Undoubtedly Allah has given you a great talent, the talent of conveying the message of Islam in an inspiring, eloquent and yet simple manner. Continue to enlighten us and please don't force me to return to that wretched site. That was pretty much the only way i could gain access to your writings seeing as you also stopped sending us e-mails (Haya Al-falah) .
  15. Interesting! Jazaakum Allahu Khayr Qa' Qa' (love the name) ! May Allah strengthen him in his faith.
  16. Am I allowed to say neither? Undoubtedly, as Muslim people, neither would work for the Somali people. It seems we all clearly see that globalization works against us, but it seems we are not understanding what nationalism entails. Allow me to inform you fellow nomads that Islam forbids Nationalism (the general definition of it). Islam strives to abolish Nationalism. The following hadiths prove this: "Whoever calls for Nationalism is not one of Us." "Whoever fights under nationalistic banner, gets angry for it, calls for it or supports it, and for that gets killed then it’s a death of Jahilyah" However nomads, this does not mean that we as Somalis cannot work towards the betterment of our land and people, but it must be so that we do our part for the betterment of the Muslim lands as a whole and the Muslims as a brotherhood. Remember that our allegiance is towards Allah and His religion, not to our country simply because Allah chose us to be from there. So bottom line, my point was we as Somalis do not need either of the two, but rather require adherence to the religion of Allah, Al-Islam.
  17. Mash Allah, glad to finally hear more good news coming out of the horn (especially from Gaalkacyo for Allah knows there hasn’t been much of it). Seeing as my family is originally from there, i am more than well aware of how such an initiative is critically needed by the people of Gaalkacyo. I’m beginning to believe that they suffer from the disease of tribalism more than any other people of the horn, and inshallah this radio station will somehow serve as a cure (I can dream, can’t I?) However, i must say i was quiet surprised to read that it was Australians that initiated the project, I’ve never heard of it!
  18. I realise this piece is quiet long, but nonetheless worth the read. Another amazing article by our brother in faith, Nur. May Allah bless him and grant him paradise. _________________________________________ Temptations In today's world you can't help but be tempted when all your senses are continuously being bombarded with temptations of sight, sound and scent, you can't go shopping without a fight with Satan. Because Satan hangs around shopping malls and trade expos, if you lower your guard and forget making your dhiker, chances are that you will not walk away without compromising your faith up to a degree, which will make you a weaker Muslim(a) without even realizing that your iiman took a serious blow by Satan. So, before you obey Satan by taking a step toward haraam, think about the consequences of your actions. For example, if you are an impulsive shoplifter and see a pair of shoes that you like, and see a camera on the roof, I bet you are not going to look at the camera with a big smile and say, " Hi mom, this is me , I am stealing a pair of shoes for you, love ya hooyo" . Likewise, if pair of good looking ladies walk right toward your booth in a trade exposition and suddenly they show more interest in you than the products you are showcasing, and you feel like a wild beast in the Serengeti Park being cornered by two vicious wild dogs, what do you do? specially when one of them insists to leave her phone number on your table against your wish, and asks you to call her? Now, without Dhiker protective gear against Satan, you are an easy prey for these high heeled executive predators roaming the trade show floor. Now, think about the hidden camera, invisible angels who tirelessly and meticulously record every iota of evil you commit. If humans can monitor your actions with a camera to send you to jail, then the idea of an angel recording your actions to send you to hell is imaginable, but if you still do not buy this argument, you can always try to prove it wrong by not dying, or in case you die, avoiding to be reassembled, judged and sent to punishment. It is like a poor minority kid who found himself in a developed nation like the Republic of Watts, South Central Los Angeles, who has no clue that he is being monitored when he breaks in a store to steal a TV set. . Allah SWT says: " He ( Mankind) never utters a word, (that is not recorded) in the presence of Raqiib and Atid ( Angels)." Next, think about the fact that no matter how long you live, one day, you will die , Allah SWT says: " And the drowsiness of death approached, its what you have avoided all along" now you can not run anymore, your legs give up, and your soul departs your body. Next, think about the punishment of the grave, no one with you, your very loved ones placed you in an unlit hole and left you all alone with your past deeds file as your company,... and you thought that there is nothing wrong with fooling around to have some fun, go try fooling around an airport with a prank that you have a weapon and see if authorities fall for your joke? Next, welcome to the day of resurrection, the real homecoming day, not in your local college football season opener, a home coming of a different kind, no cheerleaders, as matter of fact, no cheers at all, you are humbled, naked, thirsty and hungry, just like when you were born. Imagine a mammoth gathering of the estranged human family. This is not a Central Park Concert, nor Woodstock, it is a gathering of all humans who've ever lived throughout the ages summoned on a single ground by their maker, Never mind taking pictures, you wouldn't need your favorite tyrant's autography, Those who've claimed Sovereignty of old ( Sovereignty means No one to answer to) from Pharaoh of Egypt and the Roman Kings all the way to our present day tyrants will be brought to be judged by the real Sovereign who will say : " Limanil mulkul yawm" Who is The Sovereign today? an answer echoes back: " Lillaahil waaxidil Qahaar" Sovereignty belongs to Allah the One and the Conqueror . Can you imagine the discomfort in that day, no Ice cream trucks going by for those who have a yearning for Swenson's, nor nearby kiosks selling memorabilia of good old days on earth, No one cares about your nationality, or Qabiil. Subdued Uncle Sam can not rescue his own subjects who've blindly followed his every whim and whish, uncle Sam himself needs help that day, because he will be bold headed without his trademark hat , he is not pointing his fingers at you saying " I want You" . Uncle Sam himself is wanted that day to explain why he dropped a bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki killing seventy thousand civilians, why he carpet bombed millions in Vietnam and why he starved millions of children world wide due to his greedy policies, why he destroyed the environment, and why he committed so many injustices in the name of Justice. Uncle Sam, is humbled, he is no longer the super power, he is more like Mickey mouse. Next, enter the Transcript Pavilion, in this hall, you come face to face with all of your past actions you thought nobody will find out about, you can see it live in stereo and color, like a movie being played back ( without Popcorn), and the more you see, the more worried you get about how to dispose of it, but, unlike traffic tickets or Corporate fraud, it won't just go away, you can not fix it with a phone call to a congressman, your real friend that day is your past deeds, and your friend is no Mr. Universe, he is ugly, bad and he is coming after you with vengeance. The Real Sovereign's prosecution presents the case against you, evidence from the video footage of your actions in the most detailed presentation, guess who the prosecution calls to testify against you that day? your own organs which you've used to commit crimes swept under the carpet, your vision, hearing and skin, will be called to testify, you can't believe it, you ask your body parts, " why do this to me ? ", and they respond, " we were called on to speak by Allah, who taught everything a unique way to communicate, (Allah) the one who created you in the first place and whom you are summoned back ". You will not walk out of the Transcript Pavilion before receiving your final transcript, a record that will follow you everywhere that day as angels administer the judgment process and prepare your arraignment before an impartial judge who knows you better than anyone else, because he created you in the first place. This is not a court in a third world banana republic where people can hear you yelling " I am an American, I need to talk to my ambassador", the American ambassador is also helpless that day, he has to answer for all the policies he has executed on behalf of his country, for which he received a good salary and lots of martini lunches, and whose impact affected many men, women and children. He will plead in vain: " O Allah, we followed (the directives) of our Masters and leaders who led us astray" An Impartial judgment by the Sovereign is passed, A judgment that can not be pardoned by any out going president, nor by a law passed by a parliament, and the Sovereign is just, angels hurry up to lead evil doers to their final home of pain and misery, they will be asked : Is this real, or you have vision problem? this is hell which you have disbelieved so often and joked a lot about it. Next, the Horror show begins, this is no Hollywood production, it is no fantasyland, this is as real as it can get, you rub your eyes repeatedly, but the same horrible image is right in front of you each time, no one can rescue you, you wouldn't recognize any friendly faces in the crowd, can you imagine the inconvenience? and you thought losing your American Express card in Kurtunwaarrey was bad enough, because in Kurtunwaarrey you found yourself surrounded by a dozen unemployed smiling teenagers who want to steal your camera and peanut butter sandwich, but in the day of judgment, you will be surrounded by angels who will make the marines in Camp X-Ray look like harmless cuddly koala bears. Now, be smart, what you can not see, can see you, if you do not believe me, ask Saddam Huseein's army, and that was a human rendering, can you imagine what Allah can do? 2003 Nurtel Communications PPSC Paradise is Possible Sumer Campaign
  19. Not to mention brother, i don't understand why you would want to marry someone who does not want to marry you. Am i confused or is that really odd??
  20. I put a piece of material on my head at the age of 7  (not a hijaab really), but wore the hijaab at 14, it's been six years now and no problems yet Alxamdullilah. But i'm sure that has something to do with having attended an Islamic school, living in suburb with many Muslims and now attending a univeristy with many Muslims.
  21. JZK Muna, that was very inspiring. I recently attended a muxaadara (in Somali) and the shaykh was telling us what a friend of his had once told him. This friend said that he once thought that in this life, if one happens to fails a university exams, they are generally given a second chance to make amends by way of supplementary exams (as they're called down under). Then why was it that the test of the akhira (which is far greater and has more at stake), we were not given a second chance to go back to the dunya and make amends. After some thinking, he concluded, it was because unlike the university exams, not only does Allah question and test us, but He also gives us the answers. So to enter jannah is to simply follow this straightforward path. Therefore, if one is thrown into the hell fire (Alaahuma ajirnii mina naar), they only have themselves to blame. So simple, yet so true walaahi! This dunyah is worthless, so don't let its web catch your eye. May Allah save us from it.
  22. Brother Libaax, Jazaakum Allahu Khayran for the clarification. Sister Tamina: In the past, the scholars regarded that smoking as makruh because its extensive harm was not evident at that time, however as time has progressed and the true nature of smoking has become apparent, most scholars actually now say that it is haraam. This is because in Islam, anything which is harmful to the body is haraam. Just thought i'd clarify that
  23. Mashallah, glad to see that the nomads are contributing so greatly to the Islamic Forum. About time Ameenah, indeed we need to think large sister , *thinking islam right now*- better go check out the islamic forum. Macsalaama
  24. What can I say, I was never good at reading instructions anyway.
