  1. OG_girl: Sister i think you are getting ahead of yourself here. All i was saying (before you somehow mistook my point for something else ) is, it is unfortunate the way our society is, but let's face the facts, until we get everyone (or most) on board and until we eliminate the great number of hypocrites, we will not get anywhere. Right here in Australia, there are meetings for this cause, but who knows about it and who attends? Certainly not all Somalis, and this needs to be changed. We need to make our people (not just expect them to, when you see a problem make sure you try to alleviate it not just point it out and say alas what can we do?) understand and comprehend that they too have a vested interest in this as Muslims firstly, then Somalis second. By doing this, then we wouldn't have people giving their hard-owned dough to the crooks that continue to destroy their homeland but rather to a worthy cause (as this jihaad is). Also, you need to understand that in war, propaganda plays a very important role- it can basically break or make the support from the populace. As Hornafrique pointed out (although I will be using the same argument in a different light ), the amxaaro are employing probably one of the best tactics they have in gaining victory, divide and conquer. Therefore, we are left with one of two choices, either create an Allah-fearing population that realises that names shouldn't really matter (or the fact that one tribe is the majority), or create another system whereby we can at least cease this business of betrayal (not necessarily have everyone on the battlefield for we all know intention is crucial in a jihaad). So basically since I doubt we can create an all Allah-fearing population anytime soon, we must at least exercise the latter of the two tactics. I am acknowledging it is unfortunate, but we don't have much of a choice. I think that Siyaad Barre was very intelligent when it came to these sorts of tactics, he at least made the rest of the Somalis realise that it is their problem also- although his intentions were based on nationalism and not Islam, which is probably why he failed, wa laahu aclum. And btw sister, as i've already said, this jihaad is very close to home for me also (as a lot of my father's family reside in Jig Jigga and Dirdawa and have experienced first hand persecution) so there is no need to take things personally as it affects others also, not just you . Furthermore, there is no problem in having discussions, the problem arises when some of us take things too personally and accuse others of allegations which are far from the truth (vilifying?? I don't believe I was). Anyway, we will leave it at that. But you are right on one thing, it is silly when two people who are in essence saying the same thing cannot seem to understand one another.
  2. Allah has already answered it for us. Wa maa khalaqtul jinna wal insa ilaa liyac buduun "And I have not created the Jin and man but that theyworship Me" 51:57
  3. U got point here , but don't u think IF we were not sick inside we would care about the name of the region? Does colonist care the name? Sister that is not the point. Personally, I agree with the shaykh, simply because using the name ******ia is misleading for it is a somali land inhabited by many various clans and to give it such a name takes some credit away from it, it makes it seem likes the mujaahidiin are fighting for their qabiil pride. Personally it does not diminish my support (and I'm sure many nomads here) for I know it is a jihaad, however not everyone is the same. Furthermore, don't you think that a name such as ONLF is just plain wrong? I will be honest, it would make me far more proud to have a neutral title- for unfortunately in such a society as Somalia where tribe is the life essence for many, our people are touchy about the topic and therefore we should try to avoid it at all costs.
  4. Mother's Day is not a Christian holiday, it's a cultural thing. People, what on earth are most of you talking about? Who said that Mother's day does not have a religious significance? I think everyone is in need of a good history lesson. Read the following, maybe then next time you will think more carefully before you celebrate this day. In the U.S. Mothers' Day is a holiday celebrated on second Sunday in May. It is a day when children honor their mothers with cards, gifts, and flowers. First observance in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1907, it is based on suggestions by Julia Ward Howe in 1872 and Anna Jarvis in 1907. Although it wasn't celebrated in the U.S. until 1908, there were days honoring mothers even in the days of ancient Greece. In those days, however, it was Rhea, the Mother of the gods that was given honor. Later, in the 1600's, in England there was an annual observance called "Mothering Sunday." It was celebrated during Lent, on the fourth Sunday. On Mothering Sunday, the servants, who generally lived with their employers, were encouraged to return home and honor their mothers. It was traditional for them to bring a special cake along to celebrate the occasion. In the U.S., in 1908 Ana Jarvis, from Grafton, West Virginia, began a campaign to establish a national Mother's Day. Jarvis persuaded her mother's church in Grafton, West Virginia to celebrate Mother's Day on the anniversary of her mother's death. A memorial service was held there on May 10, 1908 and in Philadelphia the following year where Jarvis moved. Jarvis and others began a letter-writing campaign to ministers, businessmen, and politicians in their quest to establish a national Mother's Day. They were successful. President Woodrow Wilson, in 1914, made the official announcement proclaiming Mother's Day a national observance that was to be held each year on the 2nd Sunday of May. And don't forget, the blessed prophet s.a.w said: "Whoever imitates a people, he is one of them" So in reality, to celebrate Mother's day after you have come to know its origin is to endanger your Islam. I just want to say I disagree with you there. Just because it's invented by gaalo, doesn't mean it's wrong for muslims to participate in it. Democracy was invented by gaalo, True to some extent, not everything invented by the Gaalo is evil, however when it is in contradiction with Islam we reject it-democracy is one of them btw. I'm sure you are aware that the principle teaching of democracy is the famous quote "Give unto Ceaser what is Ceaser's and give unto God what is God". This in essence is the separation of the state and church, Islam objects to this for the complete life of the Muslim and his/her community is dictated by the shariica and we do not separate politics from the masjid. Whereas in democracy where sovereignty lies with the people, in Islam complete sovereignty lies only with the All-powerful Allah. Kruella Sister, although I do agree that we need to have more wisdom when explaining the teachings of Islam, we cannot turn a blind eye when it is clear that there is something wrong here. Allah (S.W.T) said in surat Al-Imran, (Verse 110): "You are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind, you enjoin Al-Ma'ruf (good) and forbid Al-Munkar(evil), and you believe in Allah…" Allah (S.W.T.) ordered this Ummah in surat Al-Imran, (Verse 104), what can be translated as, "Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good (Islam), enjoining Al-Ma'ruf and forbidding Al-Munkar. And it is those who are the successful."
  5. ask minimum stuff, and u'll see all the guys would get married at younger age. although playmaker aka ciyaar sameeye has a point with checkmate. We don't want them to. They need to mature, so probably by 27 they will be ready.
  6. You will be missed sister! Awaiting your return inshallah.
  7. So do you know when exactly she will br brought to Melbourne?
  8. The problems are many, but how can our brethren of this area gain independence when their own fellow brothers are stabbing them in the back day and night. It's a bloody conspiracy, the Somaliland and Moqadishu leaders turn in the mujaahidiin who escape to Haygeysa and Xamar back to the enemies, Cabdullahi Yusuf & Caydiid Jr. are puppets of this brutal regime, and even more disgustingly some Somalis actually see this as one clans problem. In some ways though, as Shaykh Umal (who is from that region) said, it is best that the area is given a neutral name (like Somali Galbeed) in order to get everyone on board in the struggle. Walaahi I feel for those who live there, the gaalo are such xaasidiin. Some of my family live there (mainly Jig Jigga and *** dawa) and they have experienced the wrath of this oppression- but inshallah victory will come soon for it is Allahs promise to the muiminiin. like Mujaahid Cabdullaahi Yuusuf Yeey No offense, but are you joking? How on this earth can you compare the great Axmad Gurey to this traitor (first Somali to bring the Ethiopians into Somalia, in terms of support in the civil war)? Please do not insult this hero, and may Allah cleanse him of being the likes of CY. Mad Mulla, wallalo, u have one of the warlords as a signature and u talking about United Somalia!!!..just check the map u have , is that Great Somalia u talking about? Here here, exactly what I was thinking . May Allah free our brothers and sisters from the oppression of the kufaar and bring victory their way. Aamiin Yaa Allah!
  9. Acuudu bilaah. I hope he repents and may Allah then forgive him of his sins.
  10. The reasoning that Imam Jacfar was shiica because those who claim to follow him are shiica is similar to one agreeing that nabi ciise was a Christian because Christians follow him. I'm sure we all agree that such a premise is not only defective and but almost laughable. This discussion is almost like what the Quraysh said to Rasuallah (about them and their gods entering jahanama) in surah Zukhruf. Having that, it is clear that imaam jacfar is free from the claims of these people, and inshallah he was on the correct path of Ahulus-sunnah wal jaamac. The only reason that the shiica follow him is because he was part of the ahlul bayt. Anyway, I believe it is for those who make such an allegation (that the imam was shiica) to prove their claims. The burden of proof always lies with the affirmative side . So till then, the shaykh is innocent of all allegations.
  11. its, pinky and the brain. How the hell did you know that? My God.
  12. where is the Muslim men of this Ummah Sadly most are either sleeping or too busy being decieved by the glitters of this dunya. AAMIIN, AAMIIN. Allaahuma acizal Islama wal muslimiin, wa adila shirka wal mushrikiin.
  13. Phil, Brother, I suppose we all interpret statements differently, for that reason allow me to reassure you, in no way was I trying to debase the rightful owners of this land (which I wholeheartedly acknowledge). If only you knew the history of the Aborginal people, and what they've been through. I'm studying Australian History, and the treatment of Aborginal back in colonial times is not only tragic but so unbelievably inhumane. As we all have- you cannot of have grown up in Australia and not know the plight of the aborigines. And yes I agree, it was tragic and inhumane- I don't believe I was saying otherwise. However, what I also believe in wholeheartedly is the good old phrase that people will only treat you the way you let them. Therefore, I believe that it is up to the aboriginal people to get off their backside (excuse my language) and begin to make changes, for believe you me, no white Australian government will take any major dramatic steps to ease their plight. They need leaders among themselves who are strong enough and intelligent enough to tackle the issues of their continued demise, namely alcohol and substance abuse, unemployment, lack of education etc- and not just their status symbols, Cathy Freeman to name one. Personally, I feel enough is enough and it is about time that we all acknowledged what has happened in the past, but it is just that- HISTORY . Instead of crying for a sorry they will probably never hear (for we all know the previous governments were as guilty as guilty can be) and a remorse they will probably never witness, it is about time they rose from the ashes and took their rightful dignified place in society. To be honest, it saddens me, yet angers me for they contribute to their state, by doing absolutely nothing but complain about the evils of the white man (generalising here of course). They need compassion, not criticism Tough love is compassion. No need to continue to pat them on the back and tell them tomorrow will be a brighter day when they don't work for it. Only through struggle will they achieve- and so far I have yet to see any major struggle. Sure enough they protest outside parliament once every couple of years and put a curse on the PM, but so what? At the end of the day, they have achieved almost nothing and it is all forgotten. The stigma of being an Aborginal person is so strong in Australia, that problems, whether it is in fields like education, health or the law, is so problomatic and extremely evident. Maybe so, but they also receive so many concessions, it's ridiculous. I'm beginning to think that this is actually doing them more harm than good. Bottom line, my comments are not ones of racism (explain to me how they are anyway), but rather hopefully constructive criticism.
  14. Allow me to add to the ever growing 1983 crew.

  17. Yea so whats new? In a way so true, it's not the first time, our Iraqi brothers and sisters are not the first to suffer at the hands of the kufaar, and unfortunately will not be the last. But alas, it is still incredibly shocking, saddening and disheartening to see this great ummah of Muxammad s.c.w in such a sad state . Allow me to therefore ask, what are we going to do about it? There is no point in becoming saddened every few months and then forgetting about it. Allahuma acizal islaama wal muslimiin wa adila shirka wal mushrikiin. . May Allah give victory to Islam and the Muslims, and bring about the demise of shirk and the mushrikiin.
  18. I think the best facial on earth is Qasil - if you mix a lil natural youghurt than it really cleans up your skin... Gotta agree. I wish i could be bothered to do it routinely though. Girls, even though we're talking about facials, let me divert for one second- ROSE HIP OIL . The best you can get, excellent for dry skin, not to mention is eliminates any blemishes. Warning- oily skin sisters stay away!
  19. What can I say, Melbourne was not voted the world's most livable city for nothing folks ! Aside from the weather (four seasons in one day  ), mashallah it is a very nice place. As for the education, fortunately it is extremely easy to get a top class education here (although that moron Howard is making it harder). For now, we have an interest free lending system for higher education (tertiary level) and even better, you actually get paid to study. Somalis are making good use of this great chance-but to be honest not as much as they could. i have heard of a few students in Medicine and Law so i guess education wise things are looking better and better. Not to be a downer, but I doubt medicine (in Melbourne anyway). I myself attend one of two universities in Melbourne which offer medicine, and to be honest we are a maximum of 10 Somali students attending the whole university-and none of us are doing medicine. However, law (been much easier to get into here) is believable, as I myself have met a law student at Latrobe. I'm not saying that it is not possible, but it will take some time and don't forget that medicine is extremely difficult to get into in Australia (a lot more than North America and the UK). But I'm hoping that inshallah these upcoming youngsters (most of whom who have not had an interrupted education) will be able to penetrate this barrier . How deep or obvious is the racism ...considering the plight of the indigenous people. Speaking only from personal experience, I can't say I've really experienced racism, but then it could be because Melbourne is so culturally diverse. As for the aborigines, it's really a catch 22 situation. One the one hand, they are bringing their continued demise upon themselves and on the other hand it is further contributed by society which gives them far more concessions than all other people- and therefore never really allow them to learn what hard work is. Well I’m 1 of the around 20,000 Somalis living in Melbourne C'mon we will be lucky if we reach 12,000 (including all the kiwi invaders , lool). Intuition-good old days indeed ! Barwaaqo, trust me girlfriend, I've been here for for over 10 years and have yet to venture out to the outback-let's just say, it doesn’t look like a pleasant experience, not to mention it is extremely HOT HOT HOT  ! I dont know what u mean gurly wurly! Yes you do woman. We know ! He told us .
  20. To the sister who posted this: NO WAY YOU CAN APPROACH HIM; THIS IS NOT ON; DO YOU HEAR ME? Men like to do the chase, and rightly so, any self respecting traditional sister would find this agreable conduct! it is rather unbecoming for a lady to go after a guy she likes--- as much as this might be ROMANTIC TO SOME (you never know what people find Romantic these days inherently men are naturalisticly predators (hate this word); so don't do anything that will have a detriment upon you dear. Be on your GUARD. Waa ladoogiye, yaan la dacaroon. So true, call me old fashioned, but i am in complete agreement.
  21. MMA, Like I said, there is no harm in the men enjoying the company of their mates once in a while, but the problem is when it becomes a daily activity. Let's get real, this is not Somalia, the time is just not the same. The whole community does not assist you to bring up your children. Basically to be honest, it is just the wife and husband and if the husband is missing for a few hours every day instead of spending that small precious time after work with his children, then what will become of them? I'll tell you, they end up never reaching their full potential, beginning with problems at school to probably ending up in jail (especially the boys who do not have male role models). No matter how it is put, this waste of time can never be justified, there are priorities and if it means sacrifices need to be made, then so be it! Your children come first, your wife and her happiness comes first. As for the women, yes we all agree I'm sure they have their faults also (and is just as reprehensible), but like I said before, the topic at hand here is the men. We can always open another thread and dissect the failures of our women. It's about time we all received a dose of reality, maybe then we won't follow in their footsteps.
  22. Return to the teachings of Islam. Learn from history. Bring about justice (i'm lilking Barwaaqos plan- i've always believed that).
  23. Dirac- my favourite type of clothing . I wear it all the time (of course not outside ) and at every chance. It is so comfortable walaahi, one of the things i love about our culture.
  24. , two can play at that game eh?
  25. With the Australian papers, undoubtedly the best and least anti-Islam (as they all are) is probably the Age-unfortunately it is considered the intellectuals newspaper and therefore the majority do not read it. The Herald Sun on the hand is considered "the peoples paper" but is really nothing more than a tabloid paper that is extremely anti-Islam- with writers like Pamela Bone and Andrew Bolt how can they not be?
