so are you suggesting that somaliland is somehow unislamic (as separe nation) can you explain bit more how so. Yes brother, that is exactly what I’m saying. Of course nothing personal against Somaliland, the fact that it is Somaliland or elsewhere is irrelevant to my point. We as Muslims are required to work towards the establishment of an Islamic state whereby all the Muslims become united under the one government and Khalifa. It is that simple, therefore anything which opposes this goal (such as the further division of the Muslim lands) becomes unislamic. Xoogsade, Another A, excellent . At least my grade point average remains absolutely immaculate  . And as they say, great minds think alike !
-
Xoogsade That’s exactly how I feel about the situation. It seems hopeless really, so for the sake of harmony I also say let Somaliland be (not that what we think matters). Whilst this thinking is against Islam, I don’t see how we can turn this around, except if miraculously all Somalis are blessed with enough taqwa and iman to see that our ultimate goal is to unite the Ummah under the one banner instead of disintegrating the little unity that's left.

Whoever it is, i pray to Allah that he is God-fearing and does the people of Somalia justice. Ma ahan Nin Diimeed, waxa uu aad u neceb yahay Kooxaha Diinta.

Nothing wrong with the BARO crew! In fact kudos to them. This is a Somali website, so it is a tad ridiculous for people to object to the Somali language (walaahi no offence intended, but it doesn’t make sense). We shouldn’t blame others for our deficiencies. If you can’t speak, read or write Somali, then learn it for you are all Somalis instead of whining about feeling outcasted. To be honest, I was raised in the west also and am not very confident with writing Somali (probably just enough to get by), and reading it takes me longer than English, but I accept that it is my hindrance and not those who know the language better than I. It is for this reason that I try to advance my grasp of the language (reading and writing). If anything you guys should be in admiration of the Baro crew, they have the English and Somali pat down. So all in all, if you don’t understand, then learn.

What, no Sayyid Muxammad Cabdille Xassan? What a shame! Yeah, yeah I know I’m biased
-
Yes of course! But only in one of 3 cities. Otherwise Mombasa for me, close enough to home and a Muslim area.
-
Funny! Waryaa, so are you still denying your evident bias? C'mon now brother, give it up. Had this sickening piece insulted your tribe, i guarantee you that you would not find it so amusing . In fact i'm sure you would cry foul As for the author, the dude is nothing more than a joke himself. His praise or insult of any tribe does not mean much, all it displays is his bias (for different reasons than tribal loyalty).

What if he is elected to be the president of the republic? I too doubt he will, let’s just say I can’t imagine any of the major warlords getting the top job. However, if we speak hypothetically (I pray to Allah that this never comes true), then as an individual who wants peace more than anything, I will accept him just so long as we take more steps foreword than backwards (which I very doubt if we leave it in the hands of a killer). The way I see it is, if the saxaaba could live with the tyranny of Xajaaj ibn yusuf, then I can live with CY for a couple of years. He is old anyway; I doubt he will remain on the political stage for long. I worry more about the young scum; they might be around for much longer.

To never cry is to be a hard-hearted individual. Certain situations and incidences naturally result in a man crying and to not do so is just sad really. Personally I don’t like a man like that, but at the same time, over crying is too feminine also. To cry because you lost your job for example, is silly, but if your mother was to pass away and you did not cry is abhorrent. The middle path is the way to go.

LoL @ Rahima...erm, what does that mean exactly? It means that I consider myself as someone who has passed the stage of GIRL (puberty is marker) but has not yet advanced to the stage of womanhood. The marker for womanhood is not as clearly defined, but i know i have yet to reach it. Don't ask me how, i just do . Call it an instinct, intuition !
-
lool@AYOUB_SHEIKH Couldn't you just let it fly
-
I consider myself a young lady.
-
Of course, why wouldn't I? America, Australia, whatever, all the same to me!

The German playwright Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was once quoted as saying: There is nothing worse than aggressive ********* . There is no need to get personal, it only proves the weakness of your arguments. However, so as to give you ease, allow me to let you in with a little secret; i actually came to Australia while Somalia was peaceful and people travel to different lands all the time (although it seems somewhat foreign to you, maybe you are American after all  ). I only remain for educational purposes (A-Grade education for free, it's called taking up an opportunity, you should try it!) and inshallah will leave as soon as i graduate and get some experience. It seems my advice has fallen on deaf ears, so i repeat: Begin with either being a courteous guest or finding elsewhere to express your unwanted views.

you call C/Y an Ethiopian lackey, but then why doesn't he hand over ONLF freedom fighters to Addis Ababa like the Somaliland snitches do. It’s called a political tactic, it’s all BS. And anyway like Somalia does not have snitches, I think they’ve proven that on so many occasions, so let us not get into a Somaliland bashing session. Don't be onesided, give an unbiased view. Are you being sarcastic brother? If not, then beautiful advice, how nice it would be if you could practice it yourself. To support CY is to scream bias. Anyway I think we should all agree to disagree, some of us are fighting to eliminate warlords whilst others through misguided preference (for I’m sure their intentions cannot be so evil, I mean you guys can’t even acknowledge that adeer CY is a warlord) choose to perpetuate some of their ideals. Man, I swear if given the chance (and of course assuming I had the capabilities) I’d deal with all these vermins myself, beginning with my own qabiil  !

What is your current Nationality Rahima and where do u live? Australia, not that it is relevant. It is one thing to live somewhere (for you don’t have much of a choice) and a totally different thing to take it too far by representing your “adopted†country on the world stage. Coming here was not my choice (as probably is the case for him also), but representing the US was his choice, and in that is my objection. And anyway, like QQ said, at least if not Somalia, then why the US? How quickly we forget history, history that has yet to end! At least make it a Muslim nation. Better go to your room and think over what you just said girl! *In the hope that it was a light hearted comment* I have , and still I’m not liking it brother.

cajaa ib, we made this marriage thing a complicated thing, for the ladies who have iffys about marriage, ilaahey ha idiin fududeeyo. Of course it is complicated. Something which completes half your diin and requires a contract cannot be taken lightly. To have a successful marriage akhi is not easy; you have to work at it, mostly through patience. That is what is wrong with us Somalis I think; we take things so easily, no wonder why we have such a high divorce rate. One small conflict and already the topic of divorce comes up- I’ve seen it so many times, it’s sad. But you are right; we should put our trust in Allah, which is why I’m still hopeful of the idea. JZK, such advice keeps me in check:D

No, never (inshallah)! But if a woman decides to propose, then kudos to her.
-
I support it so long as the defendant and judge are not one in the same, as is the fashion in many of the corrupt African nations. But, as much as I hate to be a downer, who are we kidding people? This is nothing more than a mere dream that will unfortunately forever remain in the realms of imagination (the imagination of the healthy minds). Warlords thrive for we allow them to. Therefore until we as a people change collectively, no warlord will be brought to trial and justice will certainly not prevail. I’m thinking we’ll probably have to wait until yawmul-qiyaamah.
-
Personally i feel like who cares anyway, the guy is running for the US. It would be a different story if he was running for his homeland, but as far as i'm concerned he sold himself anyway.

the only reason multinational forces commited war crimes was because of SomaliaN INsollence. We attempted to rid you of war lords but you then feel its time to make a point and get your 15minutes of fame. The fact you you sided with the war lords show you probally deserve them. Dude, let me put it for you in the simplest way possible (assuming that you are as you say you are), what your leaders, countrymen and in fact yourself need to do is MIND YOUR OWN BLODDY BUSINESS. Begin with either being a courteous guest or finding elsewhere to express your unwanted views. But like HA said, judging from your English, I doubt you’re a real American. You’re probably no more American than I am Australian.

Now out of these three I would go for Abdullahi Yusuf because the other two where Afweyne's men, and the fact is Abdiqasin was given the chance three years ago and he failed, Adow might be better than the Arta boss but he has no real support on the ground and no experience in security. Brother with all due respect, we all know that is not the reason. Let’s get real here, if we speak of crimes committed here, at the very least Cabdiqaasim(assuming we accept that being part of the previous government is a sin) was not/is not an Ethiopian lackeys- can't say the same for Caddow, he too is a traitor in my books. Most of these sad cases who’ve presented themselves as our future leaders have the blood of many innocent people on their hands, but to be an enemy puppet is the lowest of scum and sorry to say but mister CY falls into this even more tragic category. I can say with almost 100% certainty, even if Cabdiqaasim and Caddow had not been part of the previous government and had not Cabdiqaasim tried beforehand you would of have still favoured CY over them. At the end of the day folks, know that when anyone supports a warlord (be he CY, Caydiid, Yalaxow, Jess etc) they do so simply because of tribal interests (the one who serves their interests best) and not the collective interests of all Somalis irrespective of tribal identity. It is for this reason that certain individuals would of have supported CY instead of Mr. Jama (the overthrown leader of Puntland) when the coup took place even though Mr. Jama was the lawful leader. This fine line is also evident in various other discussions; another example which comes to mind on SOL is when the issue of Somaliland comes up. You can differentiate between who supports Somaliland for the obvious positives it has and who is giving support for nothing more than tribal orientations. You can also differentiate between who opposes because of viable reasons and who opposes because of their tribalistic notions. That is what it comes down to. I just wish that they would stop hiding behind this façade of trying to reason when in actuality any thinking individual can see what is happening here. Honestly, this is nothing more than intellectual abuse; they are insulting our intelligence here!

I personally think it's foul Sister, Allah does not sanction/make halaal anything which is foul. Say that you would not like to be part of a polygamous marriage, but keep in mind that Allah in his infinite wisdom has allowed it for a purpose. To say otherwise would be to question the word of Allah, and as you might know we are merely human beings who have no business doing that (if we know what is good for us).
