Jordan's king dismisses government, appoints new PM
Valenteenah. replied to Che -Guevara's topic in General
Che, true, no one thought the Egyptians could pull off an actual revolution this time last month but the Jordanians are not nearly as hungry for change and their king is a lot more liked than Mubarak. -
Jordan's king dismisses government, appoints new PM

Interesting. Jordan is fairly stable, I don't think there will much rocking of the boat here. -
^Usheeg, you're not that old.

Ilaahay ha u naxariisto aabo oo janada ha ka waraabiyo. I'm so sorry for your loss, OZ, Ilaahay samir iyo iimaan ha idinka siiyo.

^ I don't think they would. STOIC, I believe you owe us an apology?

A bustling metropolitan city, Hargeisa.

So, JB, did you have beer for breakfast, since it's Friday?

Wow, this threads going fast. Or I write slowly. There's a lack of self-awareness with most of us here. Those jumping on Stoic, are not exactly free of tribalism in their political views, are they? Not if they really look at themselves. Although, I suspect for the majority of us, we think we are just fighting to protect our ancestral clan lands from other encroaching tribes and/or Ethiopia. The key problem with Somalis everywhere is this: Waxay iyagu isu quudhaan walaalkood uma quudhaan. This is represented everwhere: the Somalilanders who want to secede but who can't fathom that other tribes and regions might not want to withdraw with them, the Puntlanders who have enjoyed a semblance of progress and peace and can't or won't offer a helping hand to the southern Somalis, going as far as returning those fleeing from fighting back to the hell they escaped. The marauding pseudo-religious militias in the South who can't understand anything but violence and finaly, finaly the useless TFG, resplendent in redundant titles, such as 'president' and 'Minister' of this or that, whilst utterly incapable of offering any kind of alternative to the misery and doom people live in. I don't think any of us can point fingers at anyone else. The cleverest and nobelest ones of us are perhaps those that are actively trying to alleviate the deep problems facing the most vulnerable people back home, either by raising funds and helping to build clinics and orphanages or providing relief and rehabilitation and education on the ground. But these are very small numbers compared to those who fundraise for politicians and maamulada's pockets. Things might have improved in the 10-15 years since the war for some areas, but if events keep going as they have in the last few years, if the Puntland, Somaliland and TGF leadership continue in their useless posturing, then I fear we might see another 20 years of dark limbo. Something none of us want.

My most favourite memories involve my cousins. My least favourite involve going to dugsi.

If you were giving the power to bring someone to life *
Valenteenah. replied to Kulmiye's topic in General
The thought of bringing someone back doesn't sit well with me. I would pass it up, I think. -
^ Amiin. Not sure inuu wadanku hagaagayo in my lifetime, but I hope for it. Insha'Allah khayr.

If someone posts something you like, you 'Approve' their post. And that's how they accrue their green stars. Still not sure about the Rep numbers and how they are generated. Serenity, guess no one wants to buy what you are selling?

Hello Girls and Sayid. Hope all is well. There is something to Chimera's cheesy nightmare. I had cheese on toast a couple nights ago and I dreamt my kids and I were being deported from China via un-seaworthy ships. Very disturbing.

Well, that's true. As a single entity, the Islamic world would be a formidable opponent, as history shows. But are we at the right stage to overcome all the obstacles in our path? Not least the fat, well-fed, dictatorial leadership currently in place. Think they would want to bite the hand that currently feeds them so well? No, I think they are very happy with how things are at the moment. Nevertheless, you're right. Whilst the rest of the world is integrating and realigning to boost trade and security, we are breaking down into smaller bits and pieces.

It's a deal, my friend.

An intriguing idea. With the Islamic world encompassing several continents and with the frictions caused by culture, different Islamic schools of thought, discrepancies in economic health and might, etc it would be one hell of a challenge. The Arabs alone can't agree on anything let alone the rest of the Muslim world.
