So, hadii aad rabtid iney dumarku ka qaybgelin dawladaada, haku marmarsiiyoon men are better qualified or better suited simply due to their gender. saas ayey ka waday, maybe.
  2. Not sure why nomads are insisting it's not necessary to legalise your marriage. It's important and necessary, especially when you consider how much families move around or continent hop. Mise markaasaa la raadsadaa warqad bug ah from the local bug shops?
  3. Mr Comparison never seems to have a point other than to compare apples and oranges. First it was Somaliland child vs Koonfur child. Now it's Addis vs Muqdishu. Why not Nairobi for that matter? Or Kampala? Or London? Oh yes, none of those have been through a 20-year war. Duh. Go buy some brain cells, waryaa.
  4. Leave the caruus alone, peeps. Tuujiye, welcome back (I think this is the first time I'm welcoming you back to SOL?). NG, lol at that topic. 'Waa lasoo furay' indeed. I have been searching for a series of stories Femme wrote years ago about a new bride and groom getting used to each other. Does anyone remember what I'm taking about? Femme what happened to it? JB headed the baros, I think he started the whole 'baro' thing and then was joined by nuune, checkmate and tuujiye. And surprisingly, I found out later, Pucca used to run with them!
  5. ^ That's not nice. Meel aad ka afurto maheshay? And how is our mutual friend doing in Hargeisa? Can you make sure she doesn't have too much fun? I don't want her to move permanently like Ibti did.
  6. Maya, Che, I think wuxuu leeyahay he's single and wants qof sambuse u sameysa? Dunida waxaa ugu liita qof isnacay.
  7. FB, like I said, very Somalified city! Aaah....40mins to go to afur.
  8. Visit the victims of the famine? LoL...that would be too optimistic. Kuwaasi dadkooda xitaa hoos uma eegaan oo waxay ku mushquulsanyihiin waxyaabo kale.
  9. Unfortunately, Ayoub, Somalia oo dhan isku mid maaha. Waa runtaa oo aad ayaa loo dhibanyahay in the south but the North is relatively OK. And politics waa politics waad ogtahay, waxba ma bedalaan taas, lol, although I have noticed a lessening of the usual rhetoric from most websites during Ramadan (which tells you just how much lies and fabrications are generated normally!). Anyway, I can't speak for anyone else here but I actually care about reer Somaliland and don't wish them any harm. Ideological opposition yes, withdrawal of political support yes, harmful or ill-feeling no. This particular 'deal' and Silaanyo's capability and conduct in general, these things definitely bother me. Don't know if your concerns are similar to mine, but I'll tell you it's in really bad form to appear to be angling to profit from boobka dadkaaga (i.e. Ethio's desire for O'gadenia oil). By all means secure investments and expand the port and improve the economy (although in general Somaliland is being developed by its citizens and not by the govt, much like elsewhere I suppose), all great and welcome steps but this Ethio/Chinese deal holds nothing but blood and dhibaato for those involved and it would be better for SL to distance itself rather than campaign to be part of it.
  10. Dhinac walba halagasoo shubo, I say. The most Southern regions might be under the grip of the most severe abaar, but gaajadu meel walba wey ka jirtaa. Baabuur uun ayaa loo saarayaa the food aid, I think, maybe with muti-tribe volunteers. I don't think inay cidi dhibayso gurmad loo wado dadka dhibaataysan. One hopes anyway.
  11. Waa heersare. Indeed Welcome to Muqdishu and thank you for your support Turkey!
  12. ^ What does this sawir say? "Look I'm holding a malnourished baby"? I saw the other photos, aad ayaa loo soo dhaweeyey the Turkish Prime Minister, reer Muqdisho aad ayey u dadaaleen Maasha'Allah. Our local mosque is Turkish and they've been collecting funds for Somalia over the last few weeks, Ilaahay khayr ha ka siiyo.
  13. ^ I like Sophia Bush too. Lemme guess, you're a fan of that super sappy show One Tree Hill? Lol @ Khadar's pics.
  14. I agree with Juxa, it's important to be legally married, under any law. What some people do in order to gain some negligible financial benefit is sometimes out of the fold of Islam, in my view. How can you declare your child is fatherless when you are married to his/her father? That's in essence branding your child as born out of wedlock. Waa wax laga acuudu bilaysto.
  15. LoL, iga raali noqo Taleexi. Ceeb maaha laakiin inaad leedahay timo laga shaxshaxsiinkaro.
  16. Ilaahay khayr ha ka siiyo, inkastoo ila fiicantahay in this sort of charity sawiro laga qaadin oo la faahfaahin. Second picture, that lady is giving the PM's wife a right dirty look!
  17. Well, he didn't exactly say he met with the Chinese govt like some other sites were reporting. Wuxuu yidhi wuxuu lasoo heshiiyey 'maalgalsheyaash/maalqabeenayaal', which I read as investors? So could be anybody. Maybe the Malaysians will be constructing these numerous projects. As I hear it though, khadkiiba waa la bedalay. Mombasa ayaa sheekada soo gashay, which will supposedly see its railway line extended all the way to South Sudan. A new partnership between Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and S. Sudan, all Christian countries, will realign Eastern Africa. Djibouti and SL, in this regard will be left out in the cold. People keep forgetting that Ethiopia has an absolute stake in ensuring Somalia remains shattered. Any Somali who thinks Zenawi is a friend to them and will give them a helping hand cirkuu roob ku ogyahay.
  18. ^ Thank you Juxa, but you know I can't just take a compliment. Gotta make a fuss first! Laakin all the SOL ladies I met, including you Juxa, are REALLY good looking. Good genes ayey wada leeyihiin, masha'Allah. The mutual appreciation society is now active! OZ, what a looker that girl is! Is she Nubian? BTW, figured out who aad ula jeedid the pic. Some resemblance in stature there.
  19. True true, anything is possible.
  20. Sounds lovely, am glad you enjoyed it, hun. CL, markii noogu dambeysay waxey joogtay Dadaab refugee camp.
  21. Maya maya, we'll burst into tears...adigu already waad ka soo dheregtay!
  22. Yeah, some proper characters! The Aussie folks are not around that much these days, but I've got most of them on FB so I don't miss them on here. Anyone remember Mujaahid?
  23. Welcome back, Malika. Lucky girl...how was Zanzibar, that's what I want to know.
