LoL...u must be joking. OgMoti doesn't even want me at his wedding....so why should I cook? If, however, he changes his mind I might be persuaded to shout for some grub from the local makhaayad.
  2. ^^ Hehehehehehehe..... Mindstate: Don't lose hope (and don't listen to Shyhem). Some of us appreciate and are attracted to nice guys. Not everyone goes for the migrains-on-legs they call 'bad boys'.
  3. Inaa lilaah waa inaa ileynaa raajicuun Their deaths were truly heartbreaking. I was hoping the operation would succeed, but it wasn't to be. Knowning it was their time to go doesn't make one feel better. But I guess everything has its place and time. May Allah have mercy on them.
  4. Thanx for the tips girls and ^ guy. Underdog...care to let a sista practice her self-defence tips on ya? How else am I gonna kno if it works or not? A few of my own tips: - Always walk facing oncoming traffic...you don't want cars coming up behind you. Facing oncoming cars is safer...you won't be so easily bothered by cars creeping alongside you. - If you carry keys...and your feeling nervous (trust your intuition always...like someone already said...if something doesn't feel right, act on it) make sure you've got them within your palm...ready to poke anyone in the eye...throat...wherever u can reach. Stab stab stab as hard as u can. - Try to carry a personal alarm...those things are bloody loud...loud enough to incapacitate both u and your attacker.
  5. Absorbing article Bari_Nomad. Thank you. For sure there is always a price to pay for standing up for what you believe in. But as long as your not dead, you can carry on fighting, regardless of what anyone may think. I thank Allah that there are ladies like Hawa Aden out there, trying to better their lives and those of their sisters and daughters. Mansha'Allah.
  6. Originally posted by Guled92: Thanks for sharing this article and I do believe it does exist among somalis. Though there are some somalis with HIV, their number does not compare to the sub saharan African countries. True...but we should never be complacent about it. Tis best never to assume that someone doesn't have HIV just because you know them personally or they don't look the type. Only Allah knows. Abstinence is the best cure for HIV/AIDS. Anyways, someone forwarded the following info to me about a month ago...start of June. I'm not sure about the validity of it (it sounds like scaremongering but u neva kno)...I'll leave it to u to draw your own conclusions. ---------------- Please read it carefully and spread it to as many as possible! "What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us" This happened in Paris. A few weeks ago, in a movie theatre, person sat on something poking that was on one of the seats. When she got up to see what it was, she found a needle sticking out of the seat with a note attached saying: You have just been infected by HIV". The Disease Control Centre (in Paris) reports many similar events in many other cities recently.....All tested needles ARE HIV Positive. The Centre also reports that needles have been found in the cash dispensers at public Banking Machines We ask everyone to use extreme caution when faced with this kind of situation. All public chairs/seats should be inspected with vigilance and caution before use. A careful visual inspection should be enough. In addition, they ask that each of you pass this message along to all members of your family and your friends of the potential danger. Recently, one doctor has narrated somewhat a similar instance happened at the Priya Cinema in Delhi to one of his patients. A Young Girl engaged and about to be married in a couple of months was pricked while the movie was going on. The tag with the needle had the message Welcome to the World of HIV+ family". Though the doctors told her family that it takes about 6 months before the virus grow strong enough to start damaging your system and a healthy victim could survive about 5-6 years. The girl died in 4 months, perhaps more because of the "Shock - thought". We all have to be careful at public places, rest God help! This is very important. Just think about saving a life of someone even you don't know by forwarding this message. ------------------ Wot do guys think? Could it be a true story?

I had the opportunity of seeing Faadumo Qaasim performing live recently and I've to say I have fallen in love with her songs and wit her too. She was so down to earth, approachable, bubbly and just so bloody nice all around...we had a lil chat and she gave me a huge hug. Not at all like some of the other fanaaniin I've seen + the lady has a killer voice too. And she's so cute. I just luv her. Have I said that already? Nothing better than our music I've got to say.
  13. Darman I'm sorry to hear that. I hope the brotha gets well soon. Waxaan ugu duceyneynaa inuu Ilaahay siiyo caafimaad.
  14. LoL @ Lakkad! Am thinking that it's not the lang or the ppl but U...u've got a dirty mind babe!
  15. ^^^ Blah...blah....blah...blah. Change the record pls. QaxootiMammi... Westerners like to pretend that they give a damn about equal rights and the like, when they in fact don't. It's all superficial...equal rights/equal opportunities/democracy/freedom of speech...none are worth the paper they are written on. However, altho it's still a man's world and the old boys' network is still alive and kicking...there are more opportunities for change. So I agree with ur last sentence. It's up to us to break the status quo.
  16. Ameenah... Ah...well, since we've still got the commandments under wrap, I guess we can throw them a few crumbs here and there. LoL @ flying-still... "You can lead a horse to water but you can't force it to drink"...so true.
  17. Yes...I'm also in the Lucky/M_D/Ameenah corner. Let it be ppl.
  18. ^^ Should we be concerned about your knowledge pixie?
  19. LoL @ ^^ Like Aalto, I've met a good number of the nomads already.... and I have nothing but good things to say about them. They all turned out to be 100 times better in real life than online. And, lucky me, I've managed to gain some top notch friends from the experience, altho some of them can be a pain in the arse...(u kno who u r ). All in all a very positive experience.
  20. OG-Girl Thanx for the invitation.
