Well Londoners...good news or bad news first? Lets go with the good. The Daily Stup!d Star finally published an apology for the "Somalis eat our Donkeys" article today. It goes something like this... STOLEN DONKEYS Friday, January 9, 2004 Daily Star Our 21 August 2003 article "asylum seekers eat our donkeys" implied that Somalis had stolen donkeys from Greenwich Royal Park for food. We accept that the suggestion may have been offensive to the Somali community, and have been asked to make clear that the Muslim religion prohibits such activity. We apologise for any offence caused. ~~~~ The bad news is that the retraction is on page 2, right opposite RUTH, today's naked page 3 girl. It's not much of an apology, but I think its quite enough, since its the first time the Somali community acted together against a national newspaper and won. Insha'Allah, we'll be able to respond better next time, should they try it again.
