Well Londoners...good news or bad news first? Lets go with the good. The Daily Stup!d Star finally published an apology for the "Somalis eat our Donkeys" article today. It goes something like this... STOLEN DONKEYS Friday, January 9, 2004 Daily Star Our 21 August 2003 article "asylum seekers eat our donkeys" implied that Somalis had stolen donkeys from Greenwich Royal Park for food. We accept that the suggestion may have been offensive to the Somali community, and have been asked to make clear that the Muslim religion prohibits such activity. We apologise for any offence caused. ~~~~ The bad news is that the retraction is on page 2, right opposite RUTH, today's naked page 3 girl. It's not much of an apology, but I think its quite enough, since its the first time the Somali community acted together against a national newspaper and won. Insha'Allah, we'll be able to respond better next time, should they try it again. Special thanks to all those involved in the process, students, working policy groups and specially the SOMALI CO-ORDINATING COMMITTEE for fighting our corner.

Good Lord Caramel...what a nightmare scenario you've painted...I can't wait to hear the gents' responses. PS: Caramel, could you explain what you mean by "this child is conceived in haraam action theres no way u can make him/her halaal by marrying its mother"?. I'm confused..Why not? Its not the unborn baby's fault, is it? Why shouldn't the child have a right to be born in a legitimate manner, to married parents, however he/she may have been first conceived? -
Murugo iyo Maanwaa-- a true tale of Love, Seduction and Misery
Valenteenah. replied to Sophist's topic in General
Sophist, Somaaligaagu waa perfect. Caadi baan u fahmay oo aan u lasocday sheekada. It's a very interesting narrative. I can guess where it's going but I'm still looking forward to the conclusion of the story. Salut. -
Is it to momentarily forgo any semblance of reality or perhaps to subject your ever valued ideas upon poor souls like I? LoL...both I believe. I mainly use this forum because I enjoy interacting with the nomads...

I truly hope not. Its so horrendous... Op...was the guy convicted?

Tell you what Ameenah, this country is going to hell in a hand-basket. Demonising Asylum seekers, criminalising Muslims, threatening to take away the kids of those who don't want to be deported, ID cards, all the new legislation aimed at taking away the very democratic rights and choices that everyone was sooo proud of... What hypocrisy! Makes you wonder what next?

Maryan... Whatever you do, just remember it's best to treat ppl as you would like to be treated should you be in their position, because as theys say "what goes around, comes around".

"The local sources added that the deceased man was playing a mediatory role between the two women." Seems like the guy was just a good samaritan in the wrong place at the wrong time. Ilaahay ha u naxariisto.

Proudsista... Wish you luck in finding your groom within the next 12 months Insha'Allah. -
Well put ladies. Thank you for clarifying the differences between rape and consensual sex/adultery. I hope it cleared up some of the brothers' confusion regarding the issue. African, I heard about some of the other cases before but not the Somali girl. Which area did that happen in?
-
Happy Birthday sis. Hope you had a good one.

"I MISS THEM" OG...does that include me? No? Why you little....  Walaalkiis, don't worry too much, its just the way life is. You make friends, you lose friends. Priorities, interests and circumstances change all the time. Nothing stays the same indefinitely and SOL is no different. As Hibo pointed out, if you want to get back in touch with old friends, make the effort yourself rather than waiting for them to contact you.

You might be walking along with school friends, and by the time you get home every body knows that you were hanging around with ciyaal suuq and doing god knows what "in broad day light, she didn't even have the decency to hide it"....Obviously this has never happened to me but be ware, il fuur is standing in all corners, n she aint white! LoL... Quite right foxy, big eedo is indeed watching you. Better be careful! By Sue: "And due to me being extremely paranoid I’ve even boycotted most of my friends and family from using Oyster cards which I believe serve the same purpose to some degree." Oyster cards are being used to keep track of our movements? Erm...excuse me for a minute...I have to go and burn something...

I can see the geeljire mentality is still alive and kicking in some nomads. Walaahi sometimes waan ka yaabaa waxyaalaha dadka qaarkood ku hadlaan. Will be back I'A to contribute further.

Libaax, Agreed, its not much of a marriage laakiin, it seems to be a frighteningly common one.

Qaad is a big problem for men and its becoming an even bigger problem for women. Some ppl argue that ppl, regardless of gender, chew qaad in order to run away from deep-seated problems in their lives. I don't know how true that is for everyone, but I do agree with X-quizit in this case when she says "Ppl in glass houses shouldn't be throwing stones". I don't see why your friend has a problem with it haduu isaguba qayilo. At least iyadu wey la dhuumatay balwadeeda. Dumarbaa jira, guryahooda ku qayila oo ku soo xareysta guriga ayu nooc, iyagoo caruurtooda iyo nimankooduba joogaan.
