  8. Salaam all, So, you've finished your studies, huh? What are you doing now? Missing student life yet? Things turn out the way you wanted them to? Me? Well...wax walba waa dhag dhag. U kno..Job sucks, trying to find something better is like pulling teeth (how much I hate job-hunting  ), I completely miss the lazy life of being a student (no offence to current students ). What else? Oh yes...my tendency to blow several hundred pounds on impulsive shopping sprees at any given moment makes putting money aside a tad difficult. Just a tad, u understand. Oh, who am I kidding? Well, do hope the rest of you are faring better. *Sniffles*

  11. LoL...good quotes! Been a while since I last watched a riwaayad...but I have to say I find the songs most memorable. Like the remixed version of that song by George Michael 'Faith' in Abooto Kutubey! Hilarious. Quotes? Hmmmm...bal isug waan ku soo noqon e I'A.

GT, Thank you for that dear. Just what we needed to hear. You must excuse my caqli yaraan, because I wasnt brought up to curse ppl who have never done anything to me. Obviously waad ka xuntahay iney Somaaliyad tahay, as if you are in charge of choosing who is Somali and who isnt. Too bad you cant take it away from her eh? Now garanmaayo ciddii idinka dhigtay waardiyayaasha candhadeeda, but if it diturbs you to see pictures of her uncovered, well gosh look away will ya? Intey daawadaanbaa hadhow la odhanayaa 'ufff'...lol..some ppl! Maybe we dont have such a problem because we've never seen those said pics and we dont want to see them either. If it makes you all feel better....by all means caaya oo habaara, because you must obviously be in a good position to be throwing stones. Dont blame me, however, for not following suit, because I have enough trouble with my own danbiyo without voluntarily seeking out more. Lastly Xiddig, our reluctance to wish Waris Dirie ill, doesnt have much to do with wanting to emulate her. I'm not sure why you would assume that.
  15. Salaam, Why Muj? You busy? I have a valid excuse for not going....I'll be on holiday.
  16. Nafta...lol....why not?
  17. Rudy is getting hitched? To a xaliimo? Well, I never!  LoL....jks bro. Congrats. Wish you a long and very happy union. Gabadh iyo caano.
  18. Dang! I have heard of Basra from SN b4 but I havent had the pleasure of reading much of her work. I wish you hadn't introduced her this way Nur. I have to agree with Princess Sexy here, there was really no need to dig up and post someone's old posts and old arguments from another site. I would rather judge her on what she writes here. That said...dang!
  19. ^^ LoL... Maybe Maakhir means that Somali men have no chance when it comes to beauty...thus relying on their intelect as their only attractive feature. Hehehe Yasmin, I would have agreed with you on the assumption that women bleach their skin for men a few years ago, however I have noticed another trend. Somali women bleach their skin for other women. They dont want to appear lighter for men, (gosh like what man would notice anyway?...too busy admiring the boobs and bum, or maybe eyes and lips...but skin colour?), they want to appear light in comparison to other women. If every woman has bleached her skin, "maxaa aniga iga reebaya"? On top of that, skin-bleaching is so highly advocated within female circles, that even the strongest women fall for it. Including those who are already light. Examplefied by a relative's reluctance to attend a 'women only' wedding party because her skin wasnt bleached and she didnt want certain ppl to see "anigoo ka madoow". And this is a girl who was quite light-skinned in the first place. I have no idea when being light became a competition rather than something bestowed naturally by Allah. This is a mentality I find hard to understand on most occasions, then once in a while a few old biddies visit us and proceed to immediately make vile comments about my youngest sister's complexion >> "Bisinks...oo inantu madoobaa, tollow yee karaacday?!!" And it becomes a little clearer. If girls are made to have a complex about the colour of their skin at a young age by those very ppl who's job it is to advice them and who should kno better, exactly what chance do they have in resisting the bleaching dementia later? Am surprised skin bleaching isnt more prevalent in teenagers as it is. Dumarka Soomalida isuma tudhaan.

  21. I see we got the art of being mean and nasty down pat in here. How pleasant. What was that Somali saying?...cant remember it, but it was something along the lines of an elephant commenting on another elephant's crap while not seeing his own. Wax alaale iyo wax idinka khuseeya nolosheeda ayaaba iska yar. The fact that she may have had her child in or out of wedlock is irrelevant also, because her child is blameless. Leave them in peace. I didnt think that much of the only book I read of hers, but I have nothing against her personally. I think she's entitled to make her own choices and her own way in life. If she's not harming you, why should you want to wish her ill? What she does, as so many b4 me pointed out, is between her and her Maker. To be stalked is horrific and to be attacked in your own home is even worse. I hope she's alright.
  22. I'm going to have to buy the book because I cant read it all online. What can someone say about the horrific experiences catalogued in the book? How easy it is to argue that wars and conflicts are the answer to problems, when they are in fact death sentences on the most vulnerable segments of society. Women, children and the elderly. Thanx for the link Yasmine.
