I found it quite disturbing how they spoke so highly of their beauty as black women and repeated the ‘black is beautiful’ mantra – but every single one of them (including Iman) had a weave on? Yeah, right, and my name is Michael…!! If these ladies are so proud of their black beauty why don’t they stay natural? I was thinking exactly the same thing. They all kinda looked similar, except for Alek Wek. She used to scare me when she joined the industry, but she's been growing on me since. I think she's very striking. Good thing she's representing 'alternative' beauty eh? I say go girl! As for the unceasing 'somali women dating/married to ajinabi' debate, I couldn't care less. Completely bored with the subject.

LoL @ Jamaal, Ya, thats a clear come-on for sure. Careful lads, she may be a 'Miriam'.

Ahem...*Looks down shyly*...thank you, I guess. Hmmm...nice shoes khayr. *Still looking down*...What shoe-size are you BTW? U kno wat they say about shoe-size, big feet, big >>>>>>>> heart. Get your mind out of the gutter! Nomad, I have never flirted in my life. Istaakhfurulaah!

I dont kno what the fuss is all about, I thought it was a good debate overall. I enjoyed reading all five pages (yeah, am amusing myself coz I have the afternoon off). Well...I find it useful to keep my big gob shut on these sort of occasions. I'm almost sure none of you can predict the future, so you cant really ever know how things will turn out, can you? Thats why am watching this space. No need to take a particular position when I dont have all the facts in hand yet. Clever (altho lilly-livered) little xaliimo, arent I? Alrighty, Somaliland has a passport! So, what is the problem? Oh, you can't use it to travel yet? Hmmm, bummer. No probs, am sure I can wait. Its my intention to have a citizenship in any and all parts of Somalia once the dust has settled and some sort of conclusion reached, Insha'Allah. So, where were we? Oh yes, the possibility of having triple, no make that quadruple citizenships! - British, SLander, Plander and, finally, overall Somali. Yeeey! I have a feeling thats the best I can do for myself. Nafisa: My time is simply too precious for baseless discussions that never seem to go beyond vicious cycle of insults and hostility towards one another. Most of the people who frequent this section spend half of their time bashing their somali brothers and sisters because of their regional background, and the other half on promoting a region their great grandfathers were supposedly born in...I wouldn't be surprised if their attitudes here are reflective of their real lives...how PATHETIC And the ironic thing is, these very individuals whose lives are filled with hatred and vindictiveness, whose low mentalities defy the basic notions of humanity, and whose illmindedness bias their perceptions of their brothers and siters, actually claim to know something about Islam; a religion whose basic tenets are based on love and acceptance for your brothers and sisters. Oh how very sorry I feel for those Somalis whose lives are defined by QABYAALAD. They are nothing but a disgrace to the somali nation and more importantly, to the Islamic Ummah. Whoaaa!! ...thats some tongue-lashing and a half! Spadez... LoL...Me like your style! Buubto, The 'voice of reason', nicely put sis. Good to see you back. Gediid, Is it that time of the month? Hehehehe...jooji hablaha yaryar aad harowsaneysid waryaa. Hibo, Abaayo, dadkan iska dhaaf oo inamari shaah iyo macmacaan aan doonanee. All these arguments have made me thirsty. Do take care all.

Yaa Allah! How could anything going on in the world today, in terms of sectarian conflict and political violence, ever be termed as 'conventional' warfare? The same question applies to Islamic warfare, which has clear guidelines set out to protect innocent civilians, whatever their faith or allegiance. Guidelines which seem to have gone up in smoke. I'm under the impression that global politics are in the hands of extremists, ranging from radical Hindus, far-right Christians to Zionist extremists and Muslim fundamentalists (for lack of a better word). Better wave goodbye to anything resembling moderation, tolerance or respect for life. Am just so tired of waxan oo dhan. Allah knows best.

Why would anyone go out on a date when they are broke? Funny ppl.

Flirting doesnt consist of simple compliments, but also contains innuendos and sexual implications. It is very obvious when a faarax is flirting!

^^ Thats because dadkiinan yaryari waxba ma garaneysaan.

LoL...interesting. Too bad we have developed a reputation as prejudiced against other Africans/blacks. Then again with the crap ppl write on both SNET and here...why shouldnt we have such a reputation?

By Khayr: Yes, the rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasilm) married Khadijah who was older then him, but he also married Ayesha who was very young and if u look at how many hadiths are narrated by Ayesha compared to his other wives, you can see that more time was spent with the Aisha, the youngest wife. Aisha (RA) was definitely the Prophet's (SAW) favourite wife. But think, the Prophet didnt take another wife until Khadija (RA) had passed away. Which makes me wonder, would he have married any other woman, if Khadija had lived longer? As for children, if I recall, it was Khadija who gave the Prophet his only children. The rest of the prophet's wives (including Aisha) either couldn't have children, or their children died soon after birth. What does this tell you? Whether Allah (SWT) blesses you with children or not is not dependent on your wife's age. Marrying a young virgin does not guarantee you offsprings, does it now?
-
In the past, Somali men married at an older age to younger women. Why? Because men didnt marry wily nily. They worked (mostly abroad), they saved, then they came back financially able to marry and support a family. This basically meant men married in their early 30s and afterwards, usually to young women of 15 and above. Now, we cant deny circumstances have changed incredibly within the last 2-3 decades. Men marry at any age now, whether financially able or not and women are more financially independent. So, does that change the situation? Of course it does. While a woman marrying a younger man was a taboo not long ago, it seems to be fairly widespread at the moment. A new phenomenon, definitely, but what is responsible for this increase? Is it because more men now want to rely on their wives'? Is there an increase in male 'gold-diggers'? Is there no stigma attached to being a dependent man? Are women becoming more financially successful? Perhaps, all of the above? I dont know. Personally, I suppose I could accept marrying a man who was one or two years younger than me, but 7? I dont think so, not when he would be the same age as my youngest sister.

Excuse me? Do you really expect me to tell? War baad haysaa.
