  1. Me, I love my original fanaano. Don't listen much to contemporary stuff. The two songs that most move me... Baxsan & Samatar - Kala hadhimeyno (Warning: this song is LOUD! make sure your headphones are in if you are at work or something.) And my favourite fanaanad ever Khadra Daahir. It was difficult to choose between this song and 'Afka lagama sheegto'. Essentially any Khadra Daahir song moves me!
  2. Good thread and sound suggestions, Abu Salman.
  3. Heard this a few years ago on the soundtrack of Ashes to Ashes, a BBC crime drama set in the 80s. What an epic song! Musically, the 80s rocked!
  4. Top 12 in the firm? Well done and congrats my dear! It's normal to want a break or a change when you work so hard (and especially when you work long hours). Enjoy the fruits of your effort for now and take a sabbatical (6 months or a year) when your schedule and HR department allow it, I'A. Waxaan kuugu duceynayaa inuu Ilaahay ku siiyo waxaad jeceshahay oo dhan (only the good things!). Bigger than the Shepherds bush, hmm... it must be super massive. I had no idea they were even building another one. Something to look forward to then!
  5. Fun song and video @ MMA. I like all the Somali accents. The only dialect I have difficulty with is may may.
  6. Blessed, I like both the song and singer you posted. She's very likeable, isn't she?
  7. Borama looks nice in the pictures. And Masha'Allah what pretty girls!
  8. Juxa, there's a Westfield in Stratford? Well, well, looks like I'm missing out on a lot! How big is it? I guess if anywhere needs a proper shopping centre, it is Stratford! Malika, I think that's a very good idea. Can't remember the last time I walked into a shop that wasn't a bakery.
  9. Good morning Trollers, Hope all is well. Can barely keep my eyes open this morning...was having nightmares about online shopping xalaytoo dhan. Very strange.
  10. Surely this is not the case for all wadaads? Many may be corrupt but the majority might just be working hard for betterment and the afterlife. But I do have to say Somalis love the religion, even when their actions conflict with it!, so they do often get misled and misused by the bearded-brigade (wouldn't call them wadaado). Still I think it's important to give the benefit of the doubt unless you have evidence or strong intuition that the person isn't what they claim to be. (In this regard I'm not refering to any random wadaad but those that take up communal and advocacy responsibilities within mosques and the public sphere as men of religion and learning). BTW Abtigiis, I'm glad you're back. You light up the board.
  11. Weligii fartuu fiiqi jirey miyaa? It's not a bad nick in that light!
  12. For those who believe Faroole shouldn't be criticised, he's an 'elected president', isn't he? He can and should be criticised. Especially since he behaves like a bull in a china shop in every situation. It's difficult to believe the Al-Shabaab claims, since Faroole's Admin has cried wolf so many times. How can we be sure this threat exists in Gaalkacyo when the same accusations were also thrown at other groups and towns? It's more reasonable to assume that Faroole sees the Shabaab as an income revenue. The TFG gets funding to fight them, so why not Puntland too? How else can we explain the constant pulling of the Al shabaab card for every little incident or issue that arises?
  13. Ha ha...Sayid, you sure you're not responsible for this? I knew all that love for Qardho would end badly!!
  14. Masha'Allah. Mabrook and blessings to Nehanda and groom. May Allah bless their union and grant them caruur khayr qaba.
  15. It's not a nice term, that, and shouldn't be used. This thread is gonna blow up. I assume Abtigiis is fully armed and expectant? I will get out of the way before the mortars start flying. Adios Inadeer, t'was nice knowing you.
  16. 10 years...amazing walaahi. It certainly changed the world. Made the new Millenium start with a bang that still hasn't ended, started wars where hundreds of thousands of people perished, it initiated a scrapping of Human rights laws and the introduction of legislation limiting the liberties nations had fought so hard for. It was a game changer. Bet even the hijackers never dreamed their actions would have such far-reaching consequences! But we can't ignore that 9/11 was also a huge boon for the US military industrial machine. Their tide came in then and still hasn't left! So where were you? I was at Uni....queuing up at the departmental office so I could hand in my chosen modules. People started getting texts and talking about planes and buildings but I didn't pay much attention. It was only when I got back on the tube that I saw the front-page of the Evening Standard displaying the smoking Twin Towers in all their glory. I could hardly wait to get home after that and I was parked in front of the TV watching the news channels for the rest of the day as well as the next few days. It was the most spectacular thing I had ever seen and the horrific images of people throwing themselves from the towers kept me awake for weeks. Who did it? According to mainstream opinion, it was Osama wot done it. According to conspiracists, it was the Zionists, the american Military, Bush himself, possibly even aliens who visited our planet and disliked how Hollywood portrays them in Movies. Me? I think it was the hijackers wot done it. Is the world a better place as a result? How can it be? No, it's a much much worse place, but I daresay it will only get more horrible.
  17. Not a bad tactic, as long as it bears fruit.
  18. The main problem and the biggest obstacle in Puntland now actually seems to be Faroole. This president may have lost the confidence of many, if not the majority, of Puntlanders and is painfully incapable of putting anything right. For those more knowledgeable, is there any way he can be forced to resign or have his term cut short? Probably this route would be through the parliament and some of the stuff I have read seems to imply the moral will exists but perhaps the political will doesn't? Is the parliament capable or toothless when it comes to this? Some of the general insecurity possibly has more to do with the existence of an armed population and can happen anywhere.
  19. LoL..actually it would have been better if you had made it up, because at least adigu Somali ayaad tahay oo wax waad qiyaasi kartaa in terms of tribes. Malay-gu garan maayo meeshey ka keeneen this figure.
  20. I've been put in my place. You didn't need such a big gun laakiin.
  21. Ah, Nina you've reminded me of my great injustice to my own laptop. I can't believe I forgot about it....without it I'm incomplete! It's a material world. We gotta have the latest phone, computer, big-screen TV (what the hell is the point of the 3D TV malarkey? Who wants to watch the news with 3D glasses?) etc etc. Hard to resist (especially the kitchen gadgets!) but I'm trying to train my mind and heart not to pay too much attention to these goodies. Blessed, oh yes I know how tempting those smart phones are! I have used hubby and sisters' phones occasionally. Maybe I'll come on board at some point I'A (2015!).
