I read that story in Al Facshir newspaper and I couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor wife with the kids because in Dubai once your juice has been tasted no other man will ever want to drink another man's left over. First...Can I just say EEWWWWWW! Second, what makes you think she would be remotely interested in another man if the one she is married to and has kids for behaved in such a way? Mise you believe a woman isnt complete unless she has a dhoore beside her? In any case...WATEVA.

A man who knows his woman, if she were to find out, will be waiting for him in the kitchen with a meat cleaver will never cheat...whether his testicles are exposed or not.

And how much pleasure did you gain from this little outburst? Foxxy, Much like you, I used to avoid confrontations like I avoid cooking dinner for the family. I was always the one giving in, going out of my way to calm the situation...etc etc. The problem with this is that always being the peaceful one does those around you a lot of good, BUT doesnt do ANYTHING for you, simply because your always the one repressing their emotions. Everyone needs to vent their anger. My advice? As you already did everything u could to get along with this gal, u now have one of two options... 1) Completely ignore her. Look thru her. As far as your concerned...she's not there and never was. Lets see how she likes it! 2) Everytime she acts up...you act up twice as much. Give her a long hard stare...then turn around and leave, kicking wateva is around and banging the door hard on ur way out... LoL...not only will she get off ur case, but she will be offering to make you a cup of tea b4 too long. The best thing about it is you wont have to say a word to her...talking never does any good when ur dealing with unreasonable ppl. I have gained a great deal of experience from living with super-difficult and sometimes psychotic ppl. Listen to Aunt Aeryn.

Salaamz Nur, I havent set foot in any part of Som since the war, but I have heard quite a bit about Hargeisa...a bustling progressive cosmopolitan city. Not a bad place to live at all. Also at the rate expatriates have been buying up land, the property market will prolly go thru the roof in the not too distant future...so some of you might want to build your dream houses there now if u dont wanna lose out. Then again, I am beach-loving kinda xaliimo, so should I go back, I will prolly put down roots in one of the xeeb villages/port cities, Insha'Allah.

My stay in the UK has been miraculously racism-free for the most part. The only problem I have ever encountered was with a former neighbour...but I suspect the guy was a few prawns short of a full cocktail, so lets disregard it. I'm more concerned about Islamaphobia. I have been turned down for jobs I was fully qualified for (and sometimes even over-qualified for) and I couldn't figure out why. But after a lengthy investigation, I have come to the conclusion that the problem is my name. I'm being discriminated against because I have a clearly unmissable Muslim surname. Arrgggg! Now...how do I prove it?? Where are all the employment Law students when u need them?

Hello Viking, No it isnt only women who have issues. On the contrary, issues to do with Somali women are well researched, tackled and documented while little attention is paid to the almost acute problems facing Somali males (especially young men). Therefore, in this context, I would say a men's forum is presently needed more than a women's. I don't think anyone would mind if such a forum was created either. I suspect the lack of such a section on SOL has more to do with space problems than anything else. Any suggestions for a solution? Maybe the 'Women's' forum could be renamed 'Social Problems' or 'Gender-specific Issues', thus eliminating any neglect male nomads may feel while at the same time saving server-space. Whatcha think?

Considering some of the above posts, I guess I'm not the only one deeply disappointed by how this thread turned out and how some prolific nomads have behaved. Kudos to all those who managed to control their tempers and express themselves in a civilised manner. Quite frankly, I'm saddened to see Feynman go. He has argued in a dignified manner and has been an excellent member. I really hope he reconsiders his decision for the sake of his friends here on SOL. I'm quite gutted that Feynman decided to quit too, considering the fact that he outdid himself in this thread. I hope we haven't lost him permanently. I have noticed that a few ppl here have serious problems with OG-Gal, and have persistently tried to undermine her with underhanded tactics. OG should be given the benefit of the doubt until this issue has been resovled between her and the Admin, because it has nothing to do with anyone else. Keep your head up gal, coz I for one think your one of the best nomads on this site. And I'm sure am not the only one.

Nobody has the right to take a life in this world. Even in Jihad or war situations, Islamic law attaches strict conditions on how to treat prisoners of war (better than you would treat guests in your home), so I am not able to grasp how we can sit here and attempt to justify killing civilians (whether they work for the occupying forces or not) and especially Muslim civilians. As far as I am concerned, there isnt much difference between the American invaders, and those kidnappers and their like...they all kill indiscriminately.

DA, True...Eid prayers are not a good example...but that's the only time I use the masjid am afraid. If the Masjids in your area are not up to par, why don't you lot do something about it? Do some research, try to get Muslim women in ur areas to get involved, start up a petition, collect signatures...GET CAMPAIGNING! Nothing will improve unless someone does something about it!

Salaamz to everyone, First, do excuse me because I didn't bother to read the preceding pages (no energy), so I'm going only by the title. I cant say I go to the masjid often, despite the fact that I always promise myself to go to Juma prayers at least once a month. So my only experience of going to the masjid is for Eid prayers. Now, I know Eid prayers are special simply because every Muslim regardless of gender probably prefers to pray at the masjid on Eid if they are able to. Consequently every masjid is super-crowded on Eid. I cant deny that I did think our local Masjid was decidedly 'sister-unfriendly' the last time I was there. There were a lot of sisters there, but the brothers were triple our numbers. Even tho the masjid is relatively large and we used to have three designated areas on previous Eids, only one room was made available for the women this time and every other space was taken by the men. I cant tell you what a nightmare the situation turned into. Most of the sisters ended up praying on the staircases, in front of the lifts and outside. By the end of the whole ordeal I was practically in tears....being pushed and shoved, losing my shoes and being forcefully separated from my sisters wasn't my idea of an ideal Eid Prayer. That is till I emerged from the women's section and saw the number of men who had to pray outside too. My anger more or less subsided then...the simple fact is that our masjid is too small to accomodate all the Muslims living in the Borough. I suspect most masjids in London share this problem. Therefore, this Eid Insha'Allah...I will be sleeping over at my aunt's so I can go to Regent's park Mosque, the biggest masjid in the Capital! Hopefully, there wont be any crowding or space problems there, I'A, otherwise I might be forced to get into the habit of praying at home (which is no fun at all).

^ LOL... I suppose the prospect of having to chew food for your dear elderly and toothless hubby isnt very attractive to many young women! But since your fit n in shape, you have no worries, specially if your pension is at the higher end of the spectrum.

^^ You don't need to attach a stamp Juma. Just draw in black ink, a small rectangular box at the top right corner of the envelope and write POSTAGE PAID in clear block letters inside. Post it and voila! Tip #420 for the chronically broke.
