What on earth is going on?  --------- 'Incidents' spark Tube evacuation Thursday, 21 July, 2005, 12:26 GMT 13:26 UK Emergency services have been called to three Tube stations after "incidents", Scotland Yard said. Police confirmed they had been called to Warren Street, Oval and Shepherd's Bush stations. There have been reports of smoke coming from two of the stations and all three have been evacuated. The whole of the Northern Line has been suspended, along with the Victoria Line and the Hammersmith and City. There are no reports of any casualties. Police also confirmed that emergency service personnel have responded to reports of an incident on a route 26 bus in Hackney Road. A spokesman for London Underground said the nature of the incidents was unknown. One hospital, near Warren St station, has started its emergency plan. Sosiane Mohellavi, 35, was travelling from Oxford Circus to Walthamstow when she was evacuated from a train at Warren Street. "I was in the carriage and we smelt smoke - it was like something was burning. "Everyone was panicked and people were screaming. We had to pull the alarm. I am still shaking." But a BBC reporter outside Warren St station said there was no sign of smoke outside. BBC News

^ LoL...Happens. Zu/Haniif...afraid I haven't seen that film. I don't go for romantic mush. Fidel, xaji: Honey, come on to bed. I'm waiting. Zephyrine: Who the f&*k are you? And why are you in my bed? Before or after I dial the police? Miskiinku will prolly spend more time down at the station than in bed. Forgetfulness: Forgetting things or loss of memory ability.... Other possibilities include the side effects of various medications and other medical conditions such as depression, anxiety, .... Ok...that explains it.

Soya Milk? Yuck. I can't imagine anything more revolting. What about Multivitamin supplements? Does anyone here take any? There is always something about them in the news...It is great for your health, take them...oh no..don't, they cause cancer..oh no, they only do that if you take very high doses...they are benefitial...they are useless...they stop colds...they don't...blah...blah...blah. Makes me think the whole thing is a load of cobblers.

^^ Completely true, Xu. All the shops stock the same clothes these days. Nafta, I hear you. I'm also loving all the gorgeous skirts out at the moment...watching others wear them, that is. I haven't bought anything but shoes for the last 4 months. But styles get recycled too quickly these days. These same sort of skirts, albeit not as glittery, were around spring 2004. I still have the ones I bought then. Foxy, Denim, huh? The bane of my life. Shopping for well-fitting and flattering jeans is akin to searching for the golden fleece. Impossible. The last time I found a worthy pair, I had been searching high and low for a whole month and they cost me an arm and a leg. Don't think am gonna go there anytime soon. I much prefer the less-seasonal and more enduring utilitarian look, Khakis and linens, multi-pocketed but flatteringly-cut cargo trousers (Warehouse [uK?] stock the best..for our type of body shape), a splash of gypsy colour here and there and those prettily-knitted pastel cardies. As for bags, Nafta, I'm there with you. I love the big totes too..especially the day-glo ones. Funnily enough, I never buy any, other people, usually my sisters and even my co-workers at times, buy them for me. My only two requirements are: 1)They must be bright enough (hot pink, turquoise blue, deep green, pure silver) to blind me and 2)Large enough for me to smuggle the odd illegal immigrant into the country in. Now..shoes...ooh...shoes... *starts drooling* It's all about the Espadrilles this summer. Altho am a flat-sandals type of girl..I can't help craving those wedges.

^^ LoL...DREAM ON MATE. Like THAT will ever happen. Foxy, I have coped, relatively easily actually. But thats because I have been given a work phone to use in the meantime. YaYa.Yaawa!.Khurad Buraad! You seriously need a major A%# whooping. And i dont mean the conventional one either. At this rate,You will forget your kid in Train station. You May wanna inform the future Xaji about this malfunction[Disease rather, ehehe] eh? LoL @ Afro....God help any child of mine. Being left in a train station will be the least of their problems. Oh and any xaji will figure it out for himself pretty quickly. But seriously, my nan has an amazing memory for someone her age. Farxaan, PDA? A gadget, I assume? Am not good with those things. Haddad, Hmmm...perhaps. An hour per day is still pretty frequent. I think it's more like an hour per week for me.

Ahh...I see. Because she is wearing the hijab, the sign of Islam, she has no right to a life. Perhaps she should have taken it off for her fag break. On a side note, I see a lot of little bearded/khamiised men smoking. Especially on Fridays. Especially in West London. And funnily enough, no one finds it that contentious.

LoL... The typical double standards. Muslim men and especially Somali men smoke like chimneys yet act all scandalized at the thought of a female smoking. What is it, do as I say but not as I do? The cancer stick doesn't discriminate. It's addictive for both genders. Funny how Hadeeth's are always waved at females...like it is only ever relevant for them alone. How incredulous. [Edit] 7...You beat me to it.

I saw something that got me disgusted, sickened to my stomach and feeling that my deen was being put to SHAME!!! Funny, that's exactly how I feel about this topic. What, just because she is a woman she can't smoke? Is it a male right? For goodness sake, save us the sanctimonious crap. *Starts rolling a Rizla*

^^ Aw @ Animal Farm. LoL @ you lot. I'm getting worried here. Sue, short-term memory loss? No doubt about it. Caveman...hmm...that's a bit serious. I'm surprised you didn't run over the laptop. A similar thing happened to my aunt when she was on her way to return a video to blockbuster's. She put the case on top of the car, got in, drove off and it fell off in the middle of the road and the car behind her drove over it. She had a bit of a job trying to explain what happened to the video clerk (erm...I got into an accident with another car...and the only thing that got destroyed was this video. But I'm Fine.... ). Stoic..same with you. Your forgetfulness seems pretty serious. Forgot your car? I thought men worshipped their vehicles? Never thought any guy would be capable of forgetting his car. 7 of Nine, So does this mean you don’t have a phone anymore? Is it the Sony Ericson T610? Or the cheap nokia? Heh..I don't have a cheap Nokia..it was a Sagem, I think. I called the lost and found at the station and they asked me what model it was, and...erm...I couldn't tell 'em. Am going to swing by tomorrow morning but I probably won't find it. So, yeah..no phone..no contacts..nothing. I'm going to be using the office mobile till I can buy a new one. Oh but all my contacts... Afro, Age? You've got to be kidding. My great-grandmother is 94 and her memory is as good as ever. Well, maybe not that good...but better than mine anyway. Rahima, I call that selective memory loss. Fidel, What, you reckon that it's the onset of some genetic disease? God forbid. I'm alergic to doctors, anyway. Jacaybaro (eesh calaa), Much thanks for that. I agree. Haddad, This appears to be a symptom of solitude. Generations of your family have led an active social lifestyle. You're leading a somewhat opposite lifestyle. It takes generations to adapt to such lifestyle. This is about your metabolism reacting against your lifestyle. How do you mean? What sort of active lifestyle are you talking about? Do you mean back home? Solitude...I don't know. I'm generally absent-minded, but I think my main problem is anxiety. If I feel anxious about something (and I always feel anxious..usually about work), the less I sleep and the more forgetful I get. Bit of a vicious cycle. *Exhales*

This morning on my way to work my train was delayed. So I decided to get myself a hot chocolate and a cookie in the meantime. Waiting in the queue, I took out my mobile to send a txt to my manager, letting her know I was going to be late. Then it was my turn, and I put down the phone, ordered my stuff, paid and walked away. It wasn't until I got to the second station I change trains at that I realised I had left my mobile. In the coffee shop. On the frigging platform of that frigging station. Arg! Memory failure, big time. If I don't do something there and then, I forget all about it. I don't wear rings or watches because I always take them off when washing my hands or performing wudu and forget them in public lavatories up and down the city. I have left my swipe card and office keys at home on two occasions this week and it's only Wednesday! Am I going mad?

Hello girls. Healthy diet? (What is that?) Exercise? (Are you mad?) LoL..Am just kidding. Ms Word, I have been suffering from major fatigue over the last year and my silly GP reckons am anaemic too. She prescribed me these huge black iron pills (who on earth can swallow those things? I almost gagged the few times I tried...and the tablets completely mess up ur digestive system), but I decided I didn't want to take them. So I attempted to change my diet. I went from cheese and pickle sandwiches to cheese and spinach sandwiches (spinach has a lot of iron, you know) and that lasted all of two weeks (yuck yuck yuck). Then I decided to cut out all red meat and start eating more fish, and so far it's going well..I have been ordering salmon (the only fish I can stand) whenever I go out to dinner. Next step is to increase my veg and fruit intake (salads, raisins, nuts etc) and also cut out dairy products. I have been advised that cutting out dairy reduces hayfever symptoms. But more excercise? Erm..No. Its enough for me to sprint from one platform to another every bloody morning.

I personally don't think it would be very useful to attend...unless you want to see how these ladies conduct themselves in a live situation. I went to an Islamic Feminist Seminar two years ago, where some hard-hitting Muslim female Academics were given a platform to speak..(interestingly enough 2 of the 3 speakers were Iranian exiles and the third one was American) and I must say I left very disappointed. These ladies never come up with anything new or useful. They don't tackle any of the most urgent issues that affect us (women?) today. They flutter around inconsequestial and supposedly 'controversial' topics and make sweeping generalisations that are neither here nor there. I wouldn't bother myself with their empty rhetoric, if I was being paid to. But whoever decides to attend should report back to us.

^ LoL. You know, I would get offended if the above wasn't coming from a boramian. Mizz Lander, No worries. But for future reference you should know all the cool people come from Laascaanood.

Goonle: Nothing surprising about a somali woman armed with a little education and the illusion of being free making a fool of herself. Thats what we get for letting them slip outta the country while we were busy chasing each other down. Lord have mercy cuz we about to see a lot more big forheaded somali women running to Oprah winfrey and 60 mins talking on the behalf of our nation. Yes, I completely agree. Many Somali men armed with a little education and the illusion that they are something have been making fools of themselves for so long that we have forgotten big foreheaded women with little sense also exist and could do the same. These ladies need to stay home bearfoot and breast feed some kids. Perhaps they could do that if their men managed to stop chewing for the two requisite minutes and found their way to the bedroom. Damn it. *Must stop being offended by random faaraxs*

^ I suppose as a dhoocil weyn, you have a better topic in mind? Yes? Great, why don't you go and post it then? Really.

Originally posted by Fidel: Did you mean 'Fish & chips' by any chance? I know, not funny. In some parts of Europe, they even use cell phones to pay for stuff. That's cool. In south Texas where I live, checks live large. So I'm in line at the local grocery store. One cashier and twenty patrons. I'm number 18. This lady buys a galon of milk and a pack of cigs. Grand total: $6.05. Then she sets out to write a check. Holy Sh!t. Takes about 5 minutes to write, three minutes to verify and I'm dying of old age in line. So we are more than WAY behind. That is just backward. Can't remember the last time I wrote a cheque.

Love Sci Fi in all its forms...shows, films, books. But for some reason, I never got into Stargate SG-1. The film was brill, but the series...I don't know. Maybe I didn't give it enough time to grow on me. Battlestar Gallactica I enjoyed. Andromeda rocks. Luv that show. Big fan of both ST - Voyager and TNG. Got into Enterprise too...but then they had to go and cancel it. It sounds like you have a better Sci Fi channel in the States.

We use 'Chip & Pin' technology here...which means every card has a four digit pin which u type in when you want to use it to pay for something as well as the usual cash withdrawals. So credit or debit cards no longer need signatures at paypoints. Welcome to the 21st century. By Bishaaro: That alone shows me some men's IQ is probably lower than my bust measurements.
