  1. Xalane Really? Your verse prescribes something, it doesn't assign blame or the punishment of rape if it's not followed as far as I can see. It doesn't let men who rape off the hook and it certainly doesn't speak for non-believing women. So what exactly does it back up for your opinion?
  2. ^LoL...guess that's another way of saying you can't back up your opinions. Alright then.
  3. ^ And what of the covered women who get raped? What's your excuse for that? Her face was on display or she wasn't wearing socks? Is it only those who wear short skirts that should get raped? Is it those who just don't cover their hair? Maybe those who wear trousers? Please be specific and tell me which ones are a free for all? Which ones should men rape without consequence, because they were 'asking for it' or were in 'tight clothing'? Xalane, there is also a reason why men are told to lower their gaze. If a woman doesn't follow Islamic rules, it's between her and Allah. It's not your job or the mufti's job to deem her worthy of rape. The sad thing is, Muslim women get stepped on every day and their worst abusers are Muslim men. But then again, it's the woman's fault, isn't it? It apparently says so in the Qur'an. Uff. Every Muslim woman in Aussie, who values her dignity, faith and humanity, should be demonstrating against that old man and his contemptuous ilk.
  4. It's a bit like watching a car crash, isn't it? There's something horridly fascinating about such things. There's a German word for it, I think. But no, I wouldn't see such a film.
  5. ^ That's good. So, what's the Islamic Society got coming up?
  6. Originally posted by masa: Hilaly "It's not about cowardice. I order according to my Koran. And I adhere to the principles of my Koran. And I know that this is a democratic society, and it allows me to speak the word of truth " He's full of it, ain't he? The principles of his 'Koran' must be different from the principles of Allah's Qur'an. PS: Nitisa, don't pay attention to Caqli-Ubaahne. It's exactly what he is looking for.
  7. Originally posted by Khalaf: Ahura I think you are misunderstanding. All the Imam said was these women who uncover and show their bodies do attract negative attention. That is your take on it. It is not what the 'Imam' is purported to have said. Unless we are not reading the same thing. The hijab doesn't save women from rape. A man who is willing to rape will rape, regardless of what the woman is wearing. But is it always a useful tool- blaming the actions of men on women. Further, looking at a woman passing by isn't the same as raping a woman. Most men look at women, whether she is wearing a hijab or not, but they are not all instantly enticed into carrying out rape, are they? Unless you are saying Muslim men have zero control, which would equate them with monkeys and goats. We know everybody is responsible for and will answer to his/hers actions. I doubt very much if a rapist arguing 'she was wearing jeans and that's why I raped her' will be spared in Aakhira, so I don't see why excuses and justifications are being provided for sexual deviants by Muslim men like your dear misunderstood mufti wadaad. There is such a thing as a personal opinion, which is fine. But labelling half of humanity as the foot soldiers of Satan is taking it a bit far, especially when you are supposed to be a respected religious leader and you are giving a Ramadan sermon. As a Muslim woman, listening to or accepting such clearly misogynistic rhetoric is out of the question. It's akin to listening to the views of a hard-core racist when you are black. To put it mildly, it's hardly likely that they would have your best interests at heart. I hope he is fired from his post.
  8. Well what do expect exactly? After all, it's another ridiculous day on a ghastly planet populated by retarded people.
  9. Originally posted by Khalaf: There is truth in what the Mufti said I don't think so. It's sad for Muslim society that learned men have become advocates for rapists and adulterers.
  10. “When it comes to adultery, it’s 90 percent the woman’s responsibility. WoW, I can see how much this Imam likes women.
  11. LoL @ NG. You shouldn't be reluctant to say Amiin if everyone else is saying it. Hope you all had a nice eid, eating till you dropped probably.
  12. You may only store 60 private messages. If you reach the maximum, no one will be able to send you a private message. Please delete old private messages! Nomads with full inboxes really annoy me. Do you need to keep all your messages? What's wrong with having a regular cleanout? Is anyone in here organised? Please check your inbox and if it is indeed full, CLEAR IT OUT for heaven's sake! That's all, thanks.
  13. Well, it seems the managers of our local mosque and the local Pakistani community are fasting one more day because they started Ramadan on the Sunday, so no Eid Prayers in this neck of the woods. The masjid will be locked tomorrow like it has every other Eid ul Fitr in the past few years. Some Ummah, eh? Can't even manage to Eid together on the same day. My dad is heading out to the next borough to pray. And to compound the misery, I'm working tomorrow.
  14. Hello Zii. Any sort of exercise, I'm guessing. But some are always preferable to others.
  15. ^ Weren't you always an insomniac? And no, I haven't done the audio test (I work in an open-plan office, duh). What is it about? The teenage-repellent sound wave thingy? Seeker, I'm feeling sorry for you. I know the zombie feeling of sleeplessness very well. Sometimes it's just easier to take drugs. PS: I'm NOT a bike-wrecker!!
  16. NG is very old and soon to be senile. What do you expect? Seeker, are you doing the don't sleep all night and then stay up all day (sans stimulants) till you fall flat on your face come evening thing?
  17. Thank you Seeker. I could really do with a cuppa but I shall pass. Insomnia, is it? NG, no the bicycle wasn't damaged, but my confidence and brolly were.
  18. I had a difficult morning. First my train got cancelled and then I had an accident with a cyclist. He crashed into me and then proceeded to screech at me, calling me a fat slag! I was horrified. I'm not fat! Grr...even the memory hurts.
  19. ^ No, you are not. Lots of Somalis love it, including me.
  20. Death. Yipee. I'm suddenly craving Pepsi.
