  1. Earl grey tea with honey makes my toes uncurl.
  2. A happy belated birthday, dear. Hope you had a good one!

  4. So, what exaggerations are you going to include?
  5. Serenity, safe commute home, I'A. Originally posted by NGONGE: After long thought and consultation with friends and family I have decided not to (willingly) set foot in Africa again. Waayo? It's not like you even had a traumatic experience in Africa like the rest of us. So what gives, Arab boy?
  6. Ah...well if it's a 10 day holiday you're looking for, then go with your heart. I would second the Mozambique suggestion, Sheh. It's been on my mind too. I hear it's incredibly beautiful (if you are able to ignore the absolute poverty).
  7. Urm...my system seems to be slow too. Nevermind.
  8. 'Toothless mafeeq'? NG, you're spoiling me with all this amaan. Originally posted by -Serenity-: NG , I'm not sure if I mentioned it but Val is petrified of meeting you/running into you. We were at edgeware road the other day and she was looking around to see if you were in the vicinity.. and then she wouldnt let me go to all the big restaurants, so we settled for a little (and rather expensive) one. Bal inanta maxaad ku sameysey? Serenity, waad af dheer tahay! I'm certainly not petrified of Mr Faantax. Sheh, Sounds like you're having a rough time. Talking of holidays, Serenity and I are planning a shopping break in Milan/Barcelona to take advantage of the August bank holiday weekend. You should come. It will be fun.
  9. Originally posted by NGONGE: ^^ Actually, tonight I'm not. I see that you're not either. Lets meet half way, Baker Street suit you? Is that where the underground shiisha consumption takes place now, Baker Street? Heh. LMAO @ 'Girls ONLY ya North'! Norf, ninka iska dhici dee.
  10. Originally posted by rokko: quote: Originally posted by Valenteenah: And, no, am not going to a wedding tonight. I will be watching Criminal minds on TV with a cup of tea and some biscuits. seriously..what's with girls and that show? Vot do you mean? Where do the girls come into it? Norf, NG is babysitting, I'm sure. It's his get-out-of-jail-free card. Pulls it out willy nilly.
  11. Zu, I have to edit because by the time I post a response to someone, four other replies have been posted and it gets confusing. Alright? And, no, am not going to a wedding tonight. I will be watching Criminal minds on TV with a cup of tea and some biscuits. I agree, Lily, uunsi isn't so nice.
  12. Zu, did you not notice she said she is not looking because she is already taken? Lady dot protest too much, dheh. NG, your powers of observation are other worldly. That was me at 21 you described. Nowadays, my shoes are neatly lined up in their original boxes and my clothes are colour-coordinated and neatly sectioned. All the time.
  13. Zu, lol...c'mon, anyone would want to work with our Serenity. They just need to make sure they don't criticise anything she does. Lily, is it not a dirac wedding? I tend to think those are the easiest to dress for.
  14. Aw, that's sad, Serenity. Hopefully, Abdi will get a better placement somewhere else, I'A.
  15. Gotta love these studies.
  16. Originally posted by Kashafa: This is a positive development by the authorities. It would create an exclusive area for women to worship, while at the same time, allowing those who want to worship closer to the Kacba to do so. Actually, I can't think of a better area for women to worship at than the vicinity of the Kacba. There is enough money made by the authorities from pilgrims to come up with other ways of improving the Hajj experience for Muslims than restricting women in where and how they pray. Positive development? More like a cop out.
  17. NG, It's about this (on Pg 124) ---> Originally posted by Valenteenah: Had the first day of a two-day training course in Recruitment and Selection. Quite eye-opening and timely, I must say. Interesting being on the other side. Send me your questions from Thursday, I'A. About the chocolate: It's all well balanced. 1 bar of chocolate = no dinner.
  18. LoL...I can't believe people are even attempting to argue about this.
  19. No, I don't believe that's a valid HR question, Lily. My concentration drops around the same time too (from 3pm actually). This is why I am currently munching on a Snickers bar.
  20. Afternoon all. This thread moves fast, doesn't it? Dabshid was good enough to PM me my first HR questions (thank you!) and I thought it might prove more useful if I posted the answers for everyone. Questions: 1 - What are your weaknesses? 2 - Do you like to work with your colleagues in professional way or friendly way? chose one? Answers: 1 - I have been told you should be careful about what weaknesses you mention, as they shouldn't be things that might prevent you from doing the job you are applying for. So, if you're applying for an IT job, then you shouldn't mention any weaknesses in the key skills you need to do that particular job. Also, when you do mention a weakness, you should make it sound positive and say what steps you have taken or are taking to overcome it. e.g. you might say something like " Sometimes, I find it a bit difficult to take my mind off work when I'm at home, however, I have found it useful to hit the gym after work. Exercising enables me to switch off when I need to. " So mention weaknesses that are not relevant to the job you're applying for and which puts you in a positive light in general. 2 - This question is more tricky. I think the ideal employee is both friendly and professional. It would be terrible if they were unfriendly because it will affect their colleagues and create tension at work and it's even worse if they were unprofessional because that would directly impact on the quality of their work, their image and reputation and that of the company which employs them. If I was asked that question, I would say " I'm both [friendly and professional]" because " I take pride in delivering a professional service and maintaining a supportive relationship with my colleagues and I'm a naturally friendly person. " If they probe further, I would explain how being one without the other would be detrimental to my career. Hope it's helpful. Any further insights or suggestions would be appreciated!
