The only reason you are taking such position and defending some one who MURDER your own uncles is because your TRIBAL affiliation with him. You're not too bright on logic, are you? Enjoy the rest of your day, sxb. This is how the world's history - not myopic tribal history - will always remember the Sayyid and his movement (the Dervishes): Mahammad Abdille Hasau's Dervish Resistance to Colonial Occupation Given the frequency and virulence of the Ethiopian raids, it was natural that the first pan-Somali or Greater Somalia effort against colonial occupation, and for unification of all areas populated by Somalis into one country, should have been directed at Ethiopians rather than at the Europeans; the effort was spearheaded by the Somali dervish resistance movement. The dervishes followed Mahammad Abdille Hasan of the puritanical Salihiyah tariqa (religious order or brotherhood). His ability as an orator and a poet (much-valued skills in Somali society) won him many disciples, especially among his own ********* and ****** clans (both of the ******* clan-family). The British dismissed Hasan as a religious fanatic, calling him the "Mad Mullah." They underestimated his following, however, because from 1899 to 1920, the dervishes conducted a war of resistance against the Ethiopians and British, a struggle that devastated the Somali Peninsula and resulted in the death of an estimated one-third of northern Somalia's population and the near destruction of its economy. One of the longest and bloodiest conflicts in the annals of sub-Saharan resistance to alien encroachment, the dervish uprising was not quelled until 1920 with the death of Hasan, who became a hero of Somali nationalism . Deploying a Royal Air Force squadron recently returned from action in combat in World War I, the British delivered the decisive blow with a devastating aerial bombardment of the dervish capital at Taleex in northern Somalia. Taleex...which was part of the ex-British Protectorate of Somaliland. But the bombing thereof isn't considered "brutal", is it? History, my friends, cannot be changed to fit today's narrow political agendas. _________________ No explicit qabiil names. [ January 19, 2006, 01:31: Message edited by: Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar ]

Why's this limited to only soccer matches? Sacramento Kings v. LA Lakers 7-game Western Conference Finals series 2002 (Lakers won, I lost $$ - phuckers) Recent battle between USC Trojans & Texas Longhorns (Texas won, I made $$ HA HA) Turkey v. Senegal World Cup '02 (Turkey won with OT goal) Nigeria v. Italy World Cup '94 (Italy won in penalties) That one Miller cat from Cameroon in '90 when he ran to the corner and did the niiko dance! I can't even name how many great boxing matches I've seen, though. Oh yea, who could forget that one great golf game in 2002

Absolutely no "if" or "but" or "maybe" about it: Palestine is Palestinian (Muslim) land until Yowmul Khiyaamah.

Originally posted by somalipride: So Ilmo Cali Taar won? Really is that so, well are they in control of the coast guard anymore? No, but they're in charge of a private militia that's defended against an attempted assassination by Cadde's forces in Bossaso. But, of course, being the weak leader he is, Cadde says in public he didn't know anything about what his clan-cousin (Police commander Kheyr) was planning to do. Gaagaab will definitely come back as finance minister!!! get President Cade out and bring Faroole in. I wonder why Faroole is such a threat to you and the magical Kingdom? Don't worry, though, the Nugaal folks want to get rid of Faroole anyways. Or are you scared of his tekniko? By the way, how is that "oil exploration" thing going? Any Western oil experts in Puntland yet? And Gaagaab? Let's see if Cadde renames him. Originally posted by Libaax-Sankataabte: Let Cadde, the president do the firing/sacking. Not the police force. The president didn't even know about this. When Cadde heard about what the police force did, You simply agreed with my previous assessment sxb: a president that doesn't know what's going on in his own administration is a weak president. Today, Cadde came to Garoowe and visited the 54th Military Camp - I wonder, is he assessing his military strength before naming his new Cabinet? Yet, SW agreed with you (and with me in retrospect, despite all the fancy-word denials). I don't believe it either. What's their motive - these so-called Dark Crusaders? Black comedians have made comical use of stereotypes for decades so why would these influential Black figures cherry-pick on Chapelle alone? But Dave Chapelle a Nation of Islam follower? You'd think the guy believed in that ganja religion of the Jamaicans the way he smoke.

^^ LOL Waraa I went to Holland via Hoek van Holland during that same trip. Generally, Holland is a cleaner place and the chickas are easier. But still, I dunno which females you seen in London, but the ones I know is um... But I guess you guys got that European rivalry crap going on.

I knew Peyton Manning couldn't handle the pressure. But after all the chances the Colts got and missed, they deserved to lose. Debate the topic but don't insult the team with home-court advantage + MVP. Don't hate the team that's defying all expectations and making the haters (i.e. you) become mere naysayers. Panthers are good, I'm not gonna deny that. But this Seatown's year. I'll be back on this thread when Alexander gets this championship ring, insha Allah. -
For me, I'd say London. I was there in 2004 for three weeks. Like someone mentioned, I almost got hit by a double-decker bus coz I looked in the wrong direction. Also, the place is a mini-Nairobi. The people are hella rude like New Yorkers. They bump right into you and continue walking. It got to a point me and my buddies nicknamed it: "This Damn City." The only thing I liked was the girls.

Originally posted by Jaylaani: Have you ever wonder why this mullah was in Somaliland in the first place?...He could have done the same thing in Ethiopia (his own people) or Somalis under the Italian rule that were more oppressed if he was sincere. So, according to you, these two things are factual: 1. The Sayyid, because of clan, is from Ethiopia and he should work to help "his people" in Ethiopia. 2. The Italian colonialists were "more oppressive" than their British counterparts. Debate for anything, but fadlan sharaftiina dhowra and quit debating on behalf of the British colonialists - they were as brutal, if not more, than the Italians, the French, etc. The British that you claim were nice to Somaliland weren't even nice to their offspring who finally declared war on the British in what history knows as the American Revolution. If their offspring revolted against them, what makes you think the British were nice to a buncha African savages they wanted to "civilize"? He had a hidden agenda in promoting and spreading the dominance of one particular tripe and yes Somaliland citizens saw it and rejected his twisted political strategy. What "particular tribe" is that, I wonder. No one ever said the fight for freedom is a walk in the park. The Sayyid and his Dervishes did what it takes for a man to gain his freedom - even if it meant killing fellow Somalis. And no, despite what lies your families fed you, the Sayyid didn't only kill Somalis of the Hargeisa area. If you know you're history, his forces killed many people. For example, he ruled the Nugaal Valley with an iron fist for many years. My grandfather lost 10 of his boy siblings when the Sayyid suspected Reer Nugaaleed were working against him. You know what he did to them? He didn't even shoot them. He tied the men (totaled over 1,000 dead that day) and threw them in the ocean at a place called Illig in Eyl (of Nugaal coast). Thousands fled his purge and my grandfather barely escaped to Beledweyne at age 11 with an uncle, where he grew up, got married and raised his family. Because Reer Nugaal are part of the "particular tribe" you have such "particular hate" for, tell me exactly how the Sayyid was promoting his "tribe" when he was killing some of them and being a dicator to the living ones? Also, tell me how he promoted Reer Abtigii when, because of their support for him, they faced British colonial bombardment on their villages and towns, killing scores of people and displacing thousands others. The Sayyid fought to keep Islam the only religion in Somalia - and he succeeded. That's his legacy. p.s. Aniga waxaan la yaabay dadkaan Somaliland u dooda qaarkood. When Siyad Barre (aun) is mentioned, they say he wronged them and he victimized them. When the Sayyid (aun) is mentioned, they say he also victimized them. But the British? They weren't "brutal" to them and one SL fan even said they "wished" the British stayed a few more years! For how many more years will y'all continue to shed the cry of innocent victims?

^^ You're wish has become true: Denver Broncos 27 v. New England Patriots 13. But Seattle Seahawks beat the Washington Redskins even though season MVP Shawn Alexander left the game, 20 to 10. One more win for the Seahawks and we're going to the Super Bowl. -
^^ I don't understand exactly what you gain from replaying the same tunes over and over again: under Cadde's leadership, there's no civil conflict and no tension with SL, blah blah. Cajiib that you turn the blind eye to what's really going on - corruption. Puntland employees such as civilians and police haven't been paid for a while. Where's the money from Bossaso port going? In Maxamed Dheere's pockets, I presume. Cadde waa maqaar-saar sida Karzai of Afghanistan. Micno uu leeyahay ma jirto. When a private militia defeated his so-called police force, he publicly went on the attack against the police, saying they broke the law. Funny, though: Where's the mention of Ilmo Cali Taar and their heavily-armed private militia (which can defeat the police)? Is it legal to have such an armed presence in Bossaso? Cadde is a weak leader. He'll spend the rest of his term giving great speeches such as: If you kill someone, you'll be executed (has not happened); we will invite foreigners to invest (has not happened); we will build Bossaso airport (has not been finished); we will expand the port (has not even started). Hadal, hadal iyo hadal. Meesha ma Tim Hortonska Toronto buu mooday? P.S. If he returns Gaagaab as finance minister and replaces all the other heavyweights (as speculated by most websites), we'll know for sure that he's a proxy leader. Let's wait.

^^ Ok, Sarah. Or was it Michelle?

^^ Ha u bixin nacnacda, sxb. The Sayyid's legacy is printed in our forefathers' blood. No one can neither dictate nor change recorded historical facts.

^^ He's with the New York Knicks. Anyone see Seattle Sonic Ray Allen smack that little boy Keyon Dooling of the Orlando Magic two nights ago?

She can make as many threats as possible on behalf of SL, but exactly how does that change the reality on the ground? I dont assume there were any colonial forces that were protecting the countries they were colonising, but it was actually called British Protectorate of Somaliland. I just wish they continued their 'protection' for three or more years then may be history and faith would have been fair on us and thus the 'bloody union' would have not occured at all. I had to re-read that statement a couple of times, thinking my eyes were deceiving me each time, but its just as its written, which is quite a surprise. In all my years on planet earth, I have yet to see someone "wish" for colonialism. Talyaaniga wixiisa "gumeysi" ayee ahayd, haye? Kii Ingiriiskana? "Ilaalin." Kii Faransiiskana? Jacburis? Ain't that something?

So what if you like country music? You need a cookie or something? I don't get the point of this thread at all - is it another one of those 'Hey, look I'm different' threads?

AHAHA He's a foo wit' it yo. Dr Dre, the man who hasn't done sh!t since NWA and gave Eazy-E AIDS Das cold. Still, D.R.E. is King Kong of the WEST. $100 says Osama'll get murk'd in CPT any day.

OLOL, are you celebrating because the foul-mouthed Professor praised warlord Indhocade? He can always go back to Mugdi Mudug where they breed basterds like him and Aidiid; He, in the above quote, refers to Cabdullahi Yusuf. Togane is right on the money with that statement.

An interesting debate between a Puntland government vice-minister, a government organ chief and a member of civil society, hosted by Radio Garowe, concerning the first year of the Gen Cadde Muuse/Xasan Dahir administration. Bottomline is that the current PL dministration isn't much different from previous administrations, albeit its made more effort to reform than had other administrations. How do you folks see his first year?

Ms. Fallot is a recent convert to Islam. In the eyes of the police, that makes her potentially dangerous. Walee...Kuwaani naceybkooda ma qarsadaan.

^^ No one said "concentrate" on the ugly, but I'm saying don't "deny" that the ugly exists, even within the Ummah. You're right that beauty should be valued, but that doesn't mean the ugly side of life should be ignored. If we hide dirt under the carpet long enough, soon we'll be dealing with a formation we can neither grasp nor condone. So address the problem right there and then - directly and efficiently. And this "image" of the Muslims you keep trying to protect - what good is the outside image if the inside is so rotten? Wise Man & Rahima - Do you guys know the origin and history of the term "Mohammedan"? I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with saying "Ummada Nabi Maxamed" (scw) as in the old Somali idiom, "Nin walbow naftaa, Nabiyow Ummadaa." But referring to Muslims as a "Mohammedan" Ummah is directly borrowing a term from old English literature and history books, where Muslims are portrayed as worshippers of Muhammad (scw) as opposed to worshippers of Allah SWT. In the same breath, we might as well classify all Africans as "savages" and "animals" who need to be civilized (i.e. Christianized) because that's exactly how the English referred to them. That's my point.

Early Ciid Mubaarak to all Muslims around the world! and reflect on the narrative of Prophet Abraham in the Qur’an, Sxb, any particular reason you chose to Anglocize Nabi Ibrahim's (cs) name?
