^^ That's just sad. What bugs me most is why our contemporary youth became docile and indifferent to the grim events in our country? What other choice do they have, really? Why would the youth worry when the adults - the supposed "role models" - are able to quickly collect thousands of dollar$ as soon as Clan X attacks Clan Z, but will sit and watch (behave indifferently, if you will) as 2 million Somalis face death due to drought, starvation and an enduring conflict? Sometimes, indifference is the only weapon against flat-out depression. Somalia, in its current state, is a very depressing country to think about.

What's so great about a Hamas victory at the polls? Will Hamas remove Israeli military roadblocks? Will Hamas free the Palestinian people from the State of Israel's oppressive measures? The answer to both questions is no. In reality, Palestinians' vote isn't towards any drastic changes in their lifestyle. Rather, they voted to rid themselves of the corruption and nepotism prevalent in the Fatah leadership. So, a Hamas victory doesn't change much - it just brings tougher negociators to the table (that is, "if" Israel is willing to negociate with an org it deems as "terrorist"). But peaceful elections in Palestine is most certainly good news for the people thereof.

Somali pirates -- possibly the closest thing we have to a navy
Yeniceri replied to Caano Geel's topic in General
Are you referring to the same pirates who held hostage U.N. aid ships full of food destined for poor and dying Somalis? These pirates are looking out for their own selfish interests and could care less for the environmental hazards being caused by commericial ships, who continue to dump toxic waste on Somalia's shores. Plus, some of these pirates have working connections with Somalia's various warlords - so why would I believe they're upto any good? (i.e. Isn't it strange that piracy in Somali waters spiked in 2005 and then a $50 million contract was signed between the TFG and an American security firm?) We'll regret the destruction of our shores one day. But I simply don't see sea pirates as a "navy" for Somalia - they're terrorists, on the same level as the warlords and the foreign fishing vessels. -

Khilaaf baa soo kala dhexgalay Cadde Muuse iyo Xasan Dahir Afqurac "...Maxaa sababay in dib loo dhigo magacaabida Xukuumada Cusub ee sida wayn loogu dhag-taagayay ? Sababta , ugu wayn ee dib ugu dhigay M/wayne Cadde Muuse ku dhawaaqida Xukuumadiisa Cusub oo uu horay u shaaciyay in uu si dhakhso ah uu uiclaaminayo , ayaa lagu sheegay khilaaf soo kala dhexgalay isaga iyo kuxigeenkiisa Xassan Daahir Af-qurac , kadib markii uu M/wayne Cadde la sheegay in uu Xassan Daahir ku eedeeyay , lunsasho , lacag dhan 74, Bilyan , oo SH.SO ah oo u dhiganta $5M. Arrin kale: "...Warar kale oo kuwaasi dhinac socda ayaa iyaguna ku sheegay in khilaafkani ka dhashay dhinaca Ilaalinta Baddaha, kadib markii ay soo baxeen warar sheegaya in Labada Shirkadood ee SOMCON iyo Al-Khayr lagu dhexdhexaadiyey qaab beeleed si ay uga wada hawlgalaan Ilaalinta Baddaha Puntland, aruumtan oo dhacday intii uu dalka dibada uga maqnaa Madaxweyne ku xigeenku." Cadde realized ilmo Cali Taar had more weapons than him so, he thought, "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em." Now, ilmo Cali Taar are supposed to take their xaram share of gross misuse of public property with al-Kheyr Marines company to "safeguard" Puntland's waters (in reality, to sign deals with foreign ships to fish illegally and to dump toxic waste on Somalia's shores). And after weeks of waiting, Cadde is once again too scared to name his Cabinet. I wonder why it took him this long, fully knowing that he was scheduled to visit his doctor in Europe again. But I'm sure his die-hard supporters here will come to his rescue, but only Allah SWT can rescue a shinking ship. This poem describes Cadde's tenure in Puntland. Wixii qabiil lagu dhisaa qabiil uun baa dumiya.

Then, few days after I proposed to her, she left me for a foreigner. And so, I run around cyber Forums disgracing Somali women who marry foreigners (cause, you see, I really care for the millions of them, what they do with their lives, who they should marry, etc). Here are my qualities: I'm possessive, arrogant and selfish. But, the important thing is that I'm Somali. So why'd she leave me? Boo hoo. You dig? We get it buddy, you're a liberal. p.s. Do you feel liberated, good Castro? This is most definitely a tit. We'll see if you go for the tat.

If by 'love' you mean that touchy-feely crap and the cry me a river nonsense on TV, then no. But if by 'love' you're referring to all those good men who raised their families honorably, then yes men do fall in love. But, as with everything else in life, there's no consistency whatsoever. You play the cards you're dealt.

^^ Oh, c'mon, Fidel! You're spoiling all the fun. A sense of light humor would do you much good, sxb, especially in the war of words zone known officially as SOL Politics. And the comments are always in reference to the diehard fans of any individual or political entity in Somalia/land - they're all failures in my eyes, systems and individuals. I adhere to none so I'm automatically above all. Comprende, senor? p.s. Somali politics is primitive politics. Mud-slinging is by no means exclusive to our politics but we seem to excel in it for some odd reason.

Very interesting links and research on the part of the author, I must say. Apparently, in ancient times, Somalis were more efficiently divided along professional lines as opposed to the present cumbersome system of lineage. Very interesting statement - but the author doesn't provide any substantial evidence to support this claim (or many of the others). Perhaps we should look forward to a more comprehensive study from the same person.

^^ You two: The Puntland "police" (or lack thereof) don't run around using tekniko and beebe against unarmed civilians - sick people at that. Why didn't the SL super army use those teknikos to reach the mythical 'eastern' border instead of invading a hospital , is the question the residents of Hargeisa asked themselves that day. SOMALIPRIDE - To you, somehow, the presence of "a man from one of the Islands close to Australia that is in Bosasso working for one of the companies" is considered progress? What can a single man do, really? And why is he in Bossaso - are the natural resources located in or near Bossaso? And what of the recent open letter signed by elders of Sanaag Bari community who are against exploration in their lands? Is that not considered opposition? Hail Cadde! NOT!

Ain't it obvious? JUMATATU'S voice of dissent has been silenced by the powers that be. What threat he posed to the Forum (and to its members) remains unknown, however (but I doubt he was a threat at all). Yet, the "Puntlandization" and the systematic "Yeyism" of the SOL Politics section continues unabated. Have they no shame?

I've heard about the story of the British offering to unite all Somali-speaking territory under one flag and how the Somali leaders rejected it, but I didn't know the Walwal village connection. In some ways, the mistake that was made then has contributed to the misunderstanding, disunity and confusion that's been prevalent in Somali society and politics in the post-colonial era.

^^ AC Milan v. Liverpool '05 - I forgot that game. What a comeback! Game 6 2004 Stanley Cup Quarterfinals Calgary Flames vs. Vancouver Canucks. When I read that sentence, I was thinking dude's gonna talk about a great fistfight during the hockey match. But he was seriously talking about the game. What a disappointment.
