  1. This is doomed walahi. Look at the individuals that are suppose to be "winning" the hearts and minds of the people? Tarzan & Co!.
  2. Such is the dreamy aspirations of graduates of politics; all waiting that tap on the shoulder or that fateful call to go back to Somalia and "safe" the country--- the instruments at their disposal is half comprehension of ancient greek works. Somalia is nothing like the ancient Greece nor a developed western country. The deep-seated problems our society suffers, on the superficial level is universal, but dig deep and you will realise they are painfully unique to us.
  3. Four Wives. Once upon a time there was a rich King who had four wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to the finest of delicacies. He gave her nothing but the best. He also loved the 3rd wife very much and was always showing her off to neighboring kingdoms. However, he feared that one day she would leave him for another. He also loved his 2nd wife. She was his confidant and was always kind, considerate and patient with him. Whenever the King faced a problem, he could confide in her, and she would help him get through the difficult times. The King's 1st wife was a very loyal partner and had made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and kingdom. However, he did not love the first wife. Although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her! One day, the King fell ill and he knew his time was short. He thought of his luxurious life and wondered, "I now have four wives with me, but when I die, I'll be all alone." Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I have loved you the most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No way!", replied the 4th wife, and she walked away without another word.. Her answer cut like a sharp knife right into his heart. The sad King then asked the 3rd wife, "I have loved you all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No!", replied the 3rd wife. "Life is too good! When you die, I'm going to remarry!" His heart sank and turned cold. He then asked the 2nd wife, "I have always turned to you for help and you've always been there for me. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?" "I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!", replied the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only walk with you to your grave." Her answer struck him like a bolt of lightning, and the King was devastated. Then a voice called out: "I'll go with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go." The King looked up, and there was his first wife. She was very skinny as she suffered from malnutrition and neglect. Greatly grieved, the King said, "I should have taken much better care of you when I had the chance!" In truth, we all have the 4 wives in our lives: Our 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it will leave us when we die. Our 3rd wife is our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, it will all go to others. Our 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how much they have been there for us, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave. And our 1st wife is our Soul. Often neglected in pursuit of wealth, power and pleasures of the world. However, our Soul is the only thing that will follow us wherever we go. Cultivate, strengthen and cherish it now, for it is the only part of us that will follow us to the throne of God and continue with us throughout Eternity. Thought for the day: Remember, when the world pushes you to your knees, you're in the perfect position to pray.

    Bienvenue à notre soirée
  9. As grean and world concious person, I urge you not to drive. Think about the Environment. In london, you have 24 hour buses and Trains are fairly frequent (speaking from memory); why chose convenience over polluting the world. Be responsible, go public.

    Rant on SOL

As a character, Farah has retired from SOL and the mantle was passed to his younger and more energetic cousin—Fahiye. Xiin, admittedly that was the renaissance period of SOL and indeed, waxing lyrical about much ado about nothing (from theology to social deconstructionist theories) was refreshing. Youth drove Mutakalim, Baashi, Sophist, Socodbane, Baydan, Barwaaqo, Jamaal11 et all to produce artistic works of wondrous beauty, words playing like the most moving sonatas of a classical melody. Now, amazed I am as those who are similar age when such creative juices over flowed the valleys of SOL; the same pedigree (Soomali ahaan) are disappointingly filling the pages of SOL with inferior topics. Has education in the west deteriorated really that badly within 4 years? Futile outcry!!

JB: The ever so crowd pleaser; we like you all par when you are the politics section. Fahiye PS: I have been a silent reader; what prompted me to write this is I am missing my daily dose of somali wisdom ;d

    Rant on SOL

Salamu Alaikum, What become of Somaliaonline? In its inception, SOL was the beacon of Somali Cyber world; a place where the freethinking young nomads sought refuge from the wide speared garbage infested sites; the likes of Somalinet. Attracting the fresh minds of the age, men and women that like a honey pot congregated this place was numerous to mention their names. Ideas were exchanged, thoughts provoked and dogma was challenged. The place that was once bustling with inspirational, thought provoking not to mention edgy threads has slowly metamorphed into what many would call “run of the mill” forums. Topics that once would have been ridiculed are now taking over the threads—I hear many hissing with rage; how outrageous; Fahiye is being snob!!!. I assure you, I am just frustrated with the many garbage topics posted as though these were issues facing us everyday; for the love of god; write your emotional rubish in the dear dairy website!!!. Folks, SOL is not the the emotional laundry of the Somali diaspora. I appeal to the likes of; Xiin, Baashe, Mutakalim, Salyci et all (and the many others who had contributed to SOL's enlightened years)to re-ignite the invigorating discussions we once enjoyed. Or is it a case of SOL being lost cause as it became an open to all unlike the olden days where we felt as though we were a "family"? Post Script This is not meant to be patronising piece of writing. It is written out of frustration with the current deterioration of our beloved nomad virtual house. It should not be seen a piece of snobbery piffle. Thank you.

  15. Oh the triviality of the defeated lot is becoming ever so preposterous. I lived in Mogadishu and when the USC boys started killing anyone who had the blood of Sheikh C/raxmaan ismaail running through their arteries, as such we had to flee to Kismayu. That my dear boy was the year 1991-- and now I become an grown up man who actively reads about saga that is Somali politics, I have come to know with absolute certainty both gents were absent from that ill-fated Shir. The fabrication of oodweyne (his last one being that he was present at the Shir; as we all know then he was working for that once an esteemed instiutiution that bear her majesty’s title Royal Mail as a sorting boy in the environs of Wembley.
  16. Correction: Oodweyne. As the falsifications of history continues, Oodweyne made the terrible mistake of specifically speaking of individuals. Hassan Dahir Afqurac and Mohamed Abdi Hashi were both in Kismayu when that infamous shir took place in Burco. I know this because, as a young boy ; I served tea to one of the chaps as he came to our house in Farjanno for with my father AHN.
  17. I am member of the board, and from Buhotle; Ceyn. The mentioned gents are from SOOL, SANaag, Ceyn and Awdal.
  18. All is said without much though; perhaps the foremost remark made in my earlier post still holds the fort. In this child’s play of what SOL’s olitical chamber has of late become, the said gentleman continiously entertains us with languid long treatise written either absentmindedly or languorously—or perhaps the undertaking was done under the influence of both. The oldish man (in his early 40s) never exhausts conjecturing up fantastical thoughts about history that never was— harmless indeed as it reminds me of a young boy wondering in the fields of Shalaambood; journeying thoughtlessly whilsit dreaming without cogitation about what out to be a better life; such a farm boy mentality (or I should I use nomad’s analogy but I shant as the gentleman in question is related to Ingiriis Carre sharing the surname if you like as such nomadism isn’t part of the fabric of their culture) should never be taken seriously; unless the child's fantastical thoughts takes grip of his reality; then his elders should be obligated to furnish him the needed medication in order to bring him back to reality. Facts When the USC ousted Siyad Bare from the Capital; that days the SNM rag tag of a militia was in hiding; the triangle (Hargeisa Berbera and Buco) was under the friom grip of Sareeye Guuto C/Casiis Cali Bare; an illustrious Brigadier of highest order. Thusly, the Somali National Army was not defeated in the north but left the cities after the President was ousted and Ali Mehdi was declared a President.
  19. To basterdise what that brain house once said – only two things are infinite the universi and the Odweyne’s inanity; and I am not so sure about the universe. The chap never tires vommiting the most appalling primary school nonsense. He continues to be a mephatic purulent sore; failing trying to change history whilist inciting hatred within our community. May Allah make this lost child find the light that is GOOD.
  20. Prosthetic leg? yes how do you know; it is functioning good. Ghanimia Ukraine has good medical schools that are affordable. Additionally, the country is beautiful and you learn diff cultures.

  23. Buuxo: You are very modern lady huh. The basic assumption one must make if one is given the info above is the person is married. Then again, you might not be wrong considering the growing rate of single fathers in our community.
